think we will wait to the very very end for FDJ.

I agree Recon2, EtH obviously has a style he wants to play and believes that De Jong is the key to that working. I think he will either get his man or we will make a late switch to someone else, probably a different type.
I also think from what he has seen in pre-season that he could make something of Iqbal/ Savage alongside Fred/ McTominy and Erikson.

It seems painfully clear to me that the De Jong saga will end with him either staying at Barcelona or moving to another champions league club. If he was coming to us he would be here by now.

My personal opinion is its time to move on.

It’s difficult to say right now.

On the one hand, I’d like to assume that the club spoke to FDJ and established his desire to join before agreeing a fee and putting in a bid. Likewise, you’d hope that we remain confident that he still wants to join given that we still seem to be fixated on getting the transfer over the line. If this is the case, I can see it going right down to the wire.

However, part of me worries that FDJ has told ETH that he doesn’t want to join since the very beginning and that the the club is just banking on Barcelona forcing him out to alleviate their financial issues. If that’s the case, I’d rather he went elsewhere. The last thing we need is another player on huge wages who doesn’t want to be here.

All th3 latest rumours say he doesn't want to come, feels like another Di Maria to me. I really don't understand why we haven't moved on.

Me either Tony, seems like a no brainier to just bring in Neves. Better defensively, available and would be happy to move.

{Ed002's Note - Wolves have not made him available.}

He is less available than fdj and likely more expensive.
At least Barcelona want fdj out.

Theyd do ken, and the Manager wants him, but I haven't seen anything that says he is interested in coming to us. It just seems very very odd to me. I think he will leave but go elsewhere.

I'd find it hard to believe that the manager, who knows him and has worked with him, has'nt got some idea of what's really going on with the player behind all the headlines.

I'm sure Ten Hag would have moved on if the player or his agent had told him it was a 100% non starter .

Ajh I agree but you and I don't need to see any evidence.
I've said if eth knows the player doesn't want to come then he should admit that and tell the club to move on.
I'm working on the assumption and it is only an assumption that eth knows more and that's why he is hanging in there.
It's quite clear that his preference is to stay there but if he is forced out he may well choose another club if he has the option or he may well choose to reunite with eth. I'm hoping the latter.

It's generally called 'tapping up' whenever I bring it up here, but the notion that ten Hag and de Jong (and de Ligt, and van der Beek) haven't stayed in touch privately since they were all at Ajax is absurd. I think he knows exactly what's going on and the fact that it still is (whatever it is), can only be good news for us?

Spenno it's not tapping up Barcelona have allowed the club to talk to fdj. It's only secret calls if you believe the muck in the tabloids and twitter.

Who holds the cards? Is it FDJ or Barcelona? . United love the clicks. Is frenkie wanting out but using ETH and United to get his owed money now? Does he have any pending loyalty bonus? Have United told his reps let the story drag? This is by far the weirdest transfer Story I’ve come across. Tops Wesley sneijder, Nicolas Gaitan.

I’ve got a feeling, United aren’t interested in the transfer but their media team want the story. If there were issues then loan to buy like PSG do would be the way to go.

I think its pretty clear United and our manager want the transfer but he doesn't want to come.

If they spend all summer chasing someone who won't come then they will look like idiots and I doubt that's worth some clicks.
