In regards to F1, nearly every race the pack Is allowed to un lap themselves.

So they let half unlap themselves them continued with race which was suspicious but not against the rules.

Also Hamilton had 2 chances to change his own tyres and never did.

I don't get the outrage that the cars was allowed past when it happens every race.

Anyways the Netflix show will be a very good watch after a crazy season.

How could Hamilton change his tyres if he did, verstappen takes the lead and if the rules are followed the race ends under a safety car with no overtaking, Hamilton would have looked insane.

The point is BigV that they let only the cars between verstappen and hamilton past, then left the cars behind Verstappen where they were with instructions not to over take.

They basically arranged a last lap shoot out between the 2, knowing max was on new tires and going to win.

Yes it was exciting.
Yes it was better not to finish the season ending race under a safety car after all the build up.
But if that was the goal, they should have red flagged and given all drivers the chance to change tires.
Or just follow the rules and let ALL cars down the grid unlap. If they then got a lap in, fair enough. But they knew they couldn't do that and manipulated the result. It was just too much and a terrible end to a great season.

I thought Lewis handled it all very very well. Like a champion. And I feel bad for Max to have won under such a cloud.

But it will all be forgotten, like other dirty tricks to win the championship in the past. The record only remembers the win in the end.

Don't forget Big V that before the crash Hamilton had a 12 second lead over Max which he would never had chased down if the crash never happened.

I don't understand why people keep asking this question.

If you do watch F1 or any racing for that matter, you should know that a 5 second lead unless something catastrophic happens is more than enough to win a race.

Here you have a 12 second lead with about 5 laps to go why on earth will you pit, change tyres and relinquish your lead when your dashboard tells you the compound can go 8 more laps?

Thats not entirely accurate Yaz. Hamilton has himself chased down 20 sec to win races this season. He started 10th and won if i remember correctly.

12 seconds over 5 laps would need Verstappen to be gaining nearly 3 seconds a lap in order to catch him in time AND over take.

That's an insane amount of time to make up even with fresher better tyres.

Hamilton's car would need to have some sort of mechanical fault in order for Verstappen to make up that amount of time over 5 laps.

Simply put without the safety car forcing close that 12 second gap Hamilton would have coasted to victory regardless of what tyres he was on.

While the FIA and race director (or in this case dictator) bent/ broke their own rules to engineer a scenario where Verstappen could and would win.

It was match fixing and if investigated by an independent body they would find that the irregularities happened to create the situation that played out.

That's why I am baffled Merc withdrew their appeal.

Maybe a behind-the-scene agreement was stuck.

But I'm disappointed at Merc for this action which shows they don't care about the integrity of the game.

Furthermore, FIA/ F1 could have conceded that it wasn't intentional, cheating or race-fixing but a human error then proceed to sack Masi and award two drivers medals to LH and MV.

Would have been the ideal scenario.
