Huge transfer expenditure, huge wage bill and yet we are fielding a team at Villa with Dalot, Lindelof, Telles, Fred, Matic, Elanga.

Baffling. Hoping to be proven wrong but something has gone drastically t*ts up when man for man, you'd potentially take more Villa players than United in a combined XI.

We overpay for average players it’s as simple as that.

Finally Maguire is dropped.

I agree with most of the line-up . Linelof over Maguire, Dalot over AWB, Elanga on the left after Rashford's shocker last week. A shame McT is out. I think Villa will get one over us today.

I’m almost hoping the selection is an RR cry to the board to be able to make 3 or 4 signings in the next fortnight. Otherwise, we are finishing somewhere between 6th-10th with selections like that.

I don’t see why RR would he backed in the market unless we have identified and secured our next manager and he’s happy with the signings?

A fair point -but we are in danger of finishing 6th at best -we know teams walk through our midfield, surely Zakaria at 7-8 mill isn't a gamble - difference in PL revenue is more than that if we finish 7th and not 6th.

Throw in a Kessie or a Kamara supposedly under 15 mill if papers are to be beleived regarding values and for under 25 mill it gives us a fighting chance -resale value would be more than outlay in 18 months anyway.
