I know it hasn't been mentioned much but what about wood from forest, he's proven in the league and definitely better than we have.

He'd be okay as a support option for a year or so maybe. But it's important to understand that he has had a phenomenal season that is out of the norm for him. He massively over performed his xG by just over 5 goals. So he would have been expected to score 15 league goals instead of 20 given the chances he had.
Some players (elite ones) will typically over perform their xG. Chris Wood isn't a player who has normally over performed his xG, which suggests this season was a bit of a purple patch for him.

He's still a good player, and would 100% be better than what we currently have. But he is the type of player you sign alongside a younger player who will be first choice, with Wood offering some experience and leadership.

Absolutely spot on Happy. I've mentioned here several times how frustrating it is to see people lambast xG. Seeing a good example of its proper usage is refreshing.
