Probably the best player to compliment Maguire as well. A top class CDM and that's probably the best window in a decade.

I’ll hold off on celebrating until I see him holding up the shirt, but Fabrizio is rarely wrong on these things. Fair play to the club if they can get this deal over the line. If they can get rid of Pogba and replace him with Saul or Rice too, I can genuinely see us challenging on all fronts next season.

When Maguire came to United he was supposed to play right centre back as that was his best position, but he tends to play left central back with Lindelof.
With the arrival of Varane will he now move to the right side of central defence and let Varane take the left side.

{Ed077's Note - Maguire was always seen as a LCB option. I have not seen Varane play LCB even once. Usually Ramos played left of the CB pairing for RM (in the past years) and Deschamps has always opted for a left footer to partner Varane in the centre of French defence, like Umtiti, Lenglet and Kimpembe.

So I would think Varane would most probably be deployed in the right side of a CB pairing.}

Varane has played noth sides for real madrid and france.
I agree with dsg I wouldn't change maguire he played there fit Leicester and England usually. i'm not sure he was brought to play RCB grim he rarely played there before he joined and we already had 3 RCB's in the squad.
Either way great to have Varane if he signs. He is a proper player, winner, leader.

Its was the view of Paul Parker I was using Ken. He said Maguire's best side was the right and that is why we bought him.

If live to see Jones get a free transfer to someone.
Hard to see too many signing him up with his injury record.
If he was like Williams usually fit and looking to play i could understand him taking a hit in salary to play elsewhere. But he would likely be taking a hit in salary to be in a different treatment room so I'm sure he is being advised to sit tight and see out his massive contract.

I'd like to see slab head on the left with Varane central and Wan Bissaka on the right of a three. That's if we brought in Trippier or hung on to Dalot. Would be a good option IMO.

Well Ken. We certainly need to get a DM in that can play alone so that we can utilise more forwards. Even without that though there are many games throughout the season and we will need to change things up for certain opposition. It's just something I'd be keen to see at some point.

Rohan, AWB is far from the finished article and a player like Varane will help his development.

Def shouldn't be playing a back three regularly with the players we have at our disposal. Absolutely pointless with the attack we can put out.

Wouldn't go as far a saying it's pointless. Some games will need our wide players to tuck into pockets and they will need players to get beyond them to give options and make us less predictable. I do agree though that the shape wouldn't be best suited week in week out.
