Do we envision Cavani relinquishing the #7 shirt for Cristiano? Would be very strange if he didn't considering the CR7 brand.

Rw there is conficting reports on whether its allowed, unless the player leaves he can't offer his Jersey no for change to another player mid season. I stress not confirmed.

I read somewhere that as Cavani hasn’t played yet this season, Ronaldo could take the number 7. Don’t think Cavani could take the 9 though.

It has to be an exceptional reason to change squad numbers after they have been submitted to the Premier League, marketing reasons is not considered a reason.
He has a choice of 12, 15, 24, 28 and 30. I'm putting my money on 28 as that was the number he requested when he first came to United.
