Tough game Saturday and any win will be Great. They have the winningest percentage against us of any PL team in the PL era. Read that today and did not know that.

They have spent a lot of money this summer and new coach so interested to see how they play and these new players.

A couple of lesser known foreign managers have come in and performed miracles in the Prem recently, like Glasner. Wonder if the Brighton guy will be next, seems a bit young to me but who knows. Brighton have a knack of unearthing these gems, Dan Ashworth or not.

We beat them 2-0 at the end of last season at their home when we were in horrendous form with no fit center backs. We'll be alright.

Brighton have a good team on the back of a great result against Everton.

Although I'm not sure the performance matched the scoreline. Everton were poor and played 30 minutes with 10 men. While Brighton didn't create that many good chances. The first goal was a good move against the run of play at the time. The second and third were shots from further out through a crowd of players.

They hardly pulled a 10 man side apart, and the scoreline flattered them a little. 2-1 or 2-0 would have been a more reflective scoreline of how the game went.

If you're into xG stats United had 2.43 xG against Fulham to their 0.44.

Brighton managed 1.44 xG to Everton's 0.45

Suggesting that United created the better chances of the two teams in the first round of fixtures.

It won't be an easy game against them, they have a new manager and that makes it harder to plan your tactics as you have little information for how the opposition will likely play. While playing only 60 minutes of competitive football against a full team of 11 players makes it hard to even take much from their first game of the season.

Their biggest threat comes down the wings, with players like Mitoma and Adingra and Minteh all looking dangerous on the counter. While they will be missing Ferguson and March due to injuries.

I think we need to focus more on ourselves, getting all our players fit and starting to play together to start building up those relationships and the interplay. We should have enough to beat them, but this is the EPL and it's predictably unpredictable.

I hate watching us play Brighton. It's always a tough watch when we face technical and hard working players and Brighton have had plenty of them in recent years. They've embarrassed us in recent years when it comes to how a football club should be run.

The penalty after the final whistle springs to mind, a game we were fully dominated in. I think they hit the post 3 times as well, it was criminal they didn't leave with 3 points that day.

I'd take another scrappy 1-0 here.

Winningest percentage!

Tough game away from home. We have to go there and win.

Next up is Liverpool, and the pressure is taken off a little if we win these first two games.

I sense the media is sharpening hatchets ready for when we lose a game. Apparently Jenas was discussing whether EtH would be sacked before christmas, at the same time he was being sacked himself. Poetic justice. We have to give this new management and coaching team a chance to see what they can do. Same goes for the players, who surely will make a few mistakes and we will drop points. But I refuse to give up my optimism for this season, can't wait to see what we can deliver.

Always feel nervous playing Brighton. They seem to always get up for United and put on a display. Not surprised they have the winningest record against us compared to everyone else.

Hopefully a good solid week with all the new boys in training and we come out firing.

Dodgy

I am also optimistic and its a really good game to measure where we are. The win at the end of the season last year is a bit deceiving as both teams were out of everything by then and both had injuries. They are definitely ahead of us in term of having had their team together earlier in pre season and working with their players.

On Jenas I am not the least surprised having met him a few times and was surprised how he has become a celeb in the uk circles:)
