True, but I also agree with Brian Kerr when he asks how is it someone like Fletcher can walk into such a demanding job without experience, -imagine if Rangnick wasnt joining.

United is notorious for the "jobs for the old boys" culture as we know but it is becoming more and more prevalent in football - someone has played X amount of games therefore he should manage a team in the top 2 tiers or go into a Technical director or DOF position.

It's much harder to change and develop a player into a very specific style of play the older they get. The old adage you can't teach an old dog new tricks springs to mind.

For older players to adapt they ideally need to come from a club that plays in a similar way with a similar philosophy.

Obviously not an absolute rule, but more of a general one.

Personally I think that sort of idea works well with our club. We have a history of creating great players rather than signing them.

I can't remember too many signings we made who were over the age of 24 who were huge successes. Yet names like Rooney, Ronaldo, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Keane etc were all either 24 or younger when they signed for us.

I'd be fairly happy if the majority of our signings were 24 or younger.

One of Oles faults - and he had many was talking the talk as regards to giving kids a chance but not really doing it.

Elanga, Hughil. Hannibal, Diallo really have to grab this opportunity to be coached to a higher level and intensity than they were used to and hopefully they will get a chance.
