Andreas Perriera earns 1.5m a year salary. The highest paid world leader earns the same (Singapore) and Phil Jones earns more than double that.

It's pretty poor reading to say the least. But the whole thing needs looking at.
A salary-cap across the sport should be implemented across Europe, not just to Spain or wherever as that leads to what we've just seen with Messi.

While Tom Cruise earns between $12-18m per film as a base salary before his percentage based on box office performance etc. Despite being an absolutely terrible actor who can only play one role, a parody of the man he thinks he is.

If Tom was paid what he's worth then he'd be the poorest actor in Hollywood. But that's not the world we live in.

Its the opposite to your point shappy. You said if he is paid what he's worth he would be poorest actor in Hollywood. Inferring that he is paid a lot more than you think he is worth.
Whereas he is paid what he is worth by better judges than you. (People who know the movie business with experience in it etc) he is paid these sums because his movies generate profits.

The market, over time and over a very large sample, corrects itself. There are always exceptions like Phil Jones earning twice of that amount. There are always fat tails in distributions in the real world.

But that's not the world we live in, you often aren't paid by the quality of your work, but by the profitability of your work.

Subjectively Tom Cruise is a poor actor, yet his films tend to do well at the box office and as such he is paid well for them.

Shappy does have a point.

There are countless examples where the so called top stars are nothing but decent actors who sell more than their worth because of their marketability, brand, personality and other factors.

If these actors were to be judged only by their acting skills they wouldn't make the grade.

They are great assets for the industry and that's why they get paid a lot, not because they are great actors. There maybe a few exceptions.

Lpu they are not being paid for their acting skills they get the job because they sell. That is their job fronting movies that sell. So they do their job as asked.
As soon as they start producing movies that don't sell they won't get paid as much.
Arnie couldn't act at all but his movies sold so he was paid what he was worth.
Footballers on the other hand get paid regardless of their ability to deliver.

I ramble on a lot and post more than I probably should, but trust me I'm not full of myself, and I certainly don't take myself that seriously.

I'm a fan, and of course what I post is my opinion. I never try and pretend otherwise. If I had to write "in my opinion" in front of every opinion I post then the word count would be at least 30% higher than it is.

The great thing about opinions is we are all entitled to one. Just as everyone else is entitled to disagree with it if they want.

You are right, it is my opinion that Tom Cruise is a poor actor, this is based on every performance he does could be the same character regardless of the film. He can't do anything other than Ethan Hunt. Which in my opinion is a parody of the person he thinks he is.

There's no denying his films sell well and as such he gets a lot of money for them.

I find it funny that after reading the site for years, Tom Cruise is the hill you choose to die on. For all the discussions we have on here regarding Manchester United football club, be that players, managers, tactics, the owners, the state of football, rule changes, VAR, bad refereeing, the Super League or any of the other football related things we talk about. But no, someone doesn't think Tom Cruise is a good actor and that's the one you feel the need to jump in on.

Won't have a bad word said about Tom Cruise's acting. Always good, movies are usually on the money. The guy also does all his own stunts, I mean he goes above and beyond. Top it all off, his movies always make a killing.

Top gun is one of my favourite movies of all time. saw it 1st in a drive in movie theatre in LA and was about 18. loved it. Still feel sorry for goose angel🤣.
