Is Pogba on the move again? Juve have said that they won't be able to keep him if a big offer comes in. I think he was right to leave the club given the treatment of him and I for one would welcome him back if we could sort out his differences with the club. With a new man in charge who is handing opportunities to youngsters I think his head could be turned back this way.

Fresh mate you need to read everything. They are currently negoitiating a new deal for him. What was said was that with the current state of Italian football that it would be hard for Juve to keep hold of Pogba in a two or three years time. And he pointed out AC Milan had to sell both Tiago Silva and Ibrahimovic to PSG.

So I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba will go where the money is. I see him at City sooner or later as a long-term replacement for Yaya. I suspect there will be at least one more big money move first.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani and 20m?
Very unlikely, but Moyes bringing him back would be great publicity for him and Pogba is a good player and what we need.
I can see him leaving in the summer if Juve need money but his most likely destination will be Monaco or PSG for their 'project'

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand what was said Shappy. I'm just speculating and hoping.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Fresh, when he left I was gutted, It was obvious he was quality and even at the age of 20 is much better then Fellaini. Would be nice if he did come back but I think he is a mercenary type player and doubt he will be anywhere other then PSG, City, Monaco or Madrid within the next 5 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Pogba will come back, a player only gets 1 chance at united and they look at the player as a person, if he did what he did before he left contract wise (united fault really letting it can so close to the end of the contract) I don't think moyes would be interested as its the whole package not just what he does on a football pitch (which in theory is a shame) i.e. if bolatelli was the best footballer in the world united wouldn't sign him as what he is like as a person

i feel pogba has had his chance which is a shame! what do you think eds? {Ed007's Note - I can't see him returning to Utd. I rely on you guys to keep me up to date with up and coming youth players at Utd and I hadn't seen much of Pogba at all until his move to Italy. I can certainly see why most of you heaped so much praise on him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Best player to walk through the ranks since scholes IMO and should have been thrown in despite what many in here thought.

Fair enough Fresh mate. We all need to keep hold of hope. But I just don't see him ever returning. I expect him to stay at Juve for another couple of years at which point he'll either move to one of PSG or Monaco or he'll head to Spain with Real Madrid. I don't see him returning to England and if he did I can only see him going to City unfortunately.

I think we need to learn our lessons with Pogba.

First off we need to be giving minutes to exceptional lads in our academy. We may need to trim the sqaud in order to do that. But ultimately we don't need players who aren't good enough or players who offer very little taking playing time away from talented young lads who could be special.

Secondly I think its madness that we only give these young players like Pogba and Januzaj a three year contract upon joining our academy. At the end of the day we've gone to a lot of trouble to bring these lads in, its obvious that they are going to take a year or two before they are going to be ready for the first team. At which point they only have a year left on their contract and we get stuck in this awful position.

I understand why the club maybe don't wanna give then a long term contract in case they don't turn out to be all that. But maybe a three year deal with a two year option for us to automatically extend it would be a better idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy
under 18 you can only sign a three year contract

Cheers Jred, I actually remembered that after I posted last night.

I think we need to do more when they turn 18 to give them a longer contract. Even if that means lining the pockets of a few agents.

Apparently Pogbas agent got 5m for getting him to sign for Juve, I say apparently as no ones knows exactly how much he got. But one thing is for sure, Juve gave the agent more money than we were prepared to give him.

The result being that we lose Pogba to Juve where he's now valued at over 20m and we spend 27m on Fellaini.

If we just gave Pogbas agent the 5m Juve supposedly gave him than we would be 22m better off and have Pogba playing for us week in week out instead of Fellaini.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but nothing can be done over Pogba now. But knowing what we know now would you rather us give Januzajs agent 5m and get him tied down to a 5/6 year contract or do we want to spend another 25m on a player who probably won't be as good?

Agree0 Disagree0

I know i'd rather tie him down now. Even if things didn't work out for the lad I could see his sell on value would being more than that as he is quality. But the loss of Pogba was a big deal and I know he would have been immense for us if he was given the chance.
Paying Pogba's agent 5 million and giving him game time would have been a tricky situation. We are known to dislike dealing with greedy agents so that would have been the biggest stumbling block. That and Pogba's lack of patience.
If Pogba was still at united now he would be getting game time.

Whilst he is a good player, I hope we never go back for him. IMO he is trouble and as Ed02 has pointed him leaving had nothing to do playing time.

I agree with syd he will go where the money is and we will never be where the most money is. City, chelsea, monaco, PSG is where he will end up. Does Anelka ring a bell for anyone?

I see Rooney has actually said he wanted to leave because SAF played him in midfield according to the Guardian heres a quote if Eds don't mind

"Asked whether he had raised his concerns with the relevant people at Old Trafford, Rooney opened his arms to show his exasperation and smiled knowingly. "Yeah, and …" That was the meeting at which he apparently told Ferguson he might leave and an already strained relationship was fractured. Ferguson dropped Rooney from his team and, to the player's dismay, publicised what had been said during a live television interview, describing it as a verbal transfer request."

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So where's the quote that says he wanted to leave mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

Give it a break, Rooney has been our best player and I have been against us selling him all along.
So why bring this up now, the last thing we need is for Rooney to be sold, we will be in relegation spot without his goals so far!

My Italian mate has been on at me to look at a young Brazilian lad called Allan currently playing for Udinese.

I've looked up about as much as I can about him, his stats seem interesting. They show him to be a solid passer, who atempts many dribbles from midfield, and he puts in a lot of tackles and interceptions. He could be someone who could maybe add some drive to our midfield.

So i'll start watching him and see what he's like. I was just wondering whether anyone on here has watched much of him, and if so what they think of him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Allan is a player I've had my eye on ever since he moved to Udinese last season.

Technically speaking, he is a superb player. He likes to get his head down and dribble past players which is something we lack in our midfield atm.

Unfortunately, he tends to be dispossessed more often than a central midfielder should and could be hazardous. And his passing in the final third isn't the best.

If I was to compare him to a player, it would be to Chelsea's Oscar.

He is neither a great tackler nor a great interceptor but he works extremely hard and covers a lot of ground. And his best attribute, imo, is his long range passing. He hits 30 yards passes and switches play at will.

All in all, I don't think he is creative enough to be a number 10 but if he can sort out his decision making in midfield and know when to dribble and when to pass, he would become a world class player

Cheers Mick, I thought you'd probably know abit about him. It seems if I don't know about a player then you do. I think we should be part of Moyes new scouting set up. Between us we'd know about most players of interest anywhere in the world. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps you guys should send In your CVS, I reckon the Eds would give you a reference.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well what's comforting is that we can't do a worst job than the current scouting team now can we?

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy is your mate champ manager?

Mick the red fireman, I doubt he plays games like that but its not completely out the question. But he was always more of an out doors kinda guy.

I have several friends from different countries due to me spending several years of my youth living abroad and going to an international school. We were all brought together by our love of the beautiful game and we all adopted each others teams. that's why I have a fondness for Juve, Dortmund, Ajax and River Plate.

But this does mean that I have several friends dotted around the world who obviously watch a lot of their own league football. Then when we talk we speak about up and coming players in our own leagues. That where I get tips on players from.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy, you don't need to justify yourself to anyone on here, mate.

At least you make an effort, rather than just come on bitching and moaning about who we haven't signed this week.

The mist has cleared from before my eyes and I can now see why for the past 4 years we haven't bought any midfielders. Fergie had a master plan. If things hadn't conspired against him we would now have a midfield of Pogba Morrison and Januzaj. That would be the most exciting young midfield in Europe. As with everything Fergie did there was always a master plan behind it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Johnny - I'd believe that if we hadn't been in for Moura, Sneijder, Hazard, Nasri, Thiago, Strootman, Sanchez, etc, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Master plan!

Who thinks Lingard, Henriquez and Michael Keane will break through 1st team next season? That's 5 new youngsters including Zaha and Adnan already capped a little bit of 1st team football. I'm excited to see how Zaha and Adnan will fit into the first team this season, but surely next season will have much more to watch and be excited about! Hope Varela gets his loan spell sooner and gets his chance next season too.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Henriquez is 2 years away from being ready to be starter and is more likely going to be used as cover for Van Persie if Chicha decides to move ( and who could blame him ).

Lingard needs a premier league loan ( hopefully in the second half of the season ) and should be ready to be a first team player, but not a starter.

Michael Keane did great at Leicester and needs a premier league loan, hopefully in January since Rio is still here for cover, and with Evans, vidic, Jones and Smalling, we don't lack defenders.

Zaha and Adnan should already be first teamers and replace Valencia and Young in the squad.

Chris the REDman,

Whilst I fully appreciate my reply to Steviek's post wasn't strictly on point it was obviously a loose connection to what is going on at your club.

You are grabbing at any little thing that may shine a light at the end of a tunnel.

You are not as a club in a great place, a new manager who is setting nothing alight and a team that has been playing poorly for some considerable time. Your only acquisition in the summer an over priced clumsy midfielder when you were crying out for so much more.

Like I said before the players like Herrera and Garay that you seem interested are not from the top drawer either. Should players like Bender or Gundogan become available do you really believe you will be top of the pile to get them.

I may say things with an edge but always with a truth to it and seriously try and improve your own banter mate it is genuinely terrible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are u talking about Chelsea?

Agree0 Disagree0

And yet despite all this your club spent all summer openly courting one of our players and came to play at Old Trafford this season too afraid to play with anyone up front?

Your manager leaves your best player from the last 2 seasons out of the team, alienates others and you've still not produced any youth team players of note.

I'd be more concerned about the goings on at your own club instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marcellus

I agree we might not be in the bast place right now but the difference between your club and ours is immense.

1. Tradition
2. Will not need 500 million in player acquisitions to win a trophy
3. We are what you call the top fo the food chain and a self sustainable business model where you are fed by one man.
4. We might not win ay trophies but with 3 players we will be back where we have been for so long.
5. Wearing a united shirt is a different honor to a chelsea shirt.
6. Check out what most players say when they mention the giants of europe its always united, barca, rm and I never see a chelsea comment.
7. Granted you will pay more in wages and fees but that is not always the biggest driver.
8.Enjoy our off year as it might be while before you wee another one.

Some weird, hopefully just coincidental trivia

In 1988 Liverpool won the league by 9 points.
In 1989 Liverpool had the title snatched from their grasp by a last minute goal.
In 1990 Liverpool strolled to yet another league title.
Liverpool then replaced their successful Scottish manager with another Scottish manager.

In 2011 we won the league by 9 points.
In 2012 we had the title snatched from their grasp by a last minute goal.
In 2013 we strolled to yet another league title.
We've replaced our Scottish manager with another Scottish manager.

Sulei {Ed007's Note - LFC replaced a Scottish ex-Celtic player (KD) with a Scottish ex-Rangers player (GS) and Utd have replaced a Scottish ex-Rangers player (AF) with a Scottish ex-Celtic player (DM).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So what your saying is we are going to go through the next 20 odd years without a league title :(

Agree0 Disagree0

That is incredible Sulei.

With Moyes in charge, there is every possibility!
