Rashy missing for 2 months. disappointing for him but better he gets the op and recovers than continually just managing the injury. Wish he could have came back firing straight away after the events of the past few days but that can wait. Wish him a successful op and speedy recovery.

It begs the question why the bell was he in the squad if he isn't100% fit. He should have had his surgery 6 weeks ago.
Injury is part of football he is employed by the club. He hardly kicked a ball all tournament and should have been recuperating. I've seen some crazy decisions by the club management but this is the worst of all.
Shocking.

To be fair Ken what does the club do, there are very few chances to play in an international tournament and if a player is set on it ypu can't stop them.

This could just have easily been Rashfords saying I am playing no matter what. No one knew how little he would play, most people would expect he would have played more.

It's a bit unfair to knock United over this because we don't know who said what.

When all is said and done no one can force someone to have surgery.

When you say club management Ken who do you mean? It will have been Rashford’s decision, I assume you mean Ole?

I am glad this is happening.

Crazy how long Marcus has been carrying that and playing for us. While we will miss him till, after the international break in September (approximating), it will also give the other lads to step up a bit and show Ole that they are solid rotation options.

I’m with ken. He hardly played in the Euros, he wouldn’t have been missed, he was pretty much just enjoying the experience. He’s paid very very well and if needed an op he should have had it immediately the season ended. How much n Earth this was decided is beyond me. The only plus is this length of time might mean all his knocks clear up and he’s finally fit.

6.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 07:23:16
Good for Rashy. Playing with injuries may lead to long term career risk.
Before signing Bruno, he was the one who mainly carried the team.
Therefore we need him fully fit.

14 Jul 2021 08:11:58
Didnt Marcos say before the Euros that he would make the decision on his shoulder surgery after the tournament.

Obviously he would have liked to have played more minutes but the form of Sterling prevented that.

With the benefit of hindsight he might have made a different decision, but he was part of a squad that made it to a final, you can see why he would want to be part of it.

14 Jul 2021 07:55:21
United pay his wages not England. If he was a vital member playing in every game then you would understand why the England manager would want him, yet he hardly played at all. He was brought on like an American punt kicker in the final, used to try to have one kick. This costs United his services for weeks. He needs to be managed better all round, remember who his first loyalties are to.
I recall Stephen Gerrard had an operation, missed an England tournament, put Liverpool first to ensure he was ready for a new season. The club should have looked at this.
I am with Ken and AJH this is now ridiculous, United are paying him when he isn’t available just so he could be a sub for England. Why didn’t the club act like Liverpool did with Gerrard? Why was Rashford vastly overplayed last season with an injury? Why was necessary medical intervention not taken last season?
It highlights amateur in the thinking.

9.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 08:46:59
He didn’t know he wasn’t going to be playing did he? Most people would have expected him to play. Most players don’t get the chance to play in many tournaments and I can’t blame him for making that decision. Perhaps he’s realised over the last few weeks it is worse than he thought? Maybe missing the England games has made him re-evaluate and want to get it right as he’s realised it is affecting him more than he thought?

Let’s not miss another chance to bash ‘the management’ though eh.

10.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 09:33:22
Plus the surgeon was not apparently available until July. Why not go to the tournament?

11.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 09:44:03
You can understand the argument on either side for this. From Rashford's point of view a big tournament predeominantly on home soil with a good chance of success, why would you not risk it. From the club's point of view they will not be happy to lose him until October having known that he was carrying this at the end of the season.
However, better to know now that he will be out and we can plan for that. It maybe gives an opportunity for Martial to have a good pre-season and take that left sided position. As we have said on Sancho he can play across the front 3 so can play out there and will also give Greenwood a chance to get some game time as well.
Lets hope it all goes well and we get a fully fit and rested Rashford when he comes back.

How come people think that they know better? Everyone seems to think they know more than the people who are around Rashford everyday. It’s like people think that everyone involved is completely inept and has no clue about what they're doing. These people have forgotten more than we will ever know, that’s why they’re in top top jobs at one of the worlds top sports teams. I understand people questioning the motives and running of the club by the owners but the medical staff etc are way more in the know about managing rashford than we ever will be. There are reasons why it’s taken till now to sort it out, some we know of, some we don’t. Either way it’s Marcus’ decision and no one can make that choice for him regardless of how much they pay him.

Lickyfields

Worth reminding you that the respected Ed’s say our club is run by amateurs. These “clever” people you refer to can’t forget what they didn’t know in the first place.

14.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 10:35:18
As Eric says, it has come out now that the surgeon wasn't available until July to do the operation, so it makes perfect sense why he went to the Euro's rather than sit waiting until now, nothing really more to say once you know that.

End of July GDS2.

16.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 11:35:29
The break will do him good and at least it's not surgery on his legs.

Although I've heard he has an ankle issue that could be looked at at the same time.

17.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 11:41:35
I think Dan James will stay now, although I'd look Diallo to be given a chance off the bench, as part of squad rotation and possibly league Cup if we get a favourable draw, with loan James out. For the lad to progress a loan move away from the Club would benefit Dan James.

18.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 12:37:46
To be fair he is only human like the rest of us. Who wouldn't want to go and play and experience a big tournament with their country.

19.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 12:43:15
We could play Martial, James or Sancho on the left, with Greenwood and Amad able to play on the right.

That's the benefit of signing someone like Sancho. He gives us that versatility and cover. The only issue is he will have more pressure to hit the ground running with Rashford out.

20.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 14:00:24
It should not have been his decision. He did not dictate when he plays the club do.
There is more than one surgeon in the world.
We should not pander to the whims of any player or national team.
I don't believe there was no window to operate from may to July.
Of course he wanted to play but the club should come 1st.
Gds2 I'm sure one was not the only one involved hence management nt and not only ole. If I thought it was ole alone I'd have laid the blame at his door alone.

21.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 14:29:46
You didn't miss the opportunity to bash james earlier gds2 but that's OK.

22.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 14:32:10
I am with Ken, the finger doesn’t point just at Ole but surely the Football Director should have considered this injury in the overall strategy for next season. Amad is on Olympic duty and after spending 73m on Sancho for the right wing “ “problem” it would be frankly embarrassing to stick him on the left for 2 months.
I suspect Pogba may play left if he stays but no idea why the club don’t just let him go. Personally it would be tempting to try Greenwood or actually Mejbri on the left depending on the formation. I like Mejbri and will it be a chance for him? (As long as he isn’t at the Olympics)

23.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 15:56:59
Bashing? Haha I thought I was quite nice about him to be honest, said he works hard etc just don’t think he’s good enough. I don’t come on here every day to write a post about him, hardly bashed the lad.

Sure Rashford would have been delighted if the club stopped him from playing at the Euro’s and sitting at home waiting to have an operation.

24.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 17:57:45
He is not fit gds2 he shouldn't be available for selection. He needs an operation. He is not fit. Do you give your kids everything they want or do you get everything you want as an employee?
Where did I bash the management if that's your criteria for bashing. The usual double standard from you.
Questioning a decision is not bashing unless your a right drama queen.

25.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 18:00:34
Red Man, I think you might be right about Pogba playing LW for a while. He played the last half a dozen games last season at LW and shunted Rashford out to the right.

On of Pogba or Martial on the left with one of Sancho or Greenwood on the right and Cavani central. If Cavani isn't fit then one of Martial or Greenwood will play central maybe with one of Pogba or Sancho or both playing the wider roles.

Cavani, Sancho, Martial, Greenwood, and Pogba should be good enough to cover the three positions for a couple of months.

With players like James and Mata offering squad depth, and Amad once he's back from the Olympics.

26.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 19:25:17
Haha Ken chill out, someone rattled your cage again, give it a rest. If you don’t think certain people on here bash the manager then fair enough, I think most would say they definitely do regularly, we can agree to disagree.

He has said he was fit and doesn’t need the operation and could play through it but has decided during the summer that something hasn’t felt right and he needs to go and have the operation. All this information is out there I’m not making it up. You can have an injury but still be able to play. Just one of them things, hopefully he comes back fresh once it’s done.

27.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 19:43:16
Not in today's level of game, GDS2. You could see that in his performances towards the end of the season.

28.) 14 Jul 2021
14 Jul 2021 20:18:16
Well that’s why he’s made the decision to get it done, I’ll be happy to have him back for the rest of the season fully fit even if it means missing the first 10 or so games. A fully fit Rashford would be great.
