If you could have only 2 players sign up for Manchester United before the end of this transfer window who would they be?
Money and availability are not to be considered for this purpose.
My choices would be kalvin Phillips and erling halland.
They would solve the only 2 remaining issues with our starting 11.

I would go with Jan Oblak and Joshua Kimmich.

Taking a realistic approach to this, I would take Neves now before the end of the transfer window. A disciplined CM who can link the defense and attack much like Carrick did for us.

I think Haaland will sign for us next year. I can't see Dortmund selling Sancho and Haaland in the same season and I genuinely think the reason the club worked hard to convince Cavani to stay on one more season is for this reason also.

My concern about Trippier coming in is that he would more than likely play more games than Wan-Bissaka and I don't know how that benefits Wan-Bissaka and not sure it would have a positive impact on him after being the 1st choice RB for the past 2 seasons and he is a player that can be our RB for the next 7/ 8 years so should be playing regularly. I do think though a challenge for him would be good to push him on similar to what it appears Telles has done for Shaw so potentially a RB like Ricardo from Leicester or Danilo from Juventus or Segi Roberto from Barcelona who all 3 I would imagine would be more willing or understanding of their role to play back up RB, similar to Telles than Trippier would be as I imagine he would want some guarantees on game time.

Haaland and Frenkie de Jong.

Haaland and Saul for me, in terms of the best players irrespective of everything else.

Of course dozens of players improve the team - Oblak an interesting one but not a priority in my view.

In terms of what Utd need right now with Cavani and Pogba on the books, a striker is not a priority as we have too many striker options. As things stand we could use midfield upgrades - one defensive, one more creative.

Still love the energy Renato Sanches gave Portugal in the Euros, although sadly he's undergone knee surgery so would be as much use right now as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Saul and Neves? Greedy?

Unrealistic
Lewandowski and Kimmich

Realistic
Bellingham and Casemiro.

Oblak bellingham.

What do people not understand about us and haaland? He will not be joining us. Simple as.

Mbappe and Haaland
Front 3 of Mbappe Haaland and Sancho would be frightening with Rashford Cavani and Greenwood rotating.

I realise I am in a massive minority here, but I’m not a fan of Haaland. His record is immense but every time I’ve watched him he has been nothing special. Many players do well in Germany but not in other leagues. Yes yes I know his Champions league record is amazing but the majority of those goals have been in the early rounds.

The boy has talent but I worry he is a flat track bully.

Bring it on.

I'm not sure he is a flat track built and I think he is very good. But I have said it for the last 6 months greenwood will be a better player than haaland imo. When masons phial physique tops out he will improve further. 2 feet unreal instinct for goal scoring he has lots to learn he is still growing but his ceiling is higher than Haalands imo.

I wouldn't go with the obvious Haaland.

Not doubt he's a great player, I just feel he has another couple of moves in him before he hits his thirties. I can see him being Mino's new Zlatan.

Plus I have a lot of faith in Mason Greenwood, signing a 21 year old striker like Haaland is to effectively shut the door in Mason's face. With Haaland as a first choice ST and Sancho at RW there will be no where left for him.

It's no secret that it is in midfield that I think as being out weakest area. Joshua Kimmich for me is the best midfielder money could buy. With Frenkie De Jong a close second. Realistically Ruben Neves I think would transform the way we play.

I'm not sure we need much more than that.

We have several great prospects at RB including Laird who if he can avoid injuries could be special.

I wouldn't want to sign two midfielders as I also have faith in Garner. While I hope Donny could still come good. Along with McTominay who I really rate and think could be similar to Fletcher, a player you don't really appreciate until he isn't there.

We are also stacked in the wide attack areas. Rashford and Sancho as first choice. Greenwood and James as back up. Yet we also have Pellistri, Amad, Elanga and Shoretire who all have the quality to make it at the highest level.

RedWhiskey, what do you not understand about the point of this thread? Any two players, irrespective of anything else. Even the people running the club have no clue what is going to happen tomorrow but there are plenty of people here who seem to know everything beyond doubt.

13.) 18 Aug 2021
18 Aug 2021 21:05:37
Spenno it was in relation to Ports. Chill. However I will be taking 002s very well informed opinion when it comes to Haaland. We've no relationship with his agent, being the main point. He's going to be massively in demand and who in their right mind is going to push their agent to deal with the amateurs with the dream of playing under the mastermind that is ole. It's just not going to happen. So yeah I think you can take that as beyond reasonable doubt.

14.) 18 Aug 2021
18 Aug 2021 21:06:31
Mason has great potential and should go on to be a very good player .
Haaland is already a great player, just turned 21 in July and has 62 goals in his last 61 games .
Nothing to say he won't continue to improve as well.

15.) 18 Aug 2021
18 Aug 2021 21:45:11
Red whiskey - We signed a World Cup winner and 4 x Champions League winner in his prime who seemed happy to come and play for Solskjaer, whether people like it or not there is a relationship with Solskjaer and Haaland, there is also a relationship with Sancho so let’s not pretend players don’t chat. The premier league is more appealing than La Liga now and as for his agent, let’s not pretend he is interested in anything other than money. When it comes to Haaland leaving, we will be well in the mix.

16.) 18 Aug 2021
18 Aug 2021 22:08:01
So question Redwhiskey, if we don’t get him where does he go? Raiola and United don’t have a relationship so that will cost us in your opinion. Chelsea have just signed Lukaku so probably puts them out. City? If you think our relationship with Raiola will cost us, Raiola hates Guardiola. Munich? Dortmund won’t want to sell to them and will push for another league. Madrid? They’re main target is Mpabbe. Barcelona? Are they going to be in a position to sign him financially? PSG? I think Haaland wants to prove himself at the highest level, which Premier League is. Italian clubs? Same as PSG and financial situation.

Now he may well join anyone of those clubs obviously but to say he won’t join us without any doubt I think is ridiculous, IMO.

Ports, Haaland is available for €68m next summer, which is a little more than £55m currently at that price literally every team could effectively afford him. In fact at that price you could sign him then sell him a year later for at least double what you paid for him, maybe even triple.

Every top side will be interested regardless of the signings they make this summer.

Real Madrid ideally want Mbappe this summer and Haaland next summer. Which would give them a frightening front line.

Bayern are very much in the hunt. As will be PSG, looking to pair him with Neymar and Messi after Mbappe will have left.

At that price you can't rule out one of the Italian sides, their tax laws would make wages less of an issue. And like I said they could look to add a top class talent for a year or two then sell at a huge price. Also Mino is half Italian and has many great links with most of the top sides in Italy.

Chelsea would still be interested, as would City, and don't dismiss Liverpool. Chelsea are not opposed to having more than one top player for a position. City also, and I doubt Pep and Mino not seeing eye to eye would be an issue, Pep doesn't do the negotiations after all. Liverpool will have both Mane and Salah as 30 year olds next summer and will need to refresh their front line. At the quoted €68m they could easily finance that deal.

We burned our bridges with Mino and as such unless we go grovelling back won't be in a position to get involved in the Haaland deal.

Honestly lads, don't get your hopes up. Can reason all ya want, it has been stated numerous times on here that he won't be joining MU. And when a certain someone states that, you have to take note as he is very rarely wrong on these things.

19.) 19 Aug 2021
19 Aug 2021 06:56:52
Redwhiskey things change all the time, I've seen that many times on the site .
Shappy haalands wage demands will be huge especially at a relatively low transfer fee not many will be able to afford it .

As for mino. Money will always be the deciding factor.

20.) 19 Aug 2021
19 Aug 2021 09:05:19
His wages demands will be high, but not beyond what most top sides are already paying players at their club.

While Mino might value money highly, but at the end of the day he is there to facilitate his clients wishes. If Haaland wants to accept an offer from a club offer lower wages and less in terms of agents fee then that is the offer they will accept.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Haaland arrive in Italy next summer, stay for a couple of years then move to Spain or England for a astronomical fee.

It makes sense. There is no rush for him to move to Spain or England where he'll earn the most and get the most exposure to build himself as a brand. He had the choice to move to England from Austria, but chose to go to Germany. His dad wants him to take his career one step at a time and not try and make too big a jump at once. While Mino will be more than happy to move him multiple times and receive a large fee each time.

I could see him going to Juventus next summer as a replacement for Ronaldo, spend a couple of years in Turin before moving to England or Spain still under the age of 25.

21.) 19 Aug 2021
19 Aug 2021 09:25:47
I'm not convinced the club needs two players. A solid DM, either Rice or Neves would be perfect, although there are other options. Like others, I feel Greenwood is perfect for the striker role, and he'll only get better. I also like Elanga and think he has all the qualities of a top number 9, gets in the right places at the right time, is physically impressive, just needs to improve his finishing a little. So I could see Greenwood and Elanga being tthe two options up front for a long time. Dalot I'm still on the fence about, he does offer a more offensive alternative to AWB and doesn't prevent his development. But if the club really feel they need an upgrade, I would take a punt at Bellerin, still fairly young, is better on the offense than AWB so provides a different option, for those teams who just sit back, and is reportedly available for about £20. Although, it my be worth sticking with Dalot this season and seeing how Laird and Williams fair on loan.

Haaland will not be joining Manchester United next season or any other season. The club won't even try to sign him.

23.) 19 Aug 2021
19 Aug 2021 10:02:45
Money as always will talk very few will be able to afford haalands wage demands.
I'm not going g to pretend I know what's going on behind the scenes at the top clubs in Europe like one or 2 are .
But at a guess I would say his demands will be high possible beyond what some are willing or able to pay .

24.) 19 Aug 2021
19 Aug 2021 10:48:35
His wage demands might put a few teams off, but I think most top sides could afford him.

Bayern pay Lewandowski over 350k per week and with him leaving he there would be the wage budget to pay Haaland.

Do City and PSG really have a wage budget?

Would the demands really be beyond Abramovich as Chelsea?

Juventus will be losing Ronaldo next summer so should easily be able to pay Haaland.

Barcelona may be put off, but Real Madrid are in the process of moving older highly paid players off the wage bill. Players like Bale, Benzema, Modirc are all likely to leave next summer, freeing up more than enough money for Haaland.
