As much as I would have liked grealish, with the probability of his antics occurring again I think the 100mil paid for Johnny jerkoff as 002 would say, was a dodged bullet.

I think its a real 50/ 50 type transfer. he has the ability to be one of the best players in the league, but there is a real danger that his attitude/ mentality means he either doesn't cope not being the big fish or his antics cause him issues with Pep. Who is ultra professional.

I think there are players out there with similar qualities, with less chance of them failing available for maybe half the cost.

I think the thing is though that City seem to be making a push for more English/ homegrown players. Which is why in my opinion they went for Grealish.

We'll see, but I think Grealish has all the qualities to do well at City under Guardiola. They're a possession side, and he's both extremely difficult to shake off the ball and quite creative.

I would assume they've been assessing his character for a long time before forking out squillions on him and aren't too concerned about what they've seen.

Whilst not defending Grealish, nearly everyone said far worse about Cantona’s character when SAF bought him and we know how that turned out.

True Red Man, that said I can't think of a better man manager than Sir Alex though. He knew what buttons to press and how to handle the players.

Some players Shappy like all managers he had his failures too but thankfully he fit a lot more right than wrong.
I look at it this way.
If kane replaces aguero he won't do any better than aguero imo.
If grealish replaces silve he won't do as well or better than silva imo.

So are city stronger than wenger with those 2? I don't think so.
Where as varane will replace lindelof and should do better and sancho is replacing James/ greenwood and i'd expect him to do better than those 2.
Grealish is a fine player but imo not all that. i'm sure he trains hard and most of the silly stuff will disappear as he matures. If he turns out to be 70% as good for city as silva was i'd say they will be happy. Big price tag big pressure it will be interesting to see how he performs in the medium term. He is not the brightest bulb in the box so it won't be easy for him.

Shappy, he was the best at man management. And whilst ole has taken tidbits to keep certain players happy, he needs to show his ruthless side. Some will point to how he shouted at jesse 'one more time and you're off' incident. But he needs to be more decisive in his choices, particularly in using his squad effectively and in game management. But I don't think anyone could deny that he certainly has shown certain players a lot of love, maybe when they shouldn't have. The camaraderie is a lot better, but for me he hasn't translated to the team that there is competition for places and if you don't pull your weight your watching from the sidelines. He seems too much of a people pleaser and a yes man. To go from Molde to United like he has, he doesn't want to upset the upper echelons. And I think he's paying too much ode to fergie. Bringing phelan back, not taking fergies parking spot at training etc.

Refer back to the man of course, he's a wealth of knowledge but ole needs to be his own man. There will never be another fergie.

Ken, our bench is getting stronger as well.
Sancho will push Greenwood out of first X1. So Greenwood can be a good option from bench against tired defenses.

TRD,

Greenwood will likely play on the RW whislt Rashford is injured unless Ole decides to play Pogba on the LW. Nonetheless, we have a few options even with Rashford out. Greenwood might get some minutes up top too.

I'm rather hoping Elanga gets game time this season. The lad looks really good. I'd rather that he played than Dan James.

I reckon we will see plenty of games with Sancho LW and Greenwood RW. It will be interesting to see come the end of the season how many he starts on either side but it might be closer than people are expecting.

Ken, I don't think Grealish and Kane are individually better than Silva and Aguero. However, they could in theory make the collective stronger than Silva and Aguero did.

I doubt Kane will score more goals on average than Aguero did. Yet last season Kane was the top assister in the league. While Aguero might have scored 25-30 goals for City across the season, Kane would probably match that AND get 10-15 assists.

While Grealish is a very different player to Silva. Grealish is about carrying the ball, and forcing things to happen. Silva used the ball to do the work. So their styles are very different. That could have one of two impacts. Either Grealish won't work well with the rest of the players and won't be able to adapt to Pep's system. Or he does adapt and offers them something new creating a totally new dimension to their play that enables them to more easily breakdown stubborn well organised sides.

Kane I think is the more obvious and bigger upgrade with little to no risk. While Grealish is more of a gamble, but if it works it adds something totally new to what is probably already the most dangerous side in the league.

You don't think Greenwood is all that? Wow. I think he's a special player. Our options up top now are very very good. Continued development of youth plus Cavani resign plus Sancho is right up there. Not many better squads in europe for those attacking roles. I know I'm biased.

Jack Grealish will go on to be the best player in the league and one of the best in Europe. 100 million well spent, he is a class act.

Agree with you Ken. Spends too much time looking for the foul. He'll fit in perfectly at City.

He won't even be in the top handful of players at City.
Wonder how many penalties City will be getting next season? I put it at towards 20+.

Grealish will be an excellent signing for City. Whether he’s worth £100m is a matter for debate, but given that we paid around that for Pogba and Lukaku, it seems like pretty good value to me. The only issue is that his arrival seems likely to push Bernardo Silva out of the door, which I see as a big loss for them. If the rumors about AM being interested in the lad are true though, their loss could be our gain. I recall reading that AM aren’t doing too well financially, so any move for Silva would probably require them to raise some cash. Given our supposed interest in Trippier and Saul, that could definitely work in our favor (especially with Trippier, who seems set on a move to Old Trafford) .
