I find the whole Camavinga links interesting, it seems him and Rice are players under consideration as midfield options.

While I feel Camavinga has the greater potential, it is Rice who I think could make the biggest impact next season. He is ready to step in and instantly improves our midfield. The problem is that he would cost at least twice maybe even three times as much as Camavinga.

Who would you guys prefer Rice or Camavinga?

{Ed004's Note - I think a lot depends on if Pogba stays. If Pogba stays I don't think a midfield of Camavinga, Paul and Bruno works whereas Rice might be the missing piece of the puzzle}

If we have the budget, then Declan Rice.
He is one of the best in EPL at the moment.

However, Camavinga's potential is huge and the maturity he displays is beyond his age.
The significantly low fee quoted for Camavinga is another tempting factor as we have already invested heavily on Sancho.

{Ed002's Note - Who has quoted this low fee?}

If we are going to stick with a double pivot midfield and the 4-2-3-1 formation then Camavinga.

If we are transitioning to a single pivot and a 4-3-3 formation then Rice.

The Camavinga talk seems a continuation of last year where we brought in Diallo/ Pellestri, looking at young players that we can develop and have the potential to be high quality. I guess this is what we did historically with the likes of Ronaldo. In this sense I am happy with this as a policy but it has its problems in that these players can't be expected to be at the level we need them initially and needs to be looked at for a year or 2 down the road.
So, on the debate of Camavinga or Rice, for me it is Rice as he is ready now and can play in the HM single pivot or the double pivot. If not Rice we should be looking at NDidi or an equivelant type as we need to release our attacking midfielders.

I think if a player of exceptional quality comes along at what seems to be a fair price, like Haaland last year when we came close, we should be going for him. So Camavinga for me. Rices seems overpriced to me and hadn’t done an awful lot to warrant it other than being English.

Probably Rice but not sure it's an exclusive.

Both would be an improvement.

I think Rice will stay for 1 year where he is.

Fabrizio Romano has mentioned around the 30million mark I believe 002.

{Ed002's Note - He was likely teasing you.}

Did seem unusually low.

The fact that he's in the last year of his contract with no intention of signing a new one surely means he will at least be cheaper than Rice (not that that is saying much! ) .

I've only seen clips of this kid play like I suspect most of us have with the excepted of shappy who watches football 28 hours a day! Feckin students🤣🤣
So its impossible to say. He comes with a great reputation and kits of potential but also a health warning from ed002 (like he did with depay) telling us he may not be ready for epl every week.
Rice is a good player playing well but ole doesn't play with 1 holding midfielder and ed002 has told everyone on here a lot of times that that position is not a priority.
Unless we change the way we play rice is not a priority imo.

Rice looks better and better the more I see of him. Is prepared to do all the dirty work and also sit and curb his instincts for the good of the team, he executes the job asked of him by the manager within the game plan. He is the kind of player every team needs to make a system work, and there is no doubt he would make us stronger.

Camavigna I have never seen and watched extended runs of merely restricted to clips and analysis of his play by others so its hard to comment in detail.

Personally I like the idea of a Rice and Bellingham partnership longterm and would like us to pursue one of each over the next two seasons to sort our Midfield out long term. I do think Rice and McT can work as two in our system however.
