I wonder if the rumour suggesting James Garner has not yet signed a new contract has anything to do with the clubs links to Eduardo Camavinga?

To be honest if I was Garner and being sent out on loan at the age of 20 when the club are signing an 18 year old to play with the first team who plays in my position. I would wonder what my long term future at the club really is and whether I wanted to tie myself to the club for the next 4-5 years.

Reinforces ed002s criticism that this club has no idea or strategy when setting out a roadmap for younger players.

Where are these links Shappy? From what I can see it i lazy press again and its very clear that even if we did want him, he doesn't want to come to England. I'm not saying Garner isn't frustrated but I doubt its got anything to do with transfer rumours.

Maybe it’s just because they don’t think Garner is good enough! You would think at 20 he should be doing something in the EPL but nope, so maybe just another average player! That everyone pinning there hopes on.

exactly skyliner.

if he was good enough just like bellingham for example he would either be playing at a big club playing 40 games a season or going on loan

people go on about matic and fred but they are both miles better than garner.

I've no doubt he is not good enough yet and I don't know if he ever will be. But I'd have to say if I was advising any united players at the moment I'd be saying either leave or go out on loan i'd be doing everything I could to keep my clients as far away from ole as possible.

It’s united specs by Fans, oh keep Garner at the club, even with Matic on one leg he is miles in front of Garner and dare I say it Fred is better too, and Fred would never be in my team……

I have said it before, last season Ole took of Greenwood when other players were contributing less, because easy way out for Ole, now Sancho takes Greenwood’s place, OK Greenwood free to play centre forward in place of Cavani in some games but he won’t because Ole will Play Martial there!

Garner is not ready yet, that doesn't mean he'll never be ready.

Rooney made his debut at 16, as did Bellingham. So does that mean if a kid hasn't made their debut by 17 the club should just release them as they obviously aren't going to make it.

That's ridiculous. Macheda made his debut at 17, Scholes didn't make his debut until he was 19. Which was the better player?

Garner almost single handedly dragged Forest out of a relegation scrap in half a season.

That said he still needs to develop further before he is ready for the first team on a regular basis. Maybe he'll never be good enough, but unless you give him a chance you'll never know.

Shappy you answered your own question, he helped forest on his own as you say…. in the First division, last time I looked that does not make him top of EPL quality, there is a million miles of difference

When Scholes made his debut he stood out, same as Rooney Same as Bellingham, ok some are late bloomers, but normally you can see a stand out player and I’m afraid if you pinning your hopes on Garner your more deluded then I first thought.

Skyliner, what division did Bellingham stand out in for him to get his move to Dortmund again?

Did Beckham stand out in his games for Preston?

Garner has stood out at Forest, that is why both Norwich and Brighton have enquired about him.

In some positions you want a player to stand out, in others not so much. Players stand out easier when they play in attacking positions. You get much more recognision from scoring a goal than making a block or knowing when to play a quicker ball or a slower sideways ball.

Carrick wasn't appreciated for much of his career because the things he excelled at don't easily stand out on the pitch, particularly if you are watching on TV.

Garner has clear ability, will he make the most of it? Who knows.

But he is highly thought of at the club for a reason.

Shappy I agree he needs a good loan. He had a good 6 months at forest and is well thought of there.
I don't blame him not wanting to commit his future to us. I hope he does sign an extention and gets a good loan move.
He looks to have a good future ahead of him but it may not be at united. Only 1 youngster had come through in a sustained way in the last 3 years its becoming harder to make your way through from the academy and that's a real shame but that's the managers decision he appears to prefer to hold onto to and trust older players.

GDS2. Seriously wrong there, no admirer that’s for sure, just fed up reading the complete and utter BS he comes up with 50% of the time, the other 50% is too boring to read

No problem having opinions, that’s what makes it interesting but he tries to preach that he is right and everyone else is wrong then tries to back up with stats from spending too much time on Google.

I been thinking this is right this is wrong, this is how we should play, this is what the club should do, this is how to run a professional club, this is who we should sign, this is who should be in first team, Shappy knows it all, I wonder why a professional EPL club not signed him up as CEO by now, after all football is football Shappy even the Sunday league is the same, as you say!

I know GDS, it all started because I don't rate Tom Cruise as a great actor.

He's sweet though so I think I'll keep him😂.
