Laporta saying Barcelona wants to keep Fdj. day keeps getting worse. Really think the club should move on. Barcelona playing about and Fdj doesn't want to come, it's a bad combo.

wouldn't worry about what he says too much he also said he'd have to take a lesser salary. I don't think we go this far down the rabbit hole to come back with nothing.

Agree completely Tim. I think it's time to walk away from this one.

You're taking what Laporta (a politician) says as gospel. He said last month that Frenkie wasn't going anywhere and then continued to negotiate with us.

If De Jong doesn't want to leave then we should walk away bit don't take any credence to what Laporta says. I would assume FDJ signs in the next week.

You can really copy and paste his statement from the Messi saga. He said exactly the same thing and a week later Messi was having his medical in Paris.

"""It’s fighting talk from the president, who is arguably still drunk on Thursday’s injection of €200 million into the club’s coffers as a result of the sale of TV rights.
However, there are two big provisos to this bravado, one that he states and one that he doesn’t.
First of all, as he says, due to the salary capping limitations placed on the club, De Jong’s huge salary would have to be massively reduced to fit into the allowed parameters. This is the same issue that has caused Ousmane Dembélé to leave the club this week.
What makes this even worse for De Jong is that there was reportedly a regular increase built into his salary, so it would be going in the opposite direction.
Barcelona cannot register the new players they have acquired or are about to acquire on free transfers, such as Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, unless they ditch some salaries off the payroll.
De Jong’s is among the biggest.
The other issue – the one Laporta fails to mention – is that another restriction placed on the club is that they are only allowed to spend a third on transfers as they make in sales.
Given that they are furiously bidding on players such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Bernado Silva, they surely understand that players will need to be sold to fulfil even one of those ambitions.
Laporta’s words should therefore be taken with a slight pinch of salt, an attempt to save face and show a swan-like tranquility whilst his legs continue to paddle furiously below the surface. """

I would drop it and move on. This is like thiago, ramos, hazzard saga. Those were even more convincing. This one is another rubbishshow.

It's not fighting talk. They just made 200 million € for transfers. De Jong doesn't want to join. End of story really.

And 90% of the rest of your post is made up fantasy. They are not after Bernardo Silva anymore. And Rafinha costs 60 mill. The others are bosman players. They have 200 mill to spend. Do the math.

For me, i think the most important factor is whether de Jong wants to come to United or not. If he does, then pay the money and do the deal. If he doesn't, then run a million miles as this will turn into another Pogba scenario. We do not need more mercenaries in the club, we need humble, honest players who will work hard for the cause. I'm not sure De Jong's heart is in this, and who can blame him with the circus that our club has become.
