So we had 23 players I think that played apart today, for some reason Jones must be injured still and who knows about Martial. Then we have all the players from the Euros, Fred and Diallo who did not take part.

I know that some of the young lads will either go out on loan or back to their respective age groups but that is the best part of 40 players who want to be part of that first team squad.

Add to that Sancho, possibly Varane and maybe Trippier. No wonder we have a massive wage bill, we should be letting some of these leave.

If we wanted to keep lingard we should have let mata go. Same with Bailly, his contract should not have been extended last year. And now I fear we are going to extend Lingard's contract.
The number of goalkeepers we have is mad.

19 Jul 2021 07:32:07
Mata may add good professionalism about the place. Grant is likely a coach more than a player leaving DDG, Deano and Heaton.
Lingard may be needed if Rash goes under the knife so can see why Ole may want him about.

We've been woeful at the art of selling players for a very long time. I wouldn't take any notice of what the manager says in regards to Lingard, he also said Sanchez was a part of his plans only for him to leave a day later.

Romero could have went to Everton but we squabbled over a couple of million, he went on to sit in stands for a year and left on a free.

Rojo could have joined Everton too for roughly £18 million (the fee reported) we wanted £20 million and the deal fell through. Rojo didn't play again and eventually left for peanuts.

Lingard wasn't needed and let go on loan, now we have an extra attacker in Sancho joining plus a few exciting kids. Get what we can for him, wish him the best and move on.

We seem to view contracts on a spreadsheet with little to no logic on what's actually being done. Who ever greenlit Jones contract cost the club over £20 million in wages. Ludicrous.

One of the managers many weaknesses is squad rotation. A large squad is wasted on him as he has run the team into the ground each season he's been in charge. Having Mata stick around for another year just seems wasteful. He's one of my favourite people on and off the pitch, but tough decisions need to be made.

4.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 10:28:13
Wages need to be cut, perhaps Mata signed a new contract on reduced terms?

As it stands Lingards future is uncertain. He may still move clubs. Romero and a few youngsters have been released.

Personally, Matic should be sold and Mata shouldn't have been given a new contract. Perhaps the thinking behind it is Lingard will likely leave, so Mata signing a new 1 year deal might make sense.

5.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 10:30:11
Not sure the rojo reported fee was correct. We only paid 16 million for the lad.

6.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 10:37:43
I know its alien for United RedWhiskey, but it's not uncommon for teams to sell players for a profit.

7.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 11:25:40
I know however I feel that may be wide of the mark that fee. He never really improved us and I can’t imagine anybody would have paid more than we did for him after how many years with us and very little impact.

8.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 12:32:07
Was Ole supposed to say Lingard wasn’t part of his plans and we are happy to let him go? That helps nobody, wouldn’t believe a word he said.

9.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 13:44:21
I'd take the word of Ronnie biggs and Jack the ripper on anything before ole I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of oles mouth. The only thing he can ever say that will please me is ' I'm leaving'

10.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 14:17:34
😂😂😂 we are never going to get a manager that tells the truth to the press ken, SAF consistently lied, bet you’re glad he left too.

11.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 15:56:22
GDS2, Ole didn't lie in his press conference when he said we weren't in a title race when we were 6 points off the top with 45 points to play for.

12.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 17:16:39
Mumbles,

It’s not really about lying, just about managing the press.

13.) 19 Jul 2021

What are you going on about gds2.

14.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 18:47:09
What are you going on about gds2. Sir Alex had credibility ole has none with me.
I don't trust a word he says.
I could trust a lot of what Saf said but ole clown I wouldn't trust at all. I think he is a complete bufoon.

15.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 18:55:54
Here we are again, another reason to bash Ole. All Managers tell the press what they want them to hear, Ole is no different to everyone else.

16.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 19:23:55
Can anyone name a manager anywhere in the world who hasn't lied or bent the truth when talking to the press?

Its a part of the job. If you're dumb enough to believe everything that comes out of a managers mouth during a press conference then frankly you deserve to be lied to.

Saying anything but that Lingard is a part of his plans would knock several million pounds off of any fee we would get for him.

If you made a public statement that cost your company millions of pounds just to keep the customers happy you'd find yourself out of a job pretty quickly.

17.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 20:25:05
“You know the thing is when you step up to take a penalty, I think you've already won” the United boss said.

It’s not lies or bent truths but just spiel and nonsense to try to sound like he knows what he is talking about.

18.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 20:50:45
No it wouldn't shappy business doesn't work like that.

Exactly he talks in cliches all the time he is the proverbial empty vessel in most interviews.

20.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 21:52:58
Ken, people seem to think that managers run their clubs rather than are just employees.

The moment the managers stop toeing the line or outright go against the owners/ board/ club etc is normally the beginning of the end.

The club's employ press officers and media men whose job it is to control what information is let out, what is said and by who for the most part. They brief managers and players on what they can and can't say, they prepare or specifically select which questions are asked and have answers ready for them.

Very few press conferences are worth listening to, mostly the same answers and the same clichés the pundits say over and over again.

21.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 22:18:19
Crikey this is a negative fest. Seasons not even started, window not closed etc.

{Ed014's Note - finally you know how we all feel editing this page for the last 8 years! 😂😂

22.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 22:19:58
I see we're back to believing the guff a manager says in a press conference again. 🙄.

23.) 19 Jul 2021
19 Jul 2021 22:20:06
Shappy I get that and of course there are lots of deflections and areas to avoid and lines they need to feed. I'll add to that there are also a lot of dumb ass repetitive questions aimed at them.
But and I have to say its my personal opinion only, that he is so uninspiring to listen to. You watch touchel or klopp or pep or Jose in his pomp wenger fergie dare I say Gerrard now and even Rodgers, I can feel their intensity and their dribs and leadership even when they were s spouting clichés or lies they were worth listening to. They speak with authority and everybody listening fit the message. I don't think he had improved 1 iota on that front since the day he took over.
I see a manager walking alongside his players walking up a hill not a manager leading his team up the hill at a pace they need to follow.
I'm liking the rumours of our intention to play a more attacking style that would be the 1st step I'd like to see it's what the team do on the pitch not what ole says off it is what counts. I find him dull boring and insipid but I accept that some see him as an inspirational figure and someone to believe in.
Hopefully things will change for the better this season.

24.) 19 Jul 2021

Goodness me. Window not over, season not started but let’s bash the manager. Now for lies in the media lol. I’ve seen a load of rubbish on here before but this thread takes the biscuit 😂😂.

26.) 20 Jul 2021

20 Jul 2021 07:52:03
I'll take every opportunity possible to have a pop at ole. He disgusts me from start to finish. i'm on a crusade to have him fired. #clown #notfitforthejob.
Ole out.
Much more important to protest against the manager than the owners imo.

28.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 08:55:57
Or we could all just support the team and get behind them this season, that'd make much more difference than anything els we can do.

{Ed014's Note - that’s not even a valid question, do you really think any poster on here doesn’t support the team.

It doesn’t mean you have to like/love everything about Manchester United as a club, how they operate, who they employ, how much or little they spend etc etc.

It’s all about opinions, some love Pogba, some love Ole and of course the complete opposite.

Posters really should know and respect this by now. If you don’t like an opinion that’s life scroll on by.

29.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 09:19:17
Personally I don't think United will get rid of Ole as they want stability in the management setup having got rid of 3 managers post Fergie.

Certainly assessing the players, strategy and recruitment and letting some players go will be key feature of the pre-season and it is too early to judge at the moment.

The issue with both Mata and Matic is a curious one - they do offer a little bit of experience that may be useful when bringing on younger players. But then I think they are just bench players now. Mata could go but he likes being at United and I can see him in a support role when he does retire.

The goalkeeper issue is more pressing. De Gea needs to be more consistant or he will just find himself in the wilderness at OT. I think we should sell him. It will be better for him. Henderson is likely to be number one this season but he also needs to improve to guarantee himself number 1 spot. I think buying back Heaton was a good move but the one I can't understand is Grant - he is a perfectly good goalie. He should be playing first team for another team.

The squad does need trimming. Until someone makes the decisions I can't actually seeing this much. I think they will let contracts run down for people they don't want like Jones and then they go on the open market on a free.

On the positive sode there are numerous young players who are on verge of the first team which augurs well for the future.

Ole will stay this season and be judged on results . Silverware and success are a priority this year otherwise he will be sacked.

"I'm on a crusade to have him fired" 😂😂🙄.
Good luck with that Ken🙈.

31.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 11:10:24
You got to stand up for what you believe in remi.
I have no issue with anybody standing up for what they believe is right no matter how fruitless that may be.
Some are happy just to accept what's put before them i'm not one of those.
Of course I don't expect to have any impact but I will shout out at every opportunity.
Only ole can change my opinion and thus far he has done nothing to do that. i'm sure he is not 1 bit concerned by me or others that feel like I do. He disgusts me and is imo not fit for the job. i'm not sure there is any manager in the country that I would choose ole over.
Some dislike the owners i detest this manager really detest him and how he goes about his business.
Him and martial would put me off watching. I won't attend a game while he is in charge of the team.
As I said my stance won't mean anything to the club but it means I'm being true to myself and to what I believe in and that's more important to me.

32.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 13:48:59
Fair enough Ken 👍. Try not to let him upset ya too much though, God knows there's enough in this world to p. us all off, don't let football be one of them.

33.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 14:16:32
Ken, I think you might be disappointed. United have never sacked a coach who has achieved UCL qualification. As we are seeing this season whether it's because the club have faith in Ole or because they are trying to calm supporter unrest they have loosened the purse strings and are backing the manager with what certainly appears to be his/ the club's first choice signings.

That I think means that Ole would need to finish 5th next season to put his job at risk. I doubt that will happen. Which makes me think we have probably at least another two seasons of Ole at the wheel😂.

34.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 13:06:57
Ed014, I'd imagine most supporters are also happy with their partners as well. But I can't imagine that will be the case for long if all they do is talk about their partners faults.

I see supporting a club much like being in a relationship, you know they have faults but you love them anyway. It's fine to discuss those faults from time to time, but if you spend your time constantly telling everyone who'll listen about your partners faults then surely that's a sign that it isn't a relationship that is working for you. You either need to change up how you think/ act or go your separate ways.

{Ed014's Note - that’s why Ken wants a divorce from Ole!

35.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 15:10:22
Fair enough Ed, clearly time for me to leave these pages, been a poster 10 years, never trolled, never abused but not allowed my opinion on a thread of opinions, and bein told to scroll on like that ain't disrespectful in itself, no ta, tale care those who I've known on here this past decade, a great site but not for me anymore.

{Ed014's Note - Jesus are you being for real! 🤦‍♂️ I’ve not told you to stop doing anything just accept that people have a different opinion!

36.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 14:02:48
He doesn't upset me at all mate. Football is a hobby. i'm not engine my hobby for last 2 seasons but I will again. I play more golf now than before I don't travel over to games 10 times a year so I've got a lot more free time.
I usually buy corporate packages to bring customers over 5 or 6 times a season and then go with my lads a few times.
I now send an employee with the customers because I won't go and my lads go alone but I won't pay😑
I hope to get back there soon but the atmosphere is crazy at OT for most games anyway. Much better going to away games when I can get tickets with the away fans. Best and loudest support in the league as away fans and the home fans make the.

37.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 14:07:52
Crikey Ken. Disgusted by and detest OGS?

38.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 20:50:53
yes Eric. That's the way I feel and have done for some time. As I say I accept that lots of people feel differently.
I always hope and when we go a one of our good runs i don't try to pick out negatives.
I accept i am not at this stage blind to any positives and I carry a bias against him.
The biggest issue is the submissive dour way i see us play too often. It goes against everything a belive a Manchester United team should be. His rhetoric his deamonur everything about him i find totally uninspiring. Of course all teams play lack that on occasions but we go into most games set up like underdogs dogs and lethargic and it has ripped the life and soul out of my enjoyment of watching my team.
Maybe this next 150m spend leaving him not far shirty of 420m spend will help.
As I said the murmurings of a new aydin set up is music to my ears. If I see it's going out to win more games instead of being afraid to lose then I'll start enjoying watching us again Eric.
