For years Ronaldo has been lauded regarding his professionalism, his love for the game and his winning mentality etc. now shows its only when it suits him, he's showing he's the same as all the other mercenaries at the top end of the game.
Cut our losses, leave him to stew and watch the toys be thrown from te pram.

Sorry that's just so not fair. He came to Utd to win things. If the other members of the team and managers had half his professionalism last season we would have finished in the champions league at worst.

He has only a year or two left max at the top elite level of football. He dragged a not briiliant Portugal team to win a European competition.

All the top English teams have had to import top European or South American players to be able to win the big trophies. Our national team as evidenced by the men's failure to win the Euro championship last year (with the big advantage of being at home) is a reflection of the malaise that is endemic in our football. Our homegrown players with a few notable exceptions are not good enough. Likewise English managers. It's no coincidence all the top teams do NOT have an English manager.

Its about time people line Ronaldo were properly appreciated for what they have done and how. I am Utd fan and dislike City intensely. Likewise Liverpool. Yet I recognise the sheer ruthlessness and professionalism of Pep and Klopp. They have taken the game to another level in this country and young English players if they have the sense to learn and forget all their social media rubbish and having expensive cars and toys will be the beneficiaries. They have to earn the right to have the luxury lifestyle.

Ronaldo has earned that right and the right to move to a team who will give him a real chance of winning something and playing at the highest level.

I can't abide mediocrity. Sir Alex gave us something very special after years of mediocrity. I hope ETH can do the same with or without Ronaldo.

Salford ronaldo is demanding we let him go. To where exactly? You’d think we were blocking his every route out the club. No one wants him.

Caolan I have no idea exactly what Ronaldo wants. My point is more about a principle. That he should not be chastised for wanting to be a winner if the club and team have not fulfilled expectations that they gave him reason to believe in when he signed for us.

Salford, he signed a contract which he now wishes to renege on. I think criticism is absolutely fair.

He had an offer from Saudi Arabia, he should have taken that.

He's a massive mard ar*se!
We should never have brought him back.
He plays for Ronaldo and nobody else.
Get rid and let him go and find himself another club.

Salford since when is football a 1 man game or team?
Club owes him nothing at all.
If he wants out of his contract let him buy himself out it's not like he can't afford it.

29 Jul 2022 15:11:56
He should have wanted out even before the season ended, not wait till pre season. Disrupting everyones plan. His arrogance and selfishness is laughable.

29 Jul 2022 15:28:36
Salford, did you "chastise" Pogba for wanting out and so he could be a winner?

Or is it one rule for one and another rule for another?

11.) 29 Jul 2022

He's happy to play for any CL club this season in order to add a couple of penalties or scrambled goals to his impressive tally to edge away from Messi and cement himself as the competition's top scorer forever. Currently looks like being Sporting, where it all began for him. I imaging he'd take a pay cut to do so, especially to help out the side that put him in the window all those years ago.
The whole idea of being loaned away for a season to play for a different club for the sole reason of playing in the CL is tough to take, but is it so hard to believe? If (perish the thought) PSG had failed to qualify for the CL and City offered to loan him for a season, would that be so hard to believe? It's the fact he'll be almost 40 and at the point we were looking to replace him upon his return that is the sticking point for me.

29 Jul 2022 16:24:17
He could show some respect to the club that made him and stood by him through difficult times when he was younger.

As I say, love the player and was buzzing he came back as a good 90% of us were. But he’s being a w⚓️.

Remember Ed saying how we treat players poorly then wonder why players think twice about joining us. If Ronaldo has another offer just set a price and let him go. Have we forgotten he was referred to in terms of being held against his will back in 2009.

The club need to stop thinking about the hit on the income stream and move on. Buy a young striker we can get behind, it’s 2022 not 2008, the clubs emotion tap needs turning off.

29 Jul 2022 16:39:47
^ I'm referring to the idea of PSG loaning Messi out should they have failed to quality for CL btw. Completely missed his name out.

Sorry Redman that statement about how we treat players is laughable

We pay probably the highest in wages and they don’t have to lift a finger for anything

I’d love to be treated like that

Don’t get me wrong the club has made some awful mistakes, the main one being Pogba but I remember Ed saying we were holding him hostage which is a ridiculous statement

I’d gladly take being held hostage for £290,000 a week.

29 Jul 2022 18:14:27
Redman he said he was a slave because we didn’t sell him in 2008. Which if my memory is correct was around 6 months after he signed a 5 year deal.

17.) 29 Jul 2022
29 Jul 2022 18:39:04
I am not on his side re holding him against his will, that was nonsense, just can’t be doing with hearing it all again.

Imagine if before you signed a contract for a new job you were promised things good working conditions. co workers who were going to work with you a manager who knew how to run things and targets to aim for which would impact your salary. You sign because of these assurances then find out its all lies. Your Co workers are lazy your boss hasn't a clue how to run things and therefore you can't fulfil the targets you were aiming for. Would you sit quietly and accept it. If so more fool you.

Salford,

Ronaldo went missing when he was told he wouldn’t be selected in the Manchester derby. Top stuff from the goat.

20.) 29 Jul 2022
29 Jul 2022 20:23:24
Red Man, I think the problem is there are no offers. I get the impression if someone came in with a reasonable offer, the club, but more importantly ETH, would be happy enough to see him go.

21.) 29 Jul 2022
29 Jul 2022 20:49:35
Nobody is holding a gun to Ronaldos head making him stay and if ETH is as smart as I think he is there isn't a shred of doubt he wants him gone. The fact is nobody has come in for him.

He's almost 40, has an ego comparable with the size of the sun, refuses to be a substitute, has spent the last 2 summers on strike - angling for a transfer, and if you watch him reeeally closely he's starting to look more and more like Robert de niro in The Irishman with all the de-aging technology that didn't actually work very well. So yeh, the lack of interest in him is a real puzzle.

22.) 29 Jul 2022
29 Jul 2022 21:56:42
The way that it is being spun is that he wants to leave for a club with CL and that will challenge for major honours.
That would seem to be at odds with itself. Most clubs that seriously stand a chance of winning something aren't interested - they have their frontlines sorted, although arguably Chelsea and Bayern have glaring holes. The only side to show legitimate interest (Athletico) went into meltdown when the fans found out.
This isn't about him winning something, it's about his hellbent desire to score more CL goals, regardless of whether they go on to win the thing or not. He wants to edge further from Messi. There's currently a 15 goal gap, and Messi is two years younger; you'd fancy this is a tall order even for the actual greatest player of all time to close.

‘Ronaldo has earned … the right to move to a team who will give him a real chance of winning something and playing at the highest level. ’

Salford - earning the right is subjective at best. Pogba won the World Cup - did that earn him the right to move elsewhere for a better chance of winning? He was rightly castigated on here for continually agitating for a move via his agent. Why does Ronaldo get a free pass?

This completely blinded love affair with Ronaldo by some is just bizarre. It’s like there’s a collective Stockholm Syndrome happening.

Ronaldo had just emerged into a world class talent when he left us in 09. Pursued his dream to play for Real etc. So I can’t stand any of this ‘he loves the club’ crap. He’s an employee on a very lucrative contract. One that says he plays for United whether winning or losing, rain or shine.

He’s absolutely trashed his United legacy for me regardless whether he stays or goes now.

I hope I can watch him score goals for us, win games, hopefully win silverware.

But once you’ve told the wife you’re leaving her as fancy a new bit of fluff at the office it’s never quite the same when you come back with your tail between your legs as she turned you down.
