A quote from our interim manager from a few months ago
'I also think that they could do with a left-back, I know they have Luke Shaw but I’m not so sure if he’s on the same kind of level that you need to be for a club like Manchester United. ’.

I think the quote was in 2020 Ken, he definitely improved since then especially at the Euro’s but has dropped a level this season, so have all the players though so wouldn’t write him off just yet.

Its up to Shaw to prove him wrong then. Hopefully he can rise to the challenge, but if he can't then its time to move him on, as with all the players at United, prove you should be here.

I have to agree on the whole. He can be great at times, but then awful, however he certainly isn't the worst player at United either. There are players I would get rid of first, Pogba, Martial, Maguire and Lindelof to name just a few.

That was in 2020 Ken.
I think Shaw has been diabolical all this season, so he needs a kick up the bum. I think you'll see Telles playing if Shaw doesn't improve.

And in 2019 talking about no title since SAF retired .

"if you're not bringing in the right players then at least don't bring in the wrong players if you do that in 2 or 3 consecutive windows you come in trouble -you need at least 50% success rate on the players you bring to the club, and then you need the best possible coaches to get the best out of them " so, interesting times ahead.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't say to get rid of Shaw I just think he has dropped back since his displays for England in particular this summer.
I think he looks jaded and along with maguire.
I didn't realise it was 18 months ago but whilst he is physically very strong his stamina levels to get up and down for 90 mins won't suit a lot of managers. It suited ole it worked for Southgate but probably not klopp or pep for example.
He had good form for 18 months in a less challenging role and environment. He has become a snr player in the squad he needs to improve his stamina levels.
He has good tekkers but either can't doesn't see or was not allowed make a lot more darting support runs / overlaps etc. It's a huge part of modern game.
I think if he had been a few inches taller he would have been a very good cb.

{Ed014's Note - for me he had a brief period of looking ok but is basically a half decent winger/wing back.

Not really good enough like a fair few of your squad.

Shaw is clearly a confidence player. His consistency is purely down to confidence. He had played well under Poch, Southgate and Ole. All man managers, good guys who by all accounts, players like to play fort hem because they are nice guys. Mourinho on the other hand took the tough love approach because he wanted ore from Shaw. Interesting how the next few months pan out for him.
