Things learned.
1.Wan bissaka can't cross, won't cross. Almost like valencia tracks bk every single time.
Stealing a living.
2. Jesse is awful. Gone hopefully.
3.great to see kids on pitch, manager with some balls.

Amad bailly and Mason were pick of the bunch.
Nats and vdb toiled away without catching the eye.
Shaw Essex himself back in.
Mengi did well.
Good experience for the rest and they will have learnt plenty. Some of them don't play Against men often so they did well.
Good rest for the 1st team.
I would expect him to go with the same team as last week against Norwich.
Really enjoyed tonight.
The game was not high quality littered with mistakes but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This will why awb won't make it he offers nothing going foward, if dalot can continue his form he has got that rb spot

He can cross a ball just needs to improve at defending and he will be a good player.

Jesse was really poor tonight - really poor. His time to go was last summer and expect he’ll leave in Jan. Donny at fault for the goal and hardly covered himself in glory - reminds me of Forman - cult okayed who is never going to be good enough. Wan Bissaka looks like a fish out of water - he desperately needs coaching but not sure he’ll get time to do so. This new manager won’t stand for this. Bailly threw
Himself around as usual - needs to be sold.

We learned nothing new from the squad players we already knew should be moved on. Great to see the young players get a chance to play though.

Eric,

I thought Bailly was man of the match, why would you sell him?

Forlan not Forman obvs.

GDS2, I agree. I thought Bailley was quality.

I also thought AWB was awful. I hoped he would step up, as I think he could be a quality defender if he knew what to do post tackckle?

Bailey had proved he’s not good enough enough times. One decent game against an average side isn’t enough. Too many players there on good money need moving on. Ralf will have seen this on day one.

Awb and dvb were both rubbish. People have been calling for Dvb to play more, and to be honest, I haven't seen anything he's done at all that makes him a starter. Another £40m wasted.
Winjaldum is free to go on loan, and if I was Rangnick, I'll snap him up.
Awb looks like he's tredding mud when he runs. He's also got the annoying habit of passing the ball back 99% of the time. If I was rebuilding, I will offer Brighton whatever they want for Lampety. He's the modern full back we need.
Shaw seems to think that playing one good season is sufficient, and again, I'll replace him in a flash. Never liked him as he never looks fit.
Another observation, apart from Mengi, non of our kids showed anything to make them stand out. They are young, but you always can tell if they have what it takes, Rashford and Greenwood are good examples. It showed that even our u23 and youth sides are not coached to press, so Rangnick has to impose these systems on the youth players too. They all strut around as if they've won 5 league championships.
Hopefully Rangnick can change the culture of the club from the top all the way down to our youth teams.
It was a strange match devoid of passion. But I honestly thought the youth and fringe players will bust their guts to play a high intensity game to put them in the manager's thinking. On this showing, only bailly, Greenwood and Mengi performed.

im not sure on bailly but with Varanes injury record, might be a good idea to keep him around even with his own suspect injury record.

Hopefully they can time their injury cycles so one of them is available at all times lol.

Least that way we don't have to play centre backs who are either lighweight (Lindelof) or move like a boeing 747 (Maguire) together.

Eric,

Just interesting you were basing your opinion on last night and said Bailly needs to be sold, when I thought he was our best player and one of the only players that came out with much credit.

I’ve made my thoughts clear on Donny a few times, I don’t think he will ever be good enough, people are raving about him and saying he should be playing but every time he does play he proves why he shouldn’t be. How many games does he need in this run of games, has he ever won a match he’s played for us? Do we need to lose a few while he plays just to get him up to speed? I’d love to be proved wrong but every time I watch him I’m proved right about him, I don’t really know what he is good at.

The whole clapping and cheering everything he does, even 5 yard passes, by the crowd is so condescending as well and is maybe even adding more pressure to an average player who seems lost.

Obviously it is early day under Ralf but as it stands I don’t see how Donny gets in the first team any time soon and we may need to cut our losses. As I say, I hope to be proved wrong and obviously many people are seeing something in him that I’m not, looks like a Dutch Tom Cleverley at best to me.

Careful AAA, you can’t call Lamptey a fullback. I got torn a new one for saying words to that effect last week. I think we have 2 decent fullbacks on both sides. Could do with strengthening both sides, Shaw had a bit of form last season but seems to have gone off the boil.

Agree on Donny GDS. he’s never really been given 5-10 consecutive games to find his feet though is all I’d say about him but I don’t think he ever will.

My mind on Bailly was made up several seasons ago.

I think it’s fair to say now we’ve finally got a manager with tactics, whoever starts will be because they fit his style and not because they’re his favourites personally.

100% agree Eric to be honest, you're right about Bailly, just thought he did well last night.

Also agree Donny hasn't been given 5-10 games to find his feet but surely just by luck he would have been good in a few of the games he has played. Not sure why he is judged on a different standard to anyone else. When he plays he isn't good enough and never deserves to be picked in the next game yet some fans seem obsessed with him, I'd love people to explain why and what he has to offer as I am yet to see it but I admit I don't watch a great deal of Dutch football so not sure how amazing he was at Ajax.

09 Dec 2021 14:53:10
Donny is a good player, I'm just not sure he's a good fit for our club and how we are looking to play.

He would be great as either a No.8 or a No.10 in a side that looks to play possession football.

His best attribute is finding pockets of space so he is free to pass to and progress the ball.

16.) 09 Dec 2021
09 Dec 2021 15:19:31
I have heard that about him Shappy but last night he kept demanding the ball from the defence, passing it back to the same player, demanding it again then passing it back to the full back. I know that is a player lacking in confidence but surely the change in manager should have ignited him and given him a chance to impress. What he was doing last night was literally the opposite of the style of play Ralf wants to play, and Ole's system didn't suit him either, would he only he good at Ajax next to Frenkie De Jong?

17.) 09 Dec 2021
09 Dec 2021 15:29:56
I think Donny would do really well at Barcelona.

Would be more than happy for some sort of a swap deal between Donny and Frenkie De Jong.

18.) 09 Dec 2021
09 Dec 2021 20:49:02
I think anyone at the club would rip Xavi’s hand off if that deal were possible Shappy. Who knows, with their current plight he might be available. Even something with Pogba in Jan? Of course he can sit it out and go anywhere else come summer.

I agree GDS2, he's not good enough. The amount of times he went backwards when he could of been brave and turned and ventured forward was unreal. He's a mediocre player, nothing special.
