Shappy maintains that Solksjaer will remain in post as long as he secures the expected revenues for the club, mainly through Champions League qualification.

I think he is broadly correct with that assessment but there are a few chinks in what would seem to be a fairly strong position for Solksjaer (new contract and all) .

Firstly, disgruntlement among the players which could manifest itself both on and off the pitch could undermine him.

Secondly, the poor quality of the product. Man Utd have a massive fan base but other clubs are available and fans around the world might prefer other teams which are more successful and better to watch. It won't affect the club in the short term but it it is a long term threat to revenues.

Thirdly, (and I think this might be the one that does for him) ; the crowd reaction at OT. I think overall the worm has turned with fans assessment of Solksjaer; people have lost patience. The crowd at OT is unusual because the overall attitude doesn't seem to match the views of the fanbase in general. I remember when Jose was deeply unpopular but his name was still being sung by a large section of the OT crowd.

I think Solksjaer got away with it last year because of empty stadiums but I think once the boo's start ringing out around the stadium his time will be limited. I think it's a not a look that the board can allow to be broadcast around the world for very long.

I think one of the things that protects his position is that ex-players are reluctant to criticise him. With Jose and LVG the ex-players in the media were able to amplify supporter discontent. You had former players saying that it wasn’t the United way and so on.

For Ole, it’s all his old mates, so they’ve been broadly supportive. The style of football under Ole is as defensive and boring as it was under Jose and LVG. But the ex-players in the media have constantly claimed that we are headed in the right direction and playing like a United side.

Without ex-players in the media echoing what the fans are saying, it’s much more difficult to put pressure on Ole’s position.

The ex-players have started to turn on him this season Danny.
Neville and Ferdinand for instance looks to have lost their patience.

If we continue to lose matches he will be fired.
I don't expect us to lose to either villareal or Everton so it's not as imminent as it should be.
I can see us getting really thumped by one of the better teams soon enough that might just be the catalyst for his removal.

Ignore shappy he has no idea what he is taking about.
He has no inside knowledge he is just guessing and assuming.
He writes like its fact but he is only expressing his opinion.

I'm sure you're right Danny but people know what they see and they don't like it. It might take a bit longer without ex players criticism but I believe it's the inevitable destination.

I've binned going to OT 'cos it's a waste of my time even though I get free tickets and I only live 3 miles away. If you're one of the poor saps spending loads of money and travelling large distances surely sooner or later you're going to let the club know what you think about the tripe Ole is serving you week in week out? You don't need Paul Scholes or Gary Neville's blessing.

Getting a bit personal with regard to Shappy, Ken. He has his opinion as you have yours. It’s a “banter” site. Views are always subjective. Even yours!

{Ed014's Note - no worse than Shappy pointing out Ken’s spelling mistake yesterday, Ken hasn’t directly abused Shappy but given an opinion on the content of Shappys post.

Patrick, I've had the pleasure of meeting Ken in person a couple of times for the charity matches. He's a top fella and I don't take any offense from what he says and I'm sure he doesn't take any offense from what I say.

I think when you've met someone face to face you can take the banter slightly further than you might with someone who you've never met.

Although I do appreciate your concern. Ken knows I'm talking as much waffle as he is.

Patrick, that's the most important point. We all want United to do well, to play good football, to challenge for the biggest honours and to win things.

We all might disagree what is best or how to get there, but we all will all be happy if United play well and win.

And certainly no worse then Shappy calling me a Jackass…. then A troll which was completely overlooked by the Mods on these pages and all because I disagreed with his stat based statements.

So Ken making that statement about Shappy is not out of line at all, if we are going by what the Mods on this page read and allowed to be posted by Shappy which is not banter or anything to do with United but a personal attack on me, so that was overlooked which I find baffling, but it’s water of a ducks back to me but just mentioned because can’t be one rule for one and one for another.

{Ed014's Note - mate we don’t catch everything and reading the endless tripe spouted by Shappy is mind numbing so apologies mate.

Jackamus, it was intended as banter and I did post emojis at the end of each sentence to further highlight that it was said tongue in cheek. Unfortunately the emojis didn't go through, I think there is a little issue with them currently on the site.

You say it's water off a ducks back and I'm glad, but still want to say sorry if it did cause any offense. Like I said it was never intended to.

I take everything as banter, whether it's intended to be or not. Because it doesn't benefit me to think any differently. Also everything I say is intended as banter, I don't have any beef with anyone as personally I don't really care enough about what other people say to let it upset me. However I appreciate that not everything I say may come across as the banter it is intended to be.

No problem at all Shappy, it’s a banter site after all, I’m not one of the get offended brigade either there are too many of them in the world already!
