Who will be the winners and losers do you think from within the squad?
It's hard to say too early but I think we will see some changes.

Maguire will be a loser. He can't play football for a start.

Based on my minimal knowledge, but it seems if you are willing to work hard, you'll be a winner for him and if you don't you'll be on the losers lists.

Winners - CR7, Sancho, DVB, Fred, Varane, Rashford, Bruno, McTominay, Lingard (if he stays)

Losers - Greenwood, Pogba, Martial, Maguire

Make or break - AWB, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw.

Rangnick hates side ways and back passes. So McT may be out unless he improves on the ball.

VDB, Sancho and Bruno will probably benefit a lot. They are technical and can press the opposition.

Once his method kicks in, we will see a lot of goals at Old Trafford.
Excited after a very long time.
A step in the right direction.

Donny surely has to at least get more opportunities, style of play will suit Sancho so it should be good for him.

Pogba and Martial, barring some dramatic turn around in attitude and performance are going to be losers.

Could be a chance for one of the kids like Mejbri or Amad .

Whats going to be interesting is how he adjusts to accomodate Ronaldo.

Winners I think will be Donny, Lingard and Fred (Even though he plays regular) as they can press and I think they will suit what Rangnick wants to do.

Sancho as well will benefit massively.

Losers I think would be Pogba, Maguire as he can't play a high line and AWB.

Difficult to tell, I see a lot of people jumping on the idea that it's the hardest working players that will benefit most. While there appears to be some logic to that I think there is much more to it than that.

Rangnick's sides press as a team, its not about who runs the most. But about communication, team work and intelligence.

Fred for example many see as a possible beneficiary because he runs a lot. However, if he can't do that in coordination with his team mates as a unit then he won't get on in Rangnick's system. There are no headless chickens running around like fools.

The biggest trait a coach like Rangnick values is intelligence. A willingness to learn, adapt and grow.

It will be interesting to see which players adapt well and who struggles.

Truth is the next 6 months will be make or break for some of our players. What they show in training and on the pitch will either cement them as a player to keep or highlight them as not good enough for where we want to be.

Agree with jonaldinho, but I think Greenwood will benefit greatly, providing he listens to what the manager is telling him.

Not sure on losers at the moment but winners definitely be DVB, Fred and Sancho.

If Lingard signs a new contract he will get game time.

Pogba just isn’t interested. He will run his contract down, try stay injury free and move on.

Let’s see if Ralf can get a tune out of Phil ?.

Not sure why anyone thinks Greenwood will be a loser, him getting the ball with more time to do something and being coached properly with a plan will be brilliant for his development. He’s still a young kid and some guidance now and he could reach the potential we hoped.

Agreed. Rashford and Greenwood will improve massively with proper technical coaching and intelligence. Let’s hope AWB can kick now too as he has suffered from lack of coaching too.

Greenwood would excel playing high pressure, high tempo football. His movement is generally good, his positioning and decision making needs work, but he his Young.

ED002,

Will Utd look to move on players this January?

You have mentioned the wage bill being high, players would need to be moved on etc.

I understand January isn't a particular great time for clubs as they generally prefer then end of season to do their transfer dealings.

{Ed002's Note - I it difficult to discuss timings.}

Ken-op tbh I have concern for cr7 and rashford if the philosophy of RR is to be adopted. Both are not great pressers of the ball/ opposition in fact cr7 does very little pressing whilst rasford a couple of bursts but nothing spectacular. Given they are 2 of our most likely goalscorers I hope they can incorporate rr philosophy. In respect to other players I reckon maguire, awb and shaw will be under pressure to up their game and as seems to be a popular thought think lingard could benefit massively if he is still at the club. Maybe not January but over the next 3 windows, mainly summer, i can see us getting rid/ of at least 10 squad members which is not before time: matic, mata, pogba, bailly, jones, cavani, lingard, henderson, periera, martial.

Funky, I think the whole team has to know when and how to press. Its alien to them, as non of the last 4 managers have demanded it.
I think Rangnick appointment is superb, just what the club, players and fans needed. However, I'm extremely worried about the players fitness and fitness coaches at our club. We see a lot of silly injuries and as soon as we play a high tempo game, they seen to pick up injuries.
The Club will have to change its structure from top to bottom and the fitness coaches in particular, are very important to this system.

AAA totally agree - its a step in the right direction i think to appoint RR. The implimentation of an actual path will be great to see but the real work is the role he may take after and embedding his philosophy behind the scenes to the non playing staff.
