If reported transfer fee for De Jong is correct there's no wonder its took longer to sign off than War and Peace was to write. £54m rising to £69m.

If that is the end fee then we really should applaud Murtough and accept it was worth the wait. It shows we are trying to not be mugged off over transfer fees which will be good moving forward.

Why, what was the amount Barcelona wanted in GBP?

Wasn’t it reported at being around £80/ 85M? I could be wrong but the reported fee Halesini is saying sounds quite low to me in comparison to all the stories.

Weren't they initially trying for £84/ 85 million. If so, I am glad it has been drawn out. Am fed up with being used as a cashpoint machine by others.
All well and good saying we are profligate, what about the fact clubs always seem to ask more from us, than others, for their players.
Didn't Atletico ask for about £50million from us last summer for Trippier and then sold him in January for about £12million.

€85 million euros most likely which means we’ve saved about £4 million if the add ons are achievable.

Hardly anything to write home about.

Well I think we’ve saved more than that. And when you consider we’ve previously paid probably over the odds for players, this would suggest we are conducting business better.
