So you hired an interim manager, made him permanent. Sacked him, hired an interim manager, looking to replace him with an interim manager so you can replace him with a permanent manager but only if the interim manager doesn't do a good enough job to warrant the permanent one? That about cover it?

The situation you find yourselves in is nothing short of farcical. You tell the world through the brand etc that your the biggest in the world but can't convince anyone to up stick mid season? Surely it's meant to be the biggest job in the world and you should throw money at the individuals team to get them released. Writing a season off in November is daft, and do you automatically write next year because it's a transition?

And the supposed no 1 target is a man who lost a European final, took the team he had as far as he could l. Sound familiar? Oh and finished third in a two horse race. Even ole finished second! I just don't get the clamour for him, didn't he come second last season with a PSG side full or world beaters?

The whole clubs structure is woeful and until you fix that you will just be in the top four trophy or next year is our year mould that you all mocked for so long because you didn't realise how good you had it.

From an outsiders perspective, your squad is actually quite good and no where near as bad as its being painted. It should be challenging but whilst the structure remains you will find yourselves in a repetitive cycle.

It's hard to dictate tone in written form and I don't intend to mock it's purely to discuss what a shocking state you appear to be in. I speak from a place where all I knew was united dominance so I don't know united pre Ferguson so the drop to me is drastic.

We’ve sacked our manager and are looking to appoint a good replacement, that might not be until the end of the season because they have a job so for now we have an interim. As simple as that really.

I’d be excited to see what a proper manager could do with our squad and our youngsters.

WY,

Rumours are we want the PSG manager, should we bully them with money and make sure they let him leave? We aren’t talking about a league 1 club.

You’re a real expert WY given you watched 30 years of under achieving at Liverpool. Nice of you to come and share your wisdom but we’re all pretty clear about the state of our club.

From the OP i get the impression that he is insinuating that we are not a well run club.

Well ill be damned, knock me over with a feather, i don't think that point has ever been raised on this forum before lol.

Wyred.
Yes it's a mess but you have only won 1 epl trophy same as Leicester and Blackburn. Yes United are a bit of a mess for sure but your saviour klopp has only won 2 trophies so don't get too excited.

Liverpool fans coming on here looking for a rise. Must be concerned that we're heading in the right direction now that Oles gone.

Could the sleeping giant be waking?

Will the board make a good decision?

All these questions and more will be answered before the scousers next win the league.

{Ed014's Note - at least none of you have taken the bait ?

One PL title in 30 years and he comes on here telling us what's wrong with our club. Funny.

Lads what’s the point in biting to that one. He took Spurs to a European final- that’s enough in my book ?.

Good few caught there WyRed. AJH just a reminder it took United 42 years between titles seen as you like talking about past.

Ed014 only a couple of nibbles there ?

But my point was that you are meant to be one of the biggest clubs in the world and therefore shouldn't be planning to wait. That should be a last resort if Poch says he wants to see out his work. However you should throw everything at it as there is no time like the present. Get the man in at whatever cost, as if he is the ideal replacement then what's an extra couple of million to ensure the longevity of success. You spent 75m on one player who barely gets a game!

What I will say is this, I don't think the giant is awaking any time soon until you fix the problems at top level. You had a few recent false dawns, Ronaldo, PSG result. Rio saying united are back and Oles at the wheel.

Once you fix the problems or amateurs as ed says then I may agree that you'll be on an upward trajectory but all I will say is I come from a place where I have experienced a team trying to get back to the good old days and it takes longer then you expect. So when the good times return, and they will eventually just make sure you enjoy them as it'll never be dominance like under SAF again.

I think the scrutiny the whole media, pindits, the fact the op/ Liverpool supporter talks about it on our page putting in the effort and going into a bit of detail (it says nothing we don't already know apart from new signings need to settle which takes time, still more scrutiny) and then plenty of opinions on the Liverpool page. Add to the fact that there seems to be extra scrutiny on any replays regarding united players on the tv more than any other club in the premier league, more debate than any other club by far between pundits etc. Still shows we are right up there still in share of voice with Barcelona and Real Madrid for importance in club football. The club just needs restructuring internally which will happen at some point. Everybody else, enjoy it whilst you still can because we will be back, we demand it of the club.

Atcom, maths isn’t your strongest point is it. It was 26 years, which is still less than 30 but we’ll done, you’ve 1 title in the last 30 years' way to go.

We are cr*p and in a very bad place. Still finishing above Liverpool in the league by 5 points? Again, enjoy it whilst you can, from the tone of your post your presuming Liverpool will win the premiership and CL this season? We will see.

How do you get that from my post. I barely mention Liverpool. But on that topic I don't expect us to win anything but I expect we will compete and everything else is a plus.
Tbh I'm at a place in my life where football is a bonus. I love watching it and want to see Liverpool do well but I also take an interest in other football stories and united being a big one at the minute.

When I was younger it would effect my mood on weekends and I thought it was the be all and end all. But I have no control over the result so why should I let it impact my mood and the impact on home life?

So will I enjoy it whilst I watch a team that's nothing short of a joy to watch? Absolutely as I know full well it can change quickly and I'm back watching football similar to life under Hodgson. But that's the life of a football fan you take the rough with the smooth and when you get those highs you make sure you enjoy them.

Genuinely I feel for you as fans, it's horrid when it doesn't go your way, but the main point of my post was to say that you shouldn't be aiming to go for an interim manager. It's a defeatist attitude in my opinion and opens more problems then solutions.

2 real ones if you win a charity sold you'll be claiming that next.
This exchanging exhibition invite tournaments don't count as major trophies imo.
You enter 4 a year generally and you have won 2 of those in his six / 7 years. Competed right at the top table don't get me wrong Liverpool are a force right now but not a winning one consistently over his tenure.

AJH I got it wrong it was actually 41 years between titles for United 1911 to 1942. Seen as you like talking about the past.

{Ed007's Note - Keep smashing that maths mate ?

More or less, it's a bit of a shambles and there is no point trying to argue that it's not.

Obviously it makes more sense to have an interim manager rather than hire the wrong guy now in a kneejerk reaction.

The club's poor planning means they had no plan for this scenario. They didn't think it possible that Ole could fail and might need to be relieved of his duties mid-season.

The exit interview while heart warming shows a club that is too focused on how we are perceived. They didn't want to look bad throwing a club legend out on his ear, so they did a respectful exit video so his exit could be commiserated. We could all gather round and mourn the sad loss of one of our own rather than ask harsh stark questions about how and why he failed.

The narrative needs to be "poor Ole, we still love you" rather than which idiot allowed this to happen. The club were happy for the finger to be pointed at the previous managers, hang all the blame around their shoulders and bump them off down the road. But they couldn't do that with a club legend. So we get the exit interview, as a nice send off/ distraction so we don't grab the pitchforks and torches and demand to know whose fault it is.

Is Pochettino the right manager? Who knows, he certainly isn't a bad choice. I think he gets a little unfair stick for not winning things when until halfway through last season he had only managed perpetual losers Espanol, Southampton and Spurs. Who might have 2 trophies between them in the last 50 years.

He joined PSG last year when they were 3rd or 4th halfway through the season after they had a terrible start under Tuchel. Effectively he had half a season to turn things around with one armed tied behind his back. This season is a better reflection of what he is capable of, 12 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss in 14 Ligue 1 games scoring 32 goals on there way to an 11 point lead before the halfway point of the season.
While 2 wins and 2 draws in a tough UCL group that includes Man City, RB Leipzig and Club Brugge means that have all but qualified for the knockout stages with 2 games to go in arguably one of the toughest groups.
