Evening I've not posted in two years but I read all the posts with interest. Like Red Man, Ken and Mumbles, I was perplexed why the club extended Ole's contract.
However, we now find ourselves in a tricky position where there are no standout candidates to take over if Ole was relieved of his duties.
The thing I find unbelievable, is the club hiring phelan (a boring player and worst assistant Fergie had) . Then compounding the felony by appointing Carrick (good player but with zero experience at coaching) .
If Ole is to stay, my personal opinion is the coaches had to change. And I think that is where the club should have made their move. Alas, they seem to think they're doing a good job and are rewarding them with new contracts for achieving mediocrity. And that is the crux of the problem. Until the club moves into the 21st century, hire coaches with modern techniques, high pressing, players with more control, defending as a team not individually, then I'm afraid we're going nowhere.
The problem can be fixed with better coaching, but sadly, the club see it differently.

Welcome back AAA. isn't it the manager who choses his team though. I might be wrong but i Fergie chose his assistants, Moyes brought in Phil Neville and Jose brought Faria. If Ole chose these geniuses then don't think the club/ board have a say in that.

Great to see you back, still living in Croft? Good point re coaches, right now we have an inexperienced Manager surrounded by inexperienced coaches. I agree we have the players, just need better coaching, tactics and motivation.

Ole has been given all the resources he needs but simply doesn't know how to use those.

Imagine Sir Alex was backed this way in his final few years - he would certainly have won more trophies and the team would had been a lot better when he left.

Ole would pick his coaches not the club, so he might be happy with what his got and not want them changed and he probably pushed for there new contracts, and club have to back him.

Ole really needs someone with the tactical nous like Querioz. However, it’s down to ole to recognise and sort this out and I don’t know if he has considered it.

The only staff change I’ve noticed a difference in is the set pieces, bar the villa goal we have been so much better at defending them.

{Ed002's Note - There is zero chance of Querioz being the Manchester United coach.}

Imagine if Sir Alex had insisted on being backed like that in his final years instead of doing the Glazers dirty work for them and trotting out the 'no value in the market' guff while bringing a 38 year old out of retirement .

Morning Tony, Ken and great to see you continuing the banter on this great site along with UA, shappy, mumbles, Dlip and all the other posters. Tony, we've moved to sunny Portugal now, but we've got a very small house in Culcheth for our old age, which is fast approaching.
I fully agree with the views UA and others posted that Ole picks his coaches, but I was hoping with some interference from Fergie (who changed his coaches more than hot cakes, and worked perfectly for him) and senior players like Ronaldo and Bruno to put pressure on the manager to upgrade the coaching staff.
If this is the case and Ole thinks they're doing a great job, then he deserves to be relieved of his duties.
The point I was making is that there aren't any obvious candidates out there to take over, but there are plenty of brilliant coaches who are tactically aware, and if I was Ole, I'll be dropping the sentiment bit and hiring coaches who can change tge brand of football and in turn make it more effective. However, with the announcement of Phelan and possibly Carrick getting new contracts, Ole has just shot himself in the foot.

AaA I don't think ole wants to change he is probably the most obstinate and arrogant coach we have ever had. With nothing to justify his arrogance except a string of failures.

Well done mate, Portugal is lovely. I'm in Culcheth too, we really will have to have a beer and chew the fat at some point.

Really ken ?

You think Ole is more obstinate and arrogant than Van Gaal or Mourinho?

Conte is the stand out available manager and I would happily take the Ajax coach. At least he would play DVB in his right position and give us a defined attacking style.

By some distance bilko ole is more arrogant. But they had reason to be and earned their stripes so to surreal this clown hasn't.

Thanks Red Man and Dodgy B
I agree with most re our plight under Ole its disappointing that an attacking player, who played under an aggressive attacking manager in Fergie, chooses to play such defensive football, devoid of ideas.
Coaches make a big difference as we've seen in Steve Mclaren and Carlos Queiros. And they have a negative impact as we've seen in Phelan and Carrick. But Ole and the club don't seem to see this!
Red Man, as you say still NoMidfield!
Tony, beer is on, coming back at Xmas ??.
