Everyone questioning if Stoner is turning into a Utd fan, this week it should be us turning into Gooners... If we can have a Utd / Arsenal double this Sunday it could be one if the most important days of the title race.

Arsenal on their day can be dangerous, I'm hoping they have one of those days where their ordinary players play like world 11 players... Shouldn't be too hard, seems like you can be a mediocre player but based at one of the Spanish big two and you're a shoe in! I'm going to predict Walcott master class destroying Citeh on the break, 4 times !

Would be typical for one of the weakest Liverpool teams in years to come and do us this weekend... But I'm going to confidently predict we score 4 or more... Now can we limit the buck toothed gentleman down to one or two... ?

Final point, red cards could have a big part to play I sense... you heard it here first!

MysticDodgyBanter

PS: Evans heads an attacking corner over the bar by 3.2metres on 74 minutes.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I've got a sneaking feeling that Evans might pop up with a goal on sunday. Not sure why.

TK-Red

Agree2 Disagree0

I'll be happy so long as we match City's result TBH, whether that be 2 wins or 2 draws. I wouldn't like to entertain the thought of us losing though. Can't wait til Sunday TBF.

Gav

Agree0 Disagree1

My money is on Rafa anytime!

Jono

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Gav, matching their result is a big positive for us... But beating their result could be very special indeed!

Evans scoring? Could probably see Evra / Evans / Agger being the scoters after all the talk on Sly about the strikers.

DodgyBanter

Agree0 Disagree0

I find it hard to dislike Arsenal. We had that intense rivalry when Keown was around and Pizzagate but over the last 15 years they have played great football and have had some great players. Perhaps it's because they are no longer a threat...but I don't think it is (bring on the abuse)

AJH

Agree2 Disagree1

I don't think scousers will be a a walk over like many are predicting. This is their cup final. They will be out to beat us, so let's hope we can start well.
I'm going for us to win by the odd goal.

Nice to see that the club is recognising the contribution that James Gibson made to the club in the 30s. Without his investment we may not even exist today. I did not know anything about him or what he did for the club, just read about it, it makes a very interested read for anyone interested in the clubs history.

If any... Wilfried Zaha will sign for around £15 million.

SAF will wait until the summer transfer window to make any BIG changes to the team for the simple reason being that if he signed a top player in this transfer window, chances are the player would be cup-tied and therefore could only play league matches.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I think Zaha's fee will be a lot lower than that.

CAIN,

I don't think I'd risk pitting Vidic against Suarez it's a red card waiting to happen.

Vidic isn't 100% Cain. Unless there is an injury Ferdinand & Evans will play. they have kept two clean sheets in a row.

Feel the need to post to get that pile of junk mr united calls an opinion off the top of my favourite website.

So what team are we all expecting for Sunday?

I think I would go with DDG, rafael, vidic, Evans, evra, young, cleverley, Carrick, kagawa, Hernandez, van Persie.

Even if Rooney is fit I would still have him on the bench, it would give Hernandez confidence and also show Rooney he needs to work hard to get his place back.

I was tempted to say Valencia as Enrique is out, but he really is struggling for form and I think we need somebody guarantee to get at their full back and young would do that. Only risk then is evra being left exposed as young does a lot of his work, so maybe try kagawa on the right.

Quite a few options, be nice to have some chat about the match instead of sniping and Wesley Schneider.

GDS {Ed004's Note - I reckon Fergie will play it safe and we will see Valencia brought in for Kagawa. It will be the same team vs Chelsea, City and Arsenal with the injured Rooney replaced with Hernandez}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I'd like us to go for the jugular but you never can tell with SAF. He has become somewhat...unpredictable

AJH

Agree0 Disagree0

I think pretty much the same team GDS maybe Rio in for Vida but apart from that the same. The problem will be the set up as I think he will push Kags to a wide position and play 4-4-1-1 when we should be going for the jugular!

Jono {Ed004's Note - Sorry didnt see Vuduc in defence. I don't think he will start}

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Rio may start ahead of Vidic and Valencia ahead of Kagawa. I'd expect Rooney to start ahead of Hernandez if fit, but I'm not sure he is. The rest of your lineup is nailed on IMO. If Rooney starts I'd like to see Hernandez given at least 20-25 mins to try and tear up their defence.

Gav

Agree2 Disagree1

I think the ed is right on this one. With enrique out and toni and rafael down the right would prob see liverpool defend deeper to combat their pace.
To be honest i am not too bothered about who we put out but am instead more worried about who the scousers play. With enrique out will it be glen on teh left with kelly on the right? will it be stevie-me and lucas central or will allen/henderon get in ahead of lucas? As for there attack i can see a front 3 of sturridge, rat boy, and sterling with jonjo behind.

As for the weekend results i can see us winning by 2 goals, chelski and spurs winning, and finally i can see a draw between city and arsenal.

Paso

Agree0 Disagree2

Who is sniping and is he any good?

AJH

Agree1 Disagree0

I think the line-up will be DDG, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia, Young, Rooney & RvP. Like Ed004 said if Rooney doesn't make it Hernandez will play just ahead of RvP.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree1

If Rooney isn't back yet then I'd like to see the same team we played in the other big games except with Kagawa playing behind RVP. I'd also prefer to see Nani on the right instead of Valencia as I think Nani, Kagawa, Cleverley and RVP would link up perfectly.

TK-Red

Agree1 Disagree0

AJH

I think it was an attempt at Sneijder ;-)

Jono

Agree4 Disagree0

Ddg, Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra
Valencia, Carrick, Cleverly, Young
Rooney if fit or Kagawa, Van persie.
Will have a strong bench also, gotta be more than enough to take 3 points off them!

Just watched ESPN legends of premier league and they had Keane on there! Gone all misty eyed just remembering the great man! Legend doesnt evem come close to describing him.
Chris the REDman

Believable10 Unbelievable3

There is only one word to describe him an that's Irish ....... No I'm jokin cause I'm slightly bias but you'd be surprised how many Irish people hate him because he left the WC in 2002....... But he will always be a legend to me ..

CAIN

Agree2 Disagree1

I blame Mick McCarthy for that. Keane at least tried to improve things and no one backed him.

A real shame too, cause with Keane they could of done even better in a very successful tournament for them.

Agree5 Disagree0

RK's leaving world cup.. Without mentioning specifics about something that is only hearsay, was his early return not rumoured to be for family related issues at home that were then super injunctioned?

DodgyBanter

I'm Irish, and I totally love Keane. I constantly fight my fellow countrymen over Keanes walkout in 2002. His book covers this, McCarthy tried to belittle him in front of the whole squad and staff! Everyone knows not to mess with Roy! lol

After a tough day at work, reading this lot has made me chuckle. There's the loveable Stoner desperately trying to cling to credibility after 8 long years with some excellent banter cutting him down to size.

Then there's the ever cheerful KLOOT who I'm sure does it just for effect. Nobody is that miserable....are they? KLOOT, I started supporting in '75 in the second division, started going in '78, went through the 80's, and was there in '93 against Blackburn in my top with the collar turned up (and I lived in Longsight). I think fifty year old blokes in replica tops look a little odd but it's up to them - not for me now I've succumbed to middle age but it's not for me to judge others. Seriously KLOOT, are you genuinely that angry?

GDS will be happy to see United are releasing another new home kit next season only with a Cantona collar. Now there will be many discussions about the wrong and rights of it on this site. Mostly because the money will not be going towards the squad or reducing ticket prices it is going straight into the pockets of those American leaches. They must be laughing their heads off, I am sure GDS and Sydney will apologise for them and say its a good thing. Yesterday someone said they started to go to the game in the 70's like myself and all through the 80's. At that time no one who was not a kid wore a replica top to the game. I just don't get it. You are a grown man why are you dressing up as a footballer. Would you dress up as a cowboy to go to the pictures. When you are a little kid you dream of playing for United and pulling on the red shirt at Old Trafford and it is a possibility but if you haven't been signed up by 14 forget it and deal with it. Do you think you look good in a replica top? simple answer no you look like a clueless knobhead who supports Newcastle or some other club. Do you believe that by wearing down to the pub when United are on it somehow makes you a real fan? Forget it everyone else in the pub thinks who's the fat person in a top that's too tight for him. If you play 5 a side then by all means wear any United top you like. But please next time you go rushing to your local sports shop to purchase the latest top remember where the money is going to. I AM KLOOT

Believable7 Unbelievable18

Wow such positivity for a change...oh hang on! Found something else to moan about I see.

I never wear a replica shirt but the thought of taking the moral high ground by saying 'you look like a clueless knobhead' doesn't appeal to me personally. Perhaps you feel unfulfilled unless you are moaning about something or someone?

KLOOT...the man who despises Rooney for bending the club over backwards for wages YET thinks the club should have bent over backwards for Pogba at the age of 18??

KLOOT...the man who despises the Glazer's for crippling the club with debt which apparently drastically restricts our transfer budget YET his favourite player is RVP, who was 28 and injury prone when our owner's sanctioned a £24m + £150k p/week move for??

KLOOT...the man who does not rate Rooney YET thinks Mario Balotelli is a future Ballon D'or winner??

KLOOT the enigma, lol.

Gav

p.s. this post is meant in jest, I do like the 'presence' of your posts mate but sometimes the 'content' of them is shockingly negative and down beat....

Agree11 Disagree1

Kloot - Are you sure your a Man United fan or for that matter a football fan??.... It is about supporting the team you love no matter what. Its pride and passion not fancy dress..... You need to grow up.

Agree8 Disagree2

Haha brilliant, kloot has finally lost the plot. I will wear what I want whenever I want, if I want to wear my united shirt to the game I'll wear it. Last I heard this wasn't a fashion site, if that post wasn't from you I would have been surprised if the eds would have even posted it.

Thanks for the name check though I am so glad I get up your nose.

You complain our midfield is poor and we need to buy new players then you demand people don't give money to one of the revenue streams.

Somebody call an ambulance, kloot has finally lost it.

GDS

Agree10 Disagree0

This is just pure drivel from someone who clearly has no pride for the club or passion to support them.... All you do is say Glazers this Glazers that... Did you know almost every team brings out a new kit every year... It is not a Glazer conspiracy !

Agree5 Disagree1

10 Jan 2013 18:21:03
so now your telling people what they can and can't wear? O but its ok if its a 5 a side kick about. Sorry but i take both my lads to games and so does my mate. The kids get excited about a new kit, and you possibly know what kids are like. Also its a good argument with the mrs, sorry person we're shopping at netto this month got replica kits to buy. So what if i buy one myself. I get enjoyment with my kids and thats the important thing. And once my littlest is old enough she's getting one too. The whole family at old trafford in replica kits.

Agree4 Disagree0

Bit harsh KLOOT, so are you RFT? you never answered me
Chris the REDman

Agree4 Disagree0

Oh shut up RFT you utter snobbish ar5ehole. Who are you to say who should wear what? So what if people wear replica shirts, whether it be to the football or to the pub? I won't apologise for the Glazers changing the kit every year but I will stick up for peoples right to wear whatever clothing they like without some nomark telling them they are a clueless knobhead. For the record, I don't actually own a United shirt and haven't done since 1999 but the difference between you and I is that I don't have delusions of self grandeur and importance. I would question what clothes hang in your wardrobe? You being the obvious pinnacle of fashion? Then again I don't suppose you care what people think do you? So perhaps you should just button it (no pub intended) with regards other people.

The only reason you call Gav the intellectual is because he absolutely flattens you every time. I read your drivel of a response and often wonder, what does this guy do with his life?

Perhaps you actually support United, and thats why you hang around our page.

Your love for "Jack" is beyond me, what world class talent has he shown this season apart from being sent off?

Your constant attacks at our team are frankly ridiculous, not one of your many statements about how poor our players seem to be has a grounding in fact. I think you are merely attempting to pick up on our own team's deficiencies to hide your team's own.

Go back to your banterless pages and let us debate our OWN team.

Yes Zaha is a bit raw and the unfinished product. But there is a lot of potential there that we can turn into a good player. People on here moan about how we missed out on bale at a similar age, and oxlade, ramsey and even walcott. All moved from the championship at a young all are developing. Imagine if we missed out on Zaha and he fulfills his potential. Imagine the moans then?

Agree2 Disagree0

Although I don't agree with the phrase '2nd rate' I do see a valid point here.

Surely if Nani leaves as some of us expect, there will only be ONE replacement on the wings? We have other positions which need addressing too. So would poster's prefer to play Valencia & Young with Zaha as cover/rotation OR buy a top class winger for the starting 11 (e.g. Bale, Rodriguez) so we can rotate one of Valenica/Young on the bench?

I know which option I'd prefer.

Gav

Gav who says nani is the only leaving? I can see one of the other two going as well. And a case can be made for any of the three to go, so its not cut and dried who actually is going. Personally if i had the replacements lined up i'd flog all three for the right money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gav 'The Intellectual' !

I think I'm changing my signoff name :) cheers for the suggestion, Stoner.

Would you answer one question though, how many seasons do you honestly think Jack will stick around for IF you keep missing out on all the trophies?

Thanks

If this 8 million figure is accurate for Sneijder. Sign him now!

A world class player with 3/4 years left on him of top level football. 6 months ago we couldn't get enough of him and once he's available iwe do nothing. We been needing this quality for our midfield for years or maybe it was just another ploy to appease fans and there never was any real interest!

Glaziers and co can't cry about money now, snap him up

Just been reading the posts from the last 24 hours and I am thinking of having a whip round so that StevieK and GDS can get a room - will anyone contribute?

I appreciate AJH dumped Stevie very recently but I'm not sure he's over it and more so you have now made him aware of what's going on with GDS, think you may have put your foot in it there Puzzled.

Much like an Arsenal fan with puppy dog eyes for Liverpool, before their game with United (which is totally unrelated to Arsenal btw). Weird!

I think you should have a bigger whip round and instead of getting them a room get them a LIFE ha ha

IMO Fraser Forster is one of if not THE best young keepers in the world, his shot stopping equals if not betters DDH but seems a little more robust...Im a big DDH fan but if he goes then Forster has to be the one for me...Im gonna sound crazy to some but id rather have him than Joe Hart or anyone else. ( and no im not judging him off that one barca game haha)

Rouge Diablo :)

Believable0 Unbelievable8

Sorry i meant DDG haha

Rouge Diablo :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Forster is not the best at catching either or communicating (probably as he can't speak English) either to be honest but his punching although I hate keepers doing it is quite good and his shot stopping and one on ones are good.

He is a good keeper who can handle big games as he has shown but I feel many will look at how he left Newcastle to excell at Celtic in a rubbish league as a negative point more than his good performances in the CL.

Jono

Agree1 Disagree0

Fair point Jono regarding his ariel skills, but he is English so don't see how communication would be a problem especially with jones smalling and evans, he can work on the catching, overall his stopping ability is great and as you say his 1 on ones are good...overall hes a top young keeper with way more pros than cons :) id rather have DDG but if he goes id love to see him take over.

Rouge Diablo :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha mate I was on about how I cannot understand a word he says. I know he is trying to speak English but just does it terribly ;-)

Jono

I really think a fluid and interchanging attacking 3 (behind RVP) of Rooney, Zaha and Kagawa could be excellent. I think Zaha and Kagawa could link up excellently. This leaves only two positions to be addressed, CM and LB...with our transfer budget per summer of around 45 million we could get 2/3 quality players for these positions. Zaha also offers the option to play a 4-3-3, something which we don't play enough IMO.

I think if Welbeck goes out on Loan then we will definitley be signing Zaha this window and keeping him at the club. It is very difficult to say how much of a success he will be, but we will see soon enough.

Fresh!

Agree1 Disagree1

Zaha is on the level below the rest of those players. 12m on a championship flash in the pan, with no end product. 12m on an attacking winger, when yet again, CM is being ignored. If we don't sign a CM before the window's up, I give up completely.

People keep saying sell DDH but he has been solid. He made a few mistakes early last year but he has grown. Our back four this year has been our problem. So I think keep him and watch him be the best keeper in the world. Thoughts??

Ok guys.....Nani.

The more I think about it, the more I hope the situation with him is not beyond repair and he could still prove to be a very good player for us.

Over the years he has thrilled me and exasperated me in equal measure - well, exasperated me more than thrilled me tbh.

I have went on record here stating I honestly couldn't make my mind up about him. I have criticised his mindset, his surliness, his petulance, his apparent lack of a football brain...and yet I still think there just might be something there that could benefit our club in the long run.

I have always rated him above Young, who I think is ordinary, and honestly thought he would flourish in the type of football we are moving towards.

He is obviously a player that loves the club, and needs to be loved too - some players are needy like that, to show off his best form.

When he had the full backing of Fergie, he was very good for us, and I just think if Fergie maybe put an arm around his shoulder, and said, 'look son, I know what you are capable of, and I know what you can bring to this team if you apply yourself properly. Quit the need to prove yourself Ronaldo's successor - you try too hard to do this and it affects your performances. You can still go on to be a great United player, and I'll give you that chance as long as you work hard, cut out the theatrics, and enjoy your football'.

I've also said before, that for all his faults, he can still be a game-changer, and that if he went elsewhere, where he was maybe indulged a little and shown a bit of love, I have a horrible feeling that he would indeed turn out to be world-class.

What do you think? Am I ploughing a lonely furrow here?

StevieK

Believable13 Unbelievable4

From a footballing perspective, Nani is as frustrating as he is exiting, so im 50-50 about him leaving.

But then again he has a quality gol celebration, that must count for something !

Mick

Agree4 Disagree0

Definitely not lonely mate Percy has ploughed that many a time ;-)

On Nani though I think his biggest problems now are also with his team mates aswell as they are so used to the inconsistency that we can't really afford him In the team.

If we could magically predict when the 1 in ten game will come where he plays to his ability then he would be an asset but his general play, free kicks and corners are just so poor most of the time he just cannot stay.

IMO we should take anything for him as it frees up a spot in the 25, wages and gets us a fee for a player who as you say can change a game but more often than not its in favour of the opposition by stifling our attacks and infuriating his team mates.

Jono

Agree1 Disagree0

StevieK, it's over mate, it's not you it's me. I thought we had so much in common but Nani! It would be nice to think he could deliver as he had a great 6 months but I'd be amazed if he does...

AJH

Agree1 Disagree0

How can anyone even contemplate the exit of Nani when we have as candidate for first position in the exit queue, the lumbering, one-dimensional and ineffectual Valencia?

Aesop

Agree0 Disagree3

Aesop

Because he doesn't lose is games by playing like an arse

Kuala

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH - what? So one disagreement, and that's it? I thought we were stronger than that. Glad I found out what a fickle guy you are now, before things got more serious!

I know lads, I just can't help thinking Nani still might have something to offer the team - certainly more than Young, and with Toni seemingly stuck in a bit of a fug. I think I know which one opposition defenders would be more worried about.

Worst case scenario - Fergie does what I suggested above, Nani signs a new contract, it doesn't work out, we sell him with a few more years now left on his contract.

Would this not be better than the current situation where he will either run his contract down and go for nothing, or we get very little in a sale as he only has a year left on his contract?

StevieK

Agree3 Disagree0

I'm also 50/50 with Nani and always have been. He's SO frustrating but then it's always in the back of yer mind what he's capable of.

I won't worry too much whether he stays or goes TBH.

One worry I do have though - is that Nani may be sold and his only replacement will be Zaha. Is that really a statement of intent? Other posters seem to think we will buy 2 wingers but I very, very, much doubt that myself - given the number of other positions we need to alter.
