So those who wanted Ole to go may now get their wish, which gives me no pleasure what so ever. He helped to give me one of my lifes top 4 nights back in 1999, and I won't apologise for not celebrating when the day comes that he gets sacked.

Do I feel that he is in above his head? Unfortunately yes.

But do I feel that he helped the club massively at a time when things were truly truly awful? 100% yes, and "fans" have very short memories when it comes to how bad things actually were.

Finally do I feel that the next manager that comes in will fare any better? Nope.

The club is a mess from top to bottom, and as a Manchester lad who has grown up and lived and breathed it my whole life it hurts. I sat there at Old Trafford watching the Liverpool and City games and they were painful to watch, but what was even worse were the things that people were saying and shouting, the vast majority aimed at the manager. I wasn't as embarrassed by the performances as much as I was listening to the words coming out of United "supporters" mouths.

Anyone that thinks a change in manager will solve the problems is either daft or deluded. The club is run by business men, not football men, and until they bring in some football men in positions above the manager and coaches, then we will go no where and bounce from management failure to management failure.

The players also need to take a long hard look at themselves. Most are not fit to wear the shirt on the attitude and performance that they have been putting in. They are a disgrace and I wouldn't care if 90% of the squad was allowed to find a new club in January, the problem would be finding anyone who wants them, and would pay what the business men agreed to pay them. I'm 100% sure that the vast majority would have no one interested in them from the performances we have seen, which says a lot.

Anyway, reply to this however you want, I really couldn't care less. Also enjoy what some will see as a victory once it happens, but I will await the exact same people on here in 18 months time unhappy with things as they are then too. And I can guarantee that it will happen as nothing but the manager will change, and that is not enough to turn things around properly.

I am happily both daft and deluded if that is what it takes to be happy to see the clown trashed. If 99 was one of your happy nights, this will be mine when he is thrown out.

Great Post Brendan, typical reply too. Sensible discussion has no place on here any more.

Brendan I was one of the keep ole in brigade, I've got a lot of mates as united fans and they were all ole out and I always stood firm but after todays mess I think it's time he goes, i felt sorry for him in that end of game interview he looked like he was going to cry. but now is the time for him to leave, if he loves this club he should resign and hand over the reigns. i get being badly beaten by the scousers and City, but by Watford.

Good post Brendan. But there in lies the problem with a lot of fans 'He helped to give me one of my lifes top 4 nights back in 1999'.

Unfortunately sentimentality should never ever have come into it.

Adiós Ole, glad you're going. I think you set us back another couple of years.

Brendan. Interesting post and I take no pleasure in the fact that our club is i disarray at present. Do I hate Solskjaer, no way and no one on here hates Solskjaer the man, the guy was and is and will always be a legend.
The Club is run badly from a footballing side, but I recently posted about all the coaches United have in place at present. All of them including Solskjaer have underachieved massively. And who selected the first team coaches, Phelan and Carrick? It was solskjaer who chose them. And they have all been a disaster.
Next manager will have a huge job to turn this club around, and he may not succeed, but we have to try.
Lastly how many of our youth players has Solskjaer promoted and tried out? You know the answer to that question. And how may players has Solskjaer actually improved? I think you know the answer to that question too.
This is a hard profession, there's no room for sentimentality. We have to move on. The Club is bigger and more important than any player or manager.

What is so sensible about your post then AJH? isn't it the typical poking from you?

I think most missed the actual meaning of my post, maybe it was them getting over excited at the impending departure.

It wasn't that I feel he should stay on as manager, as I confirmed when I said I feel he is in over his head, it was that I won't celebrate his departure like a lot unfortunately will and that changing managers will do absolutely F all without major changes throughout the club, but that won't be happening so enjoy what will be a short lived excitement.

Just wait until we appoint Rodgers! I wonder what vitriol we can look forward to when the failed Liverpool manager becomes the next failed Utd manager. If we can’t be civil towards a Utd legend then Rodgers has absolutely no chance.

I hope it doesn’t happen but only at Utd can we call our manager utterly useless and incompetent then appoint someone who’s finished below him for two seasons in a row and despite a disastrous start Ole is still above him now and they’ve conceded just as many goals.

{Ed0666's Note - extremely pertinent points you make

About time he's gone. Just shows the amateur nature of the club by not doing it a week soiner and giving the new guy some time with the players.

Ole the player is a different bloke to the manager. You need to be ruthless in this game. Ole has been holding us back for too long. Tuchel shows what a half decent coach can do after taking over from another amateur. He should never have got the job but again, the idiots up stairs acted too quickly after a catchy song. i'm not sorry to see him go i'm just sorry it had to end like this.

One thing is for certain, he will go down as our worst ever manager. Upwards and onwards from here, hopefully.

Graham Souness is remember very fondly by Liverpool fans and it won't be because of his stint at manager or his personality.

Ole will remain a club legend for his playing days. Sadly as a manager he wasn't up to the task despite his best efforts.

Let him go, try and be respectful as you only really show yourself up when you're not, and move on.

Brendan, like you I doubt we'll see any real success until changes above the manager happen. Hopefully we are wrong, sadly I expect we'll be proven right.

Shappy, this squad, with the right manager, will compete regardless of the board or people above.

You change your opinion every few weeks now so I'm sure in a year or two should we win a trophy you'll be telling us all how you knew that getting a top manager would mean competing and winning trophies. You'll have written so many posts come that time, most people will forget ?.

Angel, and therein lies the problem. "With the right manager" the incompetence above them won't matter. So you say. But with the level of incompetence how can we be sure that the next manager will be the "right" manager?

17.) 20 Nov 2021
20 Nov 2021 20:48:31
Shappy I agree and disagree I think we won't sustain sucess until the root from the top is removed but at the same time if we actually manager to get a top manager in which we haven't done since fergy then I think we will be but ultimately we need a top manager not one that was good 10-15 years ago like van gaal and mourinho.

It's a sad day for solskjaer the club and the fans.
Bit if it happens then we move on and try to improve.
