Now the window has closed a thought and a question on Ronaldo. Yes I am excited to see him back, even at 36 he has something to offer. If he doesn't get support he will demand more, from team mates, coaches, manager the lot.

Ronaldo is a driven pure winner and a clear leader, vastly experienced and very tactically aware. Have we just signed a potential player manager/ manager going forward? Would Ronaldo, a genius of a footballer, make or want to be a manager at all (I read it wasn't his aim) or would the pull of being United manager be too much to ignore. Great players don't always make great managers, but SAF was a leader as well as a manager and Ronaldo is a leader. It may not be what Ronaldo wants, it may be another risk given what we have, however, I wonder if the leader in Ronaldo is very different to Ole. I am not one for emotional appointments but you wonder if there is a thought process in his purchase, on the future management as an option.

Second question is where is Ronaldo's son going? Would he go into our academy or is he already somewhere else?

I think signing Ronaldo with a thought process of being a future manager is a bit of a stretch. I think we signed Ronaldo because when either Messi or Ronaldo become available you don't not attempt to sign them if you have a chance.

I guess Ronaldo's son will join up with our Academy.

I think being a manager is something that would not appeal to ronaldo.

Always get the feeling he will opt for david beckhams route out of football via the MLS, increased celebrity and endorsements/ business ventures.

We signed him for the sole reason that he was going to join city and nothing else in my opinion.

I doubt the thought of Ronaldo being a future manager ever crossed anyone's mind when looking at signing him.

Simply he is still a great player, top scorer in Serie A last season, top scorer at the Euro's. Physically fitter than most 28 year old footballers. More than capable of scoring 25-35 goals a season. While bringing excellent top level experience. With the added bonus of being universally loved by all United fans and taking a lot of heat off the owners.

I'm not sure the very best players make great managers in general. It's often hard for them to understand that the players they are coaching aren't able to live up to their standards as a player. Things that seem simple and obvious to them are often not easy or obvious to most players.

As for his son, I'd imagine he'd join our academy. He'd certainly move with his dad to England so it will be either our academy or Cities. I can't imagine he'd sign his lad up at City.

I think he will move to another club after playing for us.
Even if he scores 15-20 goals a season he will be an asset anywhere.
Barring any terrible injury he will easily play till he's 40.

Rohanarora, I'd imagine he'll play for us for 2-3 years before heading over to the MLS, or maybe another European league.

I look at Zlatan and see him putting in top level performances for AC Milan in a top European league at the age of 39 and see no reason, barring injury, that Ronaldo couldn't do the same. He is utterly dedicated to being in peak physical condition and being the best player he can be.

Players like Ronaldo and Zlatan retire when they lose the drive before they lose the physical ability to keep playing.

{Ed077's Note - I would love to see Ronaldo at Sporting CP, even if it is at the age of 38/39.}

I read somewhere that ronny and Rooney's sons will both play together in our academy, no idea if true or just made up statement during the hype of the signing.

I'm liking for odds on him being player manager before end of season.

As per logic let's bring on teddy Sherigham he scored the other goal.
If he didn't score the first one, oles would not have mattered.
Let's give teddy the job, and we can say he used to watch closely on the bench and look like a proper coach.
