mentioned Ndidi on here a while back and got chewed for it. Shappy especially made it known it was not fifa and get my head out of the clouds.

But alas the great Shappy has spoken and Ndidi is now a great player.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed047's Note - how weird. 🤦‍♂️🤣

10 Jan 2020 19:31:55
I think I've always been fairly consistent about players. I have always said Ndidi is a good player, this season he has really sharpened up his defending. He always got high numbers of tackles and interceptions but he also made too many fouls often in silly or dangerous positions.

However, as good as he is at shielding the back four he still lacks in ability on the ball. He passing is limited, uncreative and safe. Nothing wrong with that.

However, that might be the thing that holds him back from moving to an elite club. The top clubs expect to have the majority of possession during a game and won't have to defend all that much. For a player like Ndidi who thrives in winning back possession and defending there is less importance on this kind of player.

Look how City play, if you put Ndidi in there instead of Fernandinho or Rodri then City lose a player who can start attacks and recycle possession quickly and progressively but gain a player who'll win a few more tackles in midfield. The issue is City normally have 60-70% possession most weeks and few teams will play through the middle against City so the ball won't be in the areas that Ndidi plays in for him to win it.

Ndidi is a great player for a side that will be expected to defend as much as the attack most weeks. For a side that will only spend 15-20% of any given match defending at most, his usefulness will be greatly diminished.

Altho he not an amazing passer he plays forward passes most of the time . he will easy play for top club in NXT 2 years . he's a lot better than your giving him credit for . his reading of the game and immense pressing and timing of tackle means the team can play higher and wins balls back quickly with player like him in the team . not everyone needs to be an amazing passer in a team tat keeps the ball .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would rather have Ndidi than Rodri in the Prem all day every day. His passing is much better than Shaps is giving him credit for.}

10 Jan 2020 21:09:26
Can't get Kante. He's the next best thing. Get in him and saul with a number 10 and RW and we'd be seriously cooking.

A proper coach on top of that and it'd be a completely different side.

If they're still looking for a DOF, I'll step up 😂.

10 Jan 2020 23:15:33
Personally I would look at Choudhury at Leicester if we were going to look at anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 12:25:12
I'd take Nididi in a heartbeat. I think he's highly under rated. It took some player to seemlessly fill Kantes boots which he did. I think as he's not got a huge loud personality he doesn't stand out sitting in midfield doing all the dirty work. I'd imagine he's probably very humble and professional given as he's doing a business degree as well I'd say he's the very type of player we should be signing.

From reading the posts here on a daily basis, it gives the impression / illusion that most posters have inside knowledge on the runnings of the club apart from the insight from ED2, the way that posts are structure.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed033's Note - What might give someone that impression is that most posters are highly knowledgable and highly intelligent?

10 Jan 2020 15:35:24
It gives me the impression people need to get a grip. It’s like a vortex of doom with poster after poster adding even more soon and gloom. We know things are not right but blimey, some people need to lighten up. Just my option but all opinions are valid eh ken.

{Ed025's Note - i know noucamp, i have been present at quite a few mate..

10 Jan 2020 21:01:09
Why can't we all be friends nou 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 21:02:20
Yes ed, frustration of course. Some people let it consume them though. We've been a very privileged club for years now, winning, consistently at the top of our game. Swings and roundabouts. We are quite lucky we have money available to make it swing a bit faster too.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats half the problem though angel, when you have been at the top for so long its hard to accept mediocrity, and clubs selling players boost up the prices as soon as they know united are interested, then it becomes hard to get shut of them mate..

10 Jan 2020 21:37:07
Where is the love, Angel? I actually made a New Year's resolution to scale it back on here, especially with Red Man. Though I think he'll secretly miss me :)

I didn’t make a resolution, ok maybe try more white instead of red wine. Thought a few times about commenting a bit less, then what the hell, it means too much to me. Stevie, would miss the craic if you do less.

Jonny

I expect we will win today, the cult/ support Ole no matter what brigade will come out again saying how he needs two more years to implement his manifesto of radical change, no more Oleexit. It won’t stop the downward spiral highlighted when we lose the next game. What was it the manager said, not an exact quote, one loss a month isn’t too bad (which even for him would be a feat in June)

I'm not going to go into all that ole said in his presser as I'm sure others will later but at least we have positive news on the maguire front. Injury not as bad as first reported and he could feature tomorrow.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 Jan 2020 11:13:09
I wouldn’t be celebrating. This has all the hallmarks of a player being rushed back too soon. Maguire is the type of player who will try to play through the pain barriers, but this could make his injury worse.

so spurs lose kane until april and are close to signing a top drawer replacement. we on the other hand have ZERO midfielders to speak of, are deficient in numerous other areas and yet still are doing nothing. Its hard to know what to say anymore.

They most definitely are GDS.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 12:11:54
Antonio Conte has spent 6 months in Seria A and has signed more players than we have signed in last 3 years. that's how you rebuild a team, don't just keep waiting for the players.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 12:46:42
Spot on Becks and GDS. let's not be under any illusion that it is not possible to rebuild in one window. Teams in the past (City, Real, Atletico) have shown that you can buy 8 or so players and shift out as many in one window if you have the will to do so. Anything after that is minor tweaks here and there as the bulk of your rebuild is done. The club simply do not have the appetite or desire to commit to fixing what is going on on the pitch, as the money is rolling in. And to make it worse, Ole is making comments like this: “We’ve got the players we have. If something happens we’ll tell you. I wouldn’t expect many ins and outs. ” We haven't got a hope in hell.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 12:55:25
That's called complete backing Becks.
I'm sure they will further add to their squad in this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 13:25:34
Conte is an experienced manager who knows what is needed, will set out his demands and because the powers at that club understand his experience will assist him. Ole doesn’t have the experience or the gravitas. Our board don’t want to spend the money in case Ole has to go.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 14:18:01
Didnt conte call out his board not that long ago? think it was either before or after the dortmund game. he said he needed more, wanted more in the summer and that the season wouldn't go the way he wanted if it didn't get fixed. that's how you turn up the heat and switch the focus onto the owners. Ole isn't helping himself by stating he's happy with what he has, you know for damn sure that the board won't cover for him they will throw him under the bus first chance they get.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 15:27:00
this month could be a disaster from a very thin injury ravaged squad we could lose pogba, young, chong apparently deal is nearly done for this month (latest in press) lingard won't be in favour signing up with riola the rat mctom still out for 4-5 weeks maguire injured for who knows how long could be days could be weeks? tunzabe still injured and gomes can speak to interested foreign teams if he's serious about leaving. somehow i can't see me finishing dry january.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 07:02:41
Brand, it is all about the brand for the senior executives, the image of the club to sell it to sponsors. Right now no matter how they spin it the brand is in trouble, interest is waning, players want to leave and don't want to come, players don't want to play, don't put effort in when they do, crowds are starting to dwindle. Yet stillWe look backwards instead of forwards. This is on Woodwards watch, this is on a board who seem stymied to make a decision over the useless manager. If they keep on this path, will the club be unattractive to any decent manager, how long will the like of a Poch or Allegri be sat there. The lack of decisiveness is frightening
.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

10 Jan 2020 09:12:58
Red man, coupled with the fact that half of our midfield is injured, the other half is useless, and the club are not buying any midfielders. We have someone like lingard, who has been totally useless, trying to lord it over the club.

The whole place is a shambles. I wake up every day in the hope that I read that DOF has been appointed, but nothing happens.

Good midfielders are available, Grealish, Fernandes, van der Beek, but we do nothing. If we were bringing anyone in this window, should we not have got them early in January to help the team out?

Solskjaer is just another mistake in the countless mistakes the club, Woodward and the board keep on making. Until change at the top happens, we're going to be in the doldrums. Solskjaer or no Solskjaer.

Couldn’t agree more. The manager is only one of the problems.

Agree5 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 10:05:45
There isn't going to be a brand if we carry on like this.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 10:44:33
I couldn't agree more with all the points made here. When you put it into context we are still one of, if not the biggest clubs in the world yet we are run like a sunday league side.

What proven top class manager is going to want to come into that with instant pressure and scrutiny due to the lack of backing and general footballing knowledge from the people above? Because at the end of the day its the manager who ultimately gets punished.

Change from the bottom up is desperately needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 11:44:22
Exactly what I have been saying for months Red Man. The ineptitude from the powers above is plain to see and Ole is taking a lot of flack. Some deserved but most of it should be aimed at the amateurs running the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 13:26:53
There is blame above Ole, said that for years but we need to deal with that issue because the board won’t sack themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 14:44:48
Ole knows he won the lotto getting the United job and he also knows he'll never get near another major club management job, so he's not going to rock the boat regarding transfers .

It was the same with Moyes when he came in .

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2020 14:58:31
It's hard to see any real change until the owners sell up. And then, we need new owners with genuine interest in sorting the footballing side of the club. This is not a quick fix, but the sooner this happens, the sooner the club can start recovering. Sadly while 70,000 keep paying money to watch, and millions buy shirts and other merchandise, the owners will sit there content in getting their £100m annual bonuses.
The sad part about it, is that it doesn't have yo be this way. The owners could invest in the ground, the staff, the facilities, a DOF, good players, good manager, and that will lead to "the brand" being extremely popular and will make them money while keeping us moaning idiots happy. They have chosen the cheap option, the option that requires the least amount of work. Snd this has lead to the deterioration of the club in every part of the business and most importantly, the footballing side.
