I'm not saying we shouldn't be open to replacing them generally, but can we really afford to get rid of players like Fred or Shaw this summer and have to replace them, on top of the other players we already need?

Martial although my most hated player, he will have a value so be silly to pack him off for nothing.
Fred will also have a decent value, maybe not the 50-60 mil we gave but he will be approx 30mil
McGuire won’t be sold…regrettable but true
Amad and Pellestri should have been given opportunity
AWB and Shaw need selling, but between the two should get another 40m
So there is value there, you can’t just say good riddance.

I do not understand the ridiculing of Fred. Watch closely, and you realise that he's very good when played further up the pitch. He's been one of our better players in recent games. He's a starter in the Brazil team, but he's often played as a defensive midfielder, which he's not.
Add pogba lingard mata to your list Ken.

No way we are having anyone taking martial on, I have a feeling he will be a backup on the bench for the next season.
Either that or we will pay most of his wages so that he can play someplace.

On the contrary, I don't mind his happy face sitting on the bench boosting the team morale :D.

Ken, I think I'd be quicker and easier to name the players we should keep long term.

The reality though is that we can't possibly get rid of all the players who aren't good enough this summer. Otherwise we'll be having to buy 10-15 players this summer which is insane.

It will be a process (hopefully ?) over the next few transfer windows where we move some on, buy some in and bring some up though the academy. This summer I'd rather we get rid of all the players with a bad attitude/ poor mentality and keep some of those not good enough but who have the right attitude/ mentality. One rotten apple can infect the whole bushel.

We have those that want to leave: Henderson, Bailly, Pogba, Lingard and Martial.

Those whose contract is up this summer: Cavani, Mata and Grant (as well as Pogba and Lingard who are both determined to leave) .

Apparently Andreas Pereira's move to Brazil has been agreed and finalised, just waiting to the window to open for it to go through.

So that's 9 departures right off the bat.

Others who's United career could draw to a close this summer: Jones, Matic, Tuanzebe, Williams, Greenwood, Chong and reportedly Ronaldo if we don't make top four.


While there have been rumours of both Donny and Rashford maybe being discontented and might look to leave.

Which gives us a total of 18 players who could or might want to leave this summer.

Obviously not all of them will leave this summer, but at least half of them will almost certainly leave, maybe more.

Players like Maguire, AWB, Dalot, Telles, Shaw and Fred who many people would be happy to see leave are likely to be able to leave this summer due to the huge number of other players who could depart. It's unlikely they would leave in 2023 either given than there will probably be 6-8 players from the 18 listed who could leave this summer who will likely stay another year and leave in 2023.

We could literally see 10 players leave both this summer and next summer, and in truth none would be missed.

I think United fans will need to temper expectations this summer.
We will get a new manager, but it probably won't be the one you want.
We will move on some players, but it won't be all the ones you want, and we will buy players, again probably not the ones you want.

We aren't in the mess we are in because of one or two bad decisions made last year. We are where we are due to 10 years of bad decisions, each new one compounding on the last.

There is no magic wand, or quick fix. This mess will take years to fix. You can't repair 10 years of bad decisions and massive mistakes with one summer transfer window.

I’m almost pinching myself saying this, but Fred has been one of if not the best Utd players for a couple of games. Is it inconceivable to imagine him staying? Everyone seems to think someone is going to walk in and sell ten players and buy the same. I can see a new manager coming in and being more than happy to have him as an option.

Fred stays 100 %, every manager we’ve had likes him and plays him! I’ll cut him some slack he’s got a place in squad! I totally agree with Ken, get rid of every full back we have as they are garbage! Two new full backs is a must!

Yes but it doesn't work that way. You have countless players being paid a fortune with no incentive to leave. It's going to be a slow process. let those whose contracts end this summer go, try to get a few quid (and it will be a few quid) for some of the others and bring in players who will play for the shirt.
Just look at Burnley, no superstars but no one doubts their effort.
