With Erik ten Hag, being mentioned as possible replacement, the big question would be player respect, will our big players respect him, will they listen and work to his plans. Ajax is not a big club in world terms, and Dutch footballers are trained into the philosophy from birth. Will our fans give him time and put up with a lot of Van Gal ball again as the playing style is implemented. Many of our current players just don't have the skill to play that way.

I'm okay with a formation change as long as it is to get the best out of the players. I also think they will have to earn a spot if it is Conte who is not afraid to drop big players.
Not sure who is best for the future. but we know who is not.

Ten Hag is the exciting and progressive choice - but he’s not going to be interested/ available until the summer at best if at all.

So do the club plod with OGS, or randomly hire Conte because he’s available albeit an excellent choice to get this squad playing, or find and interim.

I just think Utd need a manager who can navigate the big ego’s in this team over the next few years.

Like I mentioned earlier if we don’t build a team around Ronaldo it will be hard for any manager. Now we’ve signed Ronaldo the project or planning for the future must be put on hold for the next couple of seasons.

I would imagine Conte would revert to a back 3. I’d like to think he’d build a more solid structure to get the best out of our star players and look to build the team around Ronaldo. I don’t think many would be sad if Martial or Lingard were phased out leaving Ronaldo, Cavani, Rashford and Greenwood competing for the two spots upfront. The obvious worry would be Sancho but I wonder if he could be rotated in the No10 position with Bruno.

Conte could also play 3-4-3 which could present more opportunities to the likes of Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood, Martial etc!

Whatever the ramifications I think we can all agree it would be fascinating to see what a top class coach could get out of this squad. We are always sold a dream of the future but the time is now with this squad!

Please not conte! He is def not the right manager for us. Can’t believe some of you think he’s our saviour. Bad decision after bad decision by our board.
No plan, no thought and clueless. In a few years we will be hiring phelan to bring back our identity. What was the point in Ole coming in if your going to rip up that by getting a coach who is going to take us in the complete opposite direction. By all means get a coach who will respect the traditions of our club but will be back to square one to when when mourinho was sacked when conte leaves in 2 years. Same old same old.

A better coach would get a lot more out of this squad, this we all know . but how much could certain players be improved? -

Any manager would want 1 or 2 combative midfielders and Conte especially playing his preferred back 3 will want 2 new centre halfs.

Would he be given the money? its a huge problem in attracting a top manager - we ve been sucked in to beleiving we have fantastic squad . we dont, we have a very good squad and I think an elite manager would want Lindelof, Bailly, Matic, Fred, Martial, Mata out fairly quickly just for starters.

We need to go for a manager who can get the best out of our players, back 3 and wing backs doesn’t suit our squad I don’t think we have the players for how conte would want to play. This is what I mean about making good decisions, why rip up everything and bring in players for the way conte wants to play when he will be in the job 2 years and then gone.
Ten hag would be a preferred choice. High press quick passing.

Didn't say I agreed Angel, just that he is very quiet and reserved and might struggle with the big personalities.
