Now the Pogba situation is obviously a vital one to sort out. He is the long term solution to our midfield problem. I've been looking at our fixtures between now and january and feel there is plenty of oppertunity to play him the fixtures are:
Swansea(A), Benifica(H), Newcastle(H), Palace(H), Villa(A), Basle(A), Wolves(H), QPR(A), Fulham(A), Wigan(H), Blackburn(H).

Now out of those games the only ones i feel he shouldn't be involved in in some way are Benifica and Newcastle. I'd give him a sub role at Swansea for 20-30mins depending on the situation. Then he has to start against Palace and Basle(aslong as we've beaten Benifica) with a sub role at Villa sandwiched between the two. Then start him at Wolves and if he's done as well as i hope he'll do then he should be first choice for the rest of the year.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Is that £100M or £100M plus VAT, or £100M including VAT and Agent fees and VAT on Agent fees?}
---------------------------------------
Off course, Vat works both ways! If you sell Torres for £50 million plus Vat then buy Suarez & Carroll for a combined fee of £59 million plus Vat, then you would be entitled of Vat repayment on the £9 million. So if KK net spend is £30 million then a repayment by the HMRC would be due back to Liverpool football club. Solely on the transfers

Again the Vat charged on Agents fees would also be reclaimed as it is an expense.

Where as if Liverpool were actually selling players for more than they are buying other players they would have to pay
Vat.

I know we need people to make the differance now but i was wondering what everyone thinks of two young english lads i feel could be worth signing. The first is

Wilfried Zaha, for those who don't know him he's a 19yo striker, but it's his vision that stands out for me, he's got a great shot on him but he is best playing just off the front man in "the hole" as he sees everything and has a knack of picking the right pass at key moments. Certainll not the finished artical but someone who could be picked up cheaper and moulded into a top player at United.

The second is

Sammy Ameobi, He reminds me of a 18yo Ronaldo. Very tall and gangly with great talent and bags of pace. He's not got that magic Ronaldo has but can be a top player if you take the time to round off the rough edges as he is very raw. He plays as a left winger/forward and being a left footed winger would be a great asset to us as they can be hard to come by and he's english.

Well let me know what you guys think.

Ed002 - Doesn't a player have to be 17 to sign a professional contract in England? So it would have been March 2010 when he signed a professional contract. Did he sign a two year deal til 2012 or a three year deal til 2013?

Would a two year deal be likely Ed? Surely a three year deal is more likely isn't it?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - The deal is that under the age of 18 the maximum contract is 3 years and the player is still a child so a parent or guardian must still sign. I have no idea about the length for Pogba but our database shows it runs to June 2013 although I am well aware of speculation it runs out this year. Our database his not always accurate for youngsters as I have said.}

if the above is right and pogba's player profile on the man united website is right , which says he signed oct 2009 if he was only allowed to sign a 3 year contract would that not mean that the papers have got it right and that he is in the last year of his contract

VulcanDaily Mirror today. EXCLUSIVE: How Man United overtook Coca-Cola to become the world's SIXTH biggest brand
The glitzy address shows just how far Manchester United has come in the past seven years... as a money-making champion.
For while Sir Alex Ferguson has guaranteed glory on the football pitch, the suits behind the scenes have helped turn silverware into pure gold.
Little highlights this transformation better than the club’s London offices, housed in an anonymous Mayfair building, a stone’s throw from the Ritz hotel and with international hedge fund wheeler dealers as neighbours.
Old Trafford remains the centre of football operations, but this suite of offices is where the Red Devils cash in on the likes of Wayne Rooney and Nani’s superstar status.

An investigation into how the club has transformed itself into a £1.2billion franchise shows why the much-maligned Glazer family, who bought the club in 2005 and saddled it with huge debts, have hung on.
Only Google, Apple, the BBC, Dyson and Facebook are better known brands, marketing experts revealed recently, making it a bigger draw to advertisers than Coca Cola and Microsoft.
The numbers involved are staggering. The club’s estimated worldwide following is 333 million with 92 million in Asia, which is why the team often heads to the Far East for money spinning close-season tours.
The club’s turnover has crashed through the £100million barrier and experts estimate the value of the United brand alone as £412million, up from £197million in 2005.
It now has more than 20 “official partners” from US sportswear giant Nike and German car manufacturer Audi to Turkish Airlines and Chilean wine brand Casillero del Diablo.
But United’s business success is summed up by the shirt sponsorship. US financial giant AON has paid an estimated £20million a year for four seasons, 9,900% up on the £200,000 Sharp electronics paid back in 1992.
Just last month, a two-year £2million tie-up was announced with Du, a mobile phone firm in the United Arab Emirates, where an estimated 500,000 fans live.
It all began in earnest when the secretive Glazers moved in, convinced that United could be bigger than huge US sports brands such as the New York Yankees baseball team.
Since then, revenue has more than doubled, helping annual profits rise to £110million in the 12 months to the end of June this year.
Manchester United Ltd has a whole floor off Piccadilly, London, with a 70-strong sales and marketing team who are adept at striking lucrative sponsorship deals.
Commercial director Richard Arnold said recently: “We’ve only just started. There is a lot more to come. United has huge future potential.”
Firms are willing to pay big money to get in bed with United. Parcel giant DHL is spending a reported £40million in a four-year deal to sponsor the team’s training kit – for good reason.
When Wilkinson Sword launched a Manchester United-branded razor in Japan it sold 1.6 million units in just six weeks.
Tim Crow, of Synergy Sponsorship, which helped broker the deal, said: “United appeal to a huge number of people around the world. They have a bigger following then anybody else.
“Where we have used Manchester United, it has been extremely successful.”
Mr Crow said another key difference about the club is the quality of its power brokers, highlighted by a deal it clinched with another sponsor, Betfair.
He said: “We negotiated with another top-six club and their behaviour was absolutely terrible. They were completely disorganised.
“With United, you are dealing with a religion. You’ve got all that history in the club, that is what makes it worth what it is and that is what United understand.”
Dave Chattaway of Brand Finance, which calculates the value of brands, said: “Like them or hate them, it’s hard to dispute the business success story of the Glazer reign at Old Trafford.
“One of the key factors is the fact they have Sir Alex Ferguson. The Glazers have given him the resources for him to deliver consistent on-pitch success, which feeds the off-pitch expertise.”
The next stage in the Glazers’ plan is a rumoured stock market flotation that could value the club at £1.8billion. Reports have suggested they are willing to sell 25% of the club via a listing on the Singapore stock exchange, rather than in London.
Critics claim the Glazers will use income from the sale to cut their personal debts, rather then plough it back into the club.
Figures for Red Football Joint Venture, the Glazer company that controls United, show a loss of £108.9million in the year to the end of June.
At the same count, the club itself still had net debts of £358million and paid out £43.5million in interest alone last year, much to the disgust of fans.
Andy Green, a fund manager who writes a United blog called Andersred, keeps a close watch on the club’s finances.
He said: “The brand is being tarted around continuously. It’s ridiculous when you see an official wine partner, an official office supply partner. There has to be a limit to the number of brands you can hitch on to the United bandwagon.
“How far do you take it? Will there be an official washing powder? It just gets silly.”
Hostility to the Glazers’ ownership has waned, but Mr Green said fans are still angry at the debts dumped on the club and are anxious about what the future holds.
He said: “Yes, there is less hostility, but it doesn’t change the fact that, so far, it has cost more than £400million in interest, debt repayments and bank fees.
“That is enough for every fan to go free to every game, all season, for four years. It is a staggering amount of money.
“You need to ask why the club has had enormous success off the pitch in the past five years. Because it has won stuff on the pitch. Has it won stuff on the pitch because of the Glazers? Of course it hasn’t.”
Such criticism and concerns from fans are unlikely to deter the Americans. When you own one of the world’s biggest brands, it’s almost a licence to print money.

What do people make of Jordi Alba's comments today? When asked if he knew about the United rumours, he replied;

"I cannot say anything as I am focused on playing well for Valencia," he said.

"My representatives are there to handle everything that happens at a higher level. I am not thinking about these things because I do not know if they are true or not.

"I am very happy here and I only think about maintaining and then improving. Anything else is for my representatives to deal with."

Alba is reportedly being lined up for a new contract at Valencia, as they attempt to fend off the interest in his services, but he is remaining tight-lipped regarding his future.

"I have heard these rumours, but I don't know," he said.

"All I want is to play and to do as well as I can on the pitch. My representatives and Valencia will speak when the time comes."

Might be out of context with todays postings but been on my mind... been reading a lot lately of how sir Alex is a prime example of why managers need more time. This is false and undermining. If the other managers had what he had they would have had more time. The qualities of the man, his ability both with his job and with those around him bought him more time in those shakey years before the first trophy. What he did at aberdeen was truly incredible and one of the greatest football achievements in history. Without the quality of the man there would have been no patience. I hope everyone recognizes how great and that it will be in the mindset of the man to build another great team and to stop bleating on about the failings of our midfield, when slowly but surely changes are being made and with sydney I agree that it isn't just pick a target and send a taxi for him. If it takes three years to find build grow from within a mid that will last ten years then I'm patient I know those who work with him had and have faith and so should we, that the mid is not if but when. If i'm wrong i'll go support blackpool ..constantine..

But do I believe he will be as important or more important now? Probably not simply because Rodwell will do the jobs which will go unnoticed to fans, much like Carrick has done for the past few years at United. People remember the flair of a player like Wilshere or Cleverley, but no one remembers the breaking up of play that Carrick or Rodwell will do. Is that a fair enough answer mate?

Sydney!
-----------------------------------------
do u remember 1 player with the name Claude Makalele?he is so good in breaking up play even the role he played is name after him.so my point is if u r good enough,no matter which role u play, people will always remember u.

Did anyone else read that Mail article on Vidic? If you want a laugh, you should have a look at it. Apparently, SAF will 'offload' Vidic to Real Madrid because he's not 'committed' enough to Manchester United. The man who was recently named captain, isn't committed enough. The man who recently retired from International football to concentrate on his club football, isn't committed enough. The Mail even offer Jaap Stam's transfer away from United as an example of SAF's willingness to let top CB's leave. Even though Sir Alex has said, on more than one occasion, that getting rid of Stam when he did, was one of his biggest mistakes. I guess the International football week is to blame for articles like this. The papers have nothing else to write about.

doesnt anyone else think we should use this 40 million on wilshere instead of sneijder? imagine a midfield of wilshire, cleverley and morrison in 2-3 years, we'd have quality in the middle then. then add nani, rooney and young up top. we'd also have a good bench with valencia, hernandez, pogba etc. what does everyone reckon?

Alba/Izaguirre, Khedira/Asamoah, Brek Shea and Van Wolfswinkel

With Evra, Giggs, Fletcher, Park, Macheda, Diouf, Berbatov, Owen, Gibson and Kusczcak leaving along with possibly Carrick Anderson and Ferdinand depending on form over the rest of the season.
