So Barça can't afford Messi on half his ordinary wages, but they can afford a huge transfer fee and high wages for Haaland? Sounds logic.

J
Haaland will sign for Madrid next season.

I really hope we sign Messi - who doesn't want to hear a commentator say "Messi won't get to that, Phil Jones has overhit that pass"

No to Neves, great a few years ago but been average for at least a season if not 2. Sancho and Varane are great signings and set the bar high, let’s keep it high.

No chance we will sign TWO midfielders.

Tony, I think that is harsh, last season Neves was the only midfielder to complete over 60 tackles AND over 60 interceptions. While also making the third most passes into the final third from a CDM. That's a little better than average. What I think let Neves down last season was the injury to Jimenez and the poor form of Traore meant Wolves were ironically toothless. While the injuries to Podence and Neto throughout the season meant they really couldn't get a settled side. While I think Fabio Silva will be a great player, you can't rely on a 18 year old new to the league and the country to carry your attack through most of a season.

It could indeed spark a merry-go-round but not sure on a few of those.
Messi to PSG - almost certain, who on earth would be nuts enough to pay him? Man City maybe until they signed Grealish.
Pogba to PSG? As well as Messi? I think it closes the door. I see Italy as being his most likely destination.
Mbappe to Real? Haaland to Real? Can't see both happening in the next few seasons. Mbappe probably, possibly as a loan this season?
Haaland to Barcelona? Messi frees up a tonne of money. But enough to buy Haaland? Doesn't seem logical. Then again, where these Spanish teams are concerned (and moreso PSG) they seem to find a way to do anything.
And finally. Saul/ Neves to Utd? Hopefully we will get an update in the coming days. It seems until Pogba moves on nothing can happen as far as Utd are concerned.

It defies belief that Messi/ Barca took so long to agree a contract (even on half his wages), but the club knew all along it would break FFF rules. Makes you wonder what other incentives were offered and how much even half his salary was. Also an indicator of how weak their squad currently is that you can't see where they'd raise the cash to balance it. Depay on a free sums it up.

Does anyone think this is Barcelona trying to put a bit of pressure on la liga? I could be way off but I still believe we'll see Messi play for Barcelona.

LLV,

Ed002 on other rumours pages has hinted that Barcelona are offering the most creative solution to snare Haarland next year, possibly involving offering a higher fee than the release clause (please forgive me Ed002 if I’ve misinterpreted what you wrote! )

Messi still might end up back with Barca. He's a free agent, they'll be trying to get rid of players. If they manage to do so, I'm sure they will go straight back to Messi and look to bring him back?

It's obviously an enormous mess at Barcelona to let someone like Messi leave in this way.

Wallace, their president is speaking now, they miscalculated their losses, which are twice what was expected. He doesn't seem optimistic the situation will be totally reversed any time soon.

Rjmanutd, Laporta said they would need to clear four times Messi's salary to be able to register him on his reduced salary. Not impossible but very unlikely.

As much as I would love him to come to Utd, Haaland will go to Bayern. Barcelona can’t afford him, Real are all in for Mbappe and can’t afford both plus will need to rebuild their midfield, City want Kane so it sits perfect for Bayern. He can win trophies for a few seasons and then get another big move after that. Maybe we might be lucky and get Lewandowski to replace Cavani and help develop Greenwood even more but he will likely end up at Juve or PSG.

Yeah just seen that as well. To put it politely they are in a tough spot.

Still astounding that such mismanagement occurs in football. Barcelona are in a mess but we've seen it all over the place with clubs going into liquidation, administration etc.
