It seems despite personnel changes we remain totally crap at negotiating deals and seemingly are completely unable to do more than one thing at once. De Jong, Nunez, Torres and Timber all noted as our top targets. Surely for each of these we have a negotiating stance and a BATNA (Best Alternative To Negotiated Agreement) agreed, i. e. our walk away point. As ever, we let things drag on and drag on and low and behold other clubs come in. When will we learn?
De Jong - probably get him as Barcelona need to sell but will pay over the odds.
Nunez - could have agreed a deal a month ago and will now watch him be a goal machine for Liverpool. A galling prospect when you consider Haaland as another 'one who got away' at City also.
Torres - release clause of £42m well known and sure enough we don't want to pay it so now Spurs likely favourite for him.
Timber - could still happen but he has concerns around playing time pre World Cup.

It is truly pathetic if we start the window with 4 targets and miss all of them!

Well appreciate the window doesn't open til tomorrow and I do take heart from Ed002 saying on the Liverpool page a few days back for them to not hold their breath re getting Nunez. Suspect that's not the position now though.

I can see Greenwood being a 'new attacker', Van de Beek and Garner being the new midfield and Ten Hag being told to work with what he's got with defensively!

What a mess.

Greenwood isn’t coming back from a long term injury, he’s waiting to find out if he’s about to be charged or not.

I see no way back for him regardless.

Kobe can back from something similar.

I can see Greenwood losing his number and being reintroduced if he’s not charged.

The club will think they invested a lot in him and his value will be relatively low now regardless. They won’t write that off lightly.

If budgets are tight and other options come up and take budget that leaves us short us front. It will be spun as a new signing and some sort of redemption by winning the Europa.

Not saying I agree but what I expect.

Yeah, but it was a different time with Kobe. I don’t know enough about his misdemeanours to comment on them mate.

But there’s a lot of footage etc on greenwood- which I think makes it very hard to bring him back.

If there’s no case to answer in terms of a charge then maybe, but I will be very very shocked.

I will wait to see what happens in the window rather than making assessments before the window is open on deals not yet made by second rate journos without a story commented otherwise.

As for Greenwood, yes I see a way back quite easily, all depends on the outcome of any investigation.

Can’t see a way back for Greenwood personally but as others have noted it depends on whether he’s charged. If so, I think regardless if found guilty or not United would cut ties beforehand. Contractually presumably under Gross Misconduct.

I appreciate we can only judge the transfer window once it’s shut and it’s yet to open. Feels a bit Groundhog Day though doesn’t it.

You’ve all seen the videos of what Greenwood did. How can anyone countenance allowing him back? Some things are above football. Although Newcastle don’t seem to think so .

Patrick, I guess the counter argument is looking at who wears the number 7 shirt and those misdemeanours.

Personally, I think it will be hard to see him back.

The window doesn't open nut other clubs have got players done ready ?‍♂️.

We were all floated the lie of things changing, that football was numero uno.

We must be negotiating with the fax machine that we used to sell dea gea to madrid.

A few people are going to do themselves a disservice this window. No need to panic, big changes coming both with existing squad and loanees as well as new signings.

The media is whipping everyone up I to a frenzy, not much to report on, so a nice juicy transfer battle between utd and Liverpool is the order of the day.

Seriously need to relax a bit and let the club get on with business. I'm most excited about EtH and the changes he is going to bring. Let the process work out, they don't need to make YOU happy, they need to give EtH what he needs to be successful. This is not a quick fix, so don't expect 2 galactic signings and then we are challenging for the title.

Bolger what is your problem, where do you get all this we were sold a lie drama stuff from, it’s ridiculous talk and with no substance to any of it, you or nobody does have any idea who or what ETH or the clubs plan will be. Journo’s make a living out of making there stuff up to hook people like you and whip them into a frenzy, chill out, nothing can be as bad as watching a RR team so things can only get better

Plus all the players your in a frenzy about, no one even knows if better then what we have!
