Seems to be a hankering in this forum to get rid of Pogba. I’m wondering how many of the pro-Ole brigade agree with this?

While commercially the club would presumably want to keep PP, it would seem equally reasonable to assume that Ole has the final say. The signing of a new contract would only be with his blessing.

I think Pogba is a talented player who for the most part has a positive impact on the side when he's in it.

I think there are clear limitations or weaknesses in his game as there tends to be in everyone's game. No one uses Messi's poor aerial ability as a stick to beat him. Pogba's limitations seem to be in his mental ability to focus/ read the game from a defensive perspective or the application to do the dirty work. In a team that can cover those weaknesses he is a great player, in a team that can't he is a player capable of great things but is also a liability at times.

Like I said I think we are a better team with him in the side than out of it. That said if he doesn't want to be here then we should let him leave. I have the same stance on that be it Bruno, Rashford, Greenwood or anyone else. Players forced to be here will only damage the team spirit, if they want out them let them leave.

I would hope that is the managers view point as well, but I can appreciate that the manager will obviously be privvy to information about the group dynamic that none of us fans will have.

Wouldn’t agree with the for the most part.

Its been a bit of a circus of will be won't he for 3 years.
I'm not bothered 1 way or the other.
If he plays in midfield I'd be happy enough.
I wonder with rashford out will he play on the left?
I'd be happy enough too if he left. Not really delivered been injured a bit and but he did have magic moments in him without doubt.
With the right coach and the right players around him that compliment his weaknesses he can be superb.
I'm not a fan of the circus that surround him but that's the modern era for someone of his profile.
If he doesn't sign a new contract and doesn't leave what do you do?

Quality player and would be a significant miss if he left but not the end of the world by a long stretch.

He should have been gone years ago but Ole done everything in his power to make him stay.

He's been average for us. A few ups, a few downs, a lot of meh performances. He's leaving in a year 100%.

We have had long enough to plan without him. There are literally dozens of footballers who could be more beneficial to the team and actually want to be here.

Not again! Simply hasn't worked out. He is a liability most times and isn't going to be missed for his once in a while performances.

As Mumbles says he should have gone years ago and I would be happy to see him leave taking along all the media circus and his frustrating agent with him somewhere else.

Bruno has come in and shown how it's done on the pitch without all the nonsense and we need more players like him who play the game with such great passion.

{Ed0666's Note - At least Pogba is a whining little biatch who goes down holding his ankle when an opponent gets within 50 yards of him …And if both played to their potential pogba is the better player

Ed0666, that's the issue with Pogba that people still weigh his potential over his performances. And I am not sure if he would be the better player as both will have a huge impact on the game.

{Ed0666's Note - pogba in full flow mate is pretty much unplayable. Imagine Pogba playing for a manager he respects in a team he enjoys playing in? He’d be on monster mode! Pogba over crybaby all day long for me mate.

Ed0666, I would rather have a player playing with passion and gives in his all over someone like Pogba who needs everything his way to perform.

{Ed0666's Note - not sure crybaby has given his all the last part of the season

I'd have Pogba in midfield any day ahead of Fred/ McTominay pivot.
Atleast he makes something happen rather than sideways/ back passes.

Paul Pogba will take the easy way out, sign for PSG and get an absolute fortune out of it and play in a tin pot league which will make him look like a billion dollar player then all will be good in the world of Paul Pogba.

you also need to factor in how key players were overplayed by Ole.

sim01975, agreed.

Just don't understand people still hyping him up just based on a few performances every now and then and on his potential. There are always excuses in abundance for him not performing.

As others have commented why don't people allow Pogba some slack re his defensive duties. Its not his forte. Messi the same. If we had a stable top centre back pairing with a top defensive midfielder like kante in front it would liberate him to do what he does best. don't blame him for the teams and managers shortcomings.

Last year he stayed deeper to help the side yet still played some killer passes. Imagine how much more effective he would be in his proper position. He is a creative player with imagination. I didn't hear any reports about him sulking last year and by all accounts is liked by the other players and staff.

If we had top players playing in their correct positions then judge him.

Yes he may go to PSG which is in a rubbish league but Poch is building something there and in Europe I would fear a good team with Pogba in.

Salford7, what would be his proper position however?

If he plays further up the pitch he needs to be disciplined enough to not lose the ball. He is very static with his movement most times and needs that little bit of extra time on the ball and being closer to the opposition area he is going to be hunted down quicker.

PSG would certainly suit him.

His favourite position is basically a position where he has no responsibility and he can prance around in his own little world doing Paul Pogba things.

sim01975, yes sort of a free role with zero responsibility would suit him I guess.

Unfortunately gone are the days when the opposition used to give too much respect to top teams, now the games have become so competitive that every player needs to be responsible and play a role if they aspire to win things.

I'm all for cutting players slack over weaknesses such as a physical limitation (being slow, short etc) or lacking a particular skill, so long as the player works to compensate in other ways.

For example, tackling was a skill Scholes never mastered, but he still contributed defensively.

Pogbas weakness is simply a lack of effort and that is one of the only flaws I find hard to simply accept.

Thorne, I agree. Effort is the very least we can expect from a player paid millions.

However, I think he isn't mentally up for it to focus and put in performances consistently and simply lacks the burning desire to be the best.
