We need squad dept we now have that,

We needed a proper cm but we can't have it all we have signed 3 quality players 4 including heaton, a few have gone on loan.

Rashford and pogba for lw
Ronaldo and cavani for st
Sancho and greeneood for rw
Bruno and lingard or even donny for number 10
We have fred and mctominay for the 2 cdms with most likly matic and maybe dvb to cover
Varane and maguuire are covered by lind and bailly
Both full backs are covered.

I think this is the strongest team we have has post sir alex, can rotate and the drop off in quality is not that much

No excuses now the team has the ability and quality is there we just have to show it.

Actually looking forward to the season.

Looks great on paper I’d agree. But the midfield will let us down.

If Sir Alex had this team we would challenge for the title.
But the thing is Ole is our manager.
A lot of times his team setups are so horribly wrong.
Yes we are one midfielder short from having an almost perfect squad
But most teams around Europe are like that.
If I was ole, I would start van de Beek for next 5 games and see how he actually performs.
Show some confidence in the lad and give him a proper go.
He has more than earned it after his pre-season showing.
Play matic and Donny, and let's see how many bad games they actually have.
Can always replace with fred after half time or 60 mins.

Clearly the position we should have addressed is that of a holding centre midfielder. Our options are Matic (getting on but still pretty effective), McTominay (decent but that's it) and Fred (I'm really not sure what his strengths are) . I honestly don't understand what OGS sees in Fred. He is physically weak, his passing is generally poor and he offers little to the team. We also have Van De Beek who clearly has a good footbal brain and technical expertise. Surely he would be a better option than Fred.

Sir Alex won title with Cleverly/ Anderson alongside Carrick.

Ole has no excuses especially after blocking VDB's exit.

The squad is filled with attacking super stars.
Lets hope we play to our strengths and play with United DNA.

We've won the league with worse squads than this.
I don't think matic had that bad a game as it's been made out.
Fred has had 2 shockers now.
I don't think it's that easy even playing alongside fred. I saw Pogba shouting at him to go deeper and make a passing angle, he didn't respond.
His positioning is not great and I don't think there's any reason apart from his constant running we should play him.
We let a better player in garner go on loan to nottm forest.

I think the bigger question is what do Carrick and Fletcher see in our midfielders - especially Carrick who is on the training ground each day - you would think Carrick would be put in a padded room to watch the post game analysis as he watches Fred shin the ball out for a throw in and fail to make passes Carick could make blindfolded and with one leg encased in concrete.

Would love to see Olly give Donny a go in the next game against Newcastle at home especially with an away trip to Young Boys on the following Tuesday. We are entering a period after the international break where it will be 2 games a week through September with the PL games getting more challenging.
Lets see how his new physique and training over the summer has done and he will also have the next week and half training as well due to not being in the dutch squad. The only logic for not playing him and rejecting his transfer is if Olly sees him playing the Champions League games.
Either way let's see what he can do.

Exactly Brad, I imagine we might see Matic and Donny together in the UCL games. The pace is not usually quite so frenetic, could be the plan for early season.

I think the only way Donny is going out of the club.
I've seen him play well, and next game been benched for weeks.
Now the customary 85min substitutes have disappeared.
Underutilized for no apparent reason.
He may not be a shiny name but a midfielder who does the simple things well is underrated.
