If we secure Verane this very much feels like we have the double pillars at the back that we have always had. Maguire is a very good player who needs pace beside him, but as shown at the Euros is a top player. I think Verane will complement him in the way that Stones did and will elevate his game.
We possibly will have our Ferdinand/ Vidic pairing that could see us challenge for the next few years, assuming the other aspects are there also.

Mad Hatter, agreed I think he allows that transition as hopefully OGS has more faith in the back line and does not require the double pivot to defend.

I have a feeling Varane will come and one more late signing and that will be it. We have been crying out for a rw and cb for a long time, if we get a top cdm this could be a very good season ahead.
