Ed014, Arsenal luck a win against the worst team in the league to lift Arsenal off the foot of the table and you start to get excited.

Newcastle have been awful, but last season it was against sides like this where United dropped points. Teams that sat back, defended deep and had 10 men behind the ball. This season the first time we have come up against a side like that and we won 4-1. Probably should have scored a couple more, while if I'm honest I think there is much more to come from this United side. You can see they are still finding their feet together and building those relationships.

Us United fans have seen one of the greatest ever players return to the club, and we played well and got a good result. I hope you enjoyed your 1-0 (lucky) win against Norwich.

Varane has already impressed with his pace and aerial threat.
Almost scored today from the corner with a deft touch.

He is winning almost every header and duel so far and long may that continue.

Come on Ed014, even if Newcastle are poor, you can't be surprised at Utd fans getting excited for a change. The sparkle was back and everyone has a smile like christmas morning.

There will be tougher games to come, but today we looked like a team in the title race against a pretty poor Newcastle team.

Ed014, I've had so many conversations about United's signings this summer. From memory most of the opposition fans who have been saying Varane isn't that great have been City and Liverpool fans. Mostly I think because I'm of the opinion that Varane is at the same level as VvD and Dias.

{Ed014's Note - I’m one of those who isn’t yet sure and am waiting to see him in a game in the Premiership before I get carried away about how good or bad he is.

I appreciate he has a pretty impressive medal haul but the Premiership is a different ball game.

He could be every bit as good as VVD and Dias and if that’s the case then you’ll have a gem.

Me personally I just want to see that for myself.

And they spent so much money this year Ed. Do you think this Arteta gamble will come good in the end? He seemed to be highly thought of ahead of getting the big seat. From the outside it doesn't look like anything will improve anytime soon.

{Ed014's Note - they did DB and I like some of the new guys and think we have more talent than results and performances are showing.

I’m not convinced with Arteta at all and don’t think he will last much longer to be honest.

Don’t think working under Pep was anything like a good enough CV to get the job in the first place and if our set up upstairs wasn’t so useless we’d have attracted a much better manager but most have been put off by the set up.
