Seen rumoura in the media about Utd being interested again in Braithwaite but his form this season has not been great. Watched him today and positionally he was all over rhe place and seemed well off the pace. Slow to cover or track back. Might just be he is ready covering from an injury but I think there are better defenders for the money Everton would want.

He's been injured for most of the season and is only just coming back from injury. I'd expect him to be off the pace right now.

There are definitely better value players available.
But the money we spend isn't the only thing that governs who we target.
Things like leadership and attitude, potential, and whether we like it or not having a British core in the first team (or at least homegrown players) .
We have several homegrown players who are likely to leave next summer (Heaton, Evans, Maguire, and Sancho) . Added to the likes of McTominay and AWB who left this summer.
That would leave us with Shaw, Mount, Rashford, Collyer and Garnacho (both turn 21 before next season) as the only players in our squad who qualify as "homegrown".
That's 5 and we need 7 or we can only name a 23 man squad next season.
So we very much need to look at homegrown players and prioritise them over the next couple of windows. Unfortunately there are very few homegrown players who are both of the quality we need AND available to us.
With those few that might be very expensive. We might just have to bite the bullet on one or two of them.
