I know this might sound patently ridiculous but i wouldn't mind the club and Ronaldo agreeing to him having a 3 month winter break on his yacht or private island until the champions league knockouts start.

Does Ronaldo really want to slum it in a top 4 battle? and are we going to learn anything new about ronaldo from the odd brace against the likes of Burnley or Norwich?

We have ballsed up this league campaign and the only salvageable part of the season is developing a team that is able to challenge for the league in upcoming seasons and i would love to see a front 3 of rashford/ sancho/ greenwood which i assume was the intention before city let it be know they were interested in Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is not the problem. Without him we’d be out of Europe and we’d be ever further down the league.

Why is Ronaldo all of a sudden a massive problem to us?
The media are putting the same spin on this Ronaldo or Rangnick scenario. I just don’t get it. Every team, regardless of style need a striker to put the ball in the net, we currently have one of the all time greatest, who is still fit and getting goals if anything Rangnick should be rubbing his hands together to be coming in and managing him. I’m not saying Ronaldo is bigger than the club or beyond being dropped if he is not performing but he certainly isn’t going to be a problem to Rangnick when he eventually takes over this squad.

Caolan, that's a very simplistic way of looking at things.

While his goals have been good, his lack of work for the team has seen us hit our poorest form in 3 years.

His introduction has imbalanced the side.

Personally of all the goals he has scored maybe only one or two of them are goals Cavani maybe wouldn't have scored had he played instead.

However, had the club followed through with signing a CDM instead then defensive we probably wouldn't have conceded half as many goals as we have.

That said he's here now and we ideally need to find a solution that includes him rather than excludes him. Although I now suspect the 3rd year option on his deal is much less likely to be activated now we have some real footballing intelligence helping with the decision processes at the club.

Pressing isn’t always necessarily just about running. It’s also about intelligence, positioning, cutting off passing lanes and forcing the opposition into areas of the pitch where we can win the ball back successfully. Ronaldo is experienced, he understands the game, others can do his running if he orchestrates the press by positioning himself intelligently.

If the idea is to win the ball back high up the pitch and play it forward quickly who better to finish the chances than Ronaldo. It should be music to his ears.

From what I’ve seen this season our main problems have been a lack of defensive organisation and players making terrible individual mistakes. Sort that out and we’ll improve immediately.

I don’t think Ronaldo will be a problem for Rangnick. In fact I think he’ll flourish in a system which allows us to win the ball higher up the pitch and move it forward quicker. He get more support and more chances.

Without Ronaldo we would be in relegation battle and in Europa.
He has had few service and still converts half chances.

Our team as a whole don't press, so what's the point?
Does Martial press? Does Greenwood press?
Only one that does press is Cavani but it is of no use since rest of the team don't or aren't coached to do so.

Shappy - His lack of work for the team? He’s hardly been the only one! To suggest Ronaldo is somehow responsible is ridiculous. Ole has always been a boom and bust manager. He’s nearly been sacked on at least three occasions and this was probably his hardest run of fixtures. It’s not like this hasn’t been coming.

I’d be more concerned about Rashford and Greenwood’s lack of work rate and pressing. Two young academy lads who haven’t won anything yet but with everything to prove. They can have no excuses.

I’m inclined to put it down to a lack of coaching and possibly even tactics. Everyone gets a fresh start but they’ll be expected to work much harder for the team and be more positionally disciplined otherwise they might find themselves both casualties of this new regime.

Yes his goals have saved us in Europe, hence why i said he should make sure he is primed and ready for the knockouts.

Shappy the team and ole crumbled under the weight of expectation.

It's as if some people think we'd have been incredible this season if we hadn't signed Ronaldo.

Saying he is the problem or he doesn't press etc. Good managers will understand that when you sign a player of that calibre, you surely attempt to fit them in? You tweak your plans or you adjust? It's nonsense that he is a problem.

Our defence costing us goals plenty of times this season has nothing to do to with lack of pressing etc, it's just garbage play from massively out of form players and some who aren't good enough.

Ronaldo is still world class and he certainly is NOT the problem. The problem is that we had a clueless manager who played slow, outdated football with no intention of pressing high up the pitch.
The critical point is that Solskjaer's tactics meant allowing the opposition to get to ourback 4 without any challenge. And that's the irony of it all, solskjaer spent all his time having two defensive midfielders protecting our back 4. The system failed miserably.
Rangnick will attempt to win the ball much higher up the pitch and that will benefit our strikers, but it will benefit our defenders even more, as the defensive line will start with our attackers.

Imbalanced the team Shappy?
That nicely balanced team from the 20/ 21 season, who we were screaming out for a RW and striker.
We had an injured Rashford, underperforming Martial, Greenwood who’s still learning his trade and Cavani, who is quality when fit and available. Adding Ronaldo and Sancho has balanced up the attack.
