Not suprised were currently losing, we've been grinding out results lately.

Why no Scholes and but Giggs in midfield. Its plain to see at what an impact Scholes has had upon his return. Give the ball away Giggs. He is far better coming off the bench than starting.

Alot of people were talking that the title was ours, how Man City were on a downwards spiral.

I can't understand why Rafael isn't playing. He has been playing really well recently.

Also i think we need another forward. Rooney is the only consistant forward we have. Wellbeck and Hernandez are still too young and unfortunately he has been injured in pre season and then again during the season so has not been able to re capture his form.

Lets all hope we do actually re-invest in the squad this summer a we can't rely on has beens and the potential of our younger players to win trophies.

We aren't guarenteed to reinvest as the Glazers look to float us or potentially float us. A healther bank balance would look better to potential investors/buyers than the loss of the millions it would cost to but players in the summer, Although maybe the brand name of Man Utd will count alot?

Ed's can you shed some light on the stock floatation of the club and if infact if we spend e'g £50-70 million would it have a negative impact to potential investors.

Also ive been told that General motors will take over from Audi in summer as one of our sponsorships (mates aunty is hospitality manager at Man Utdm she will no longer get here 20% discount on new Audis....shame), Mad Hatter {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware it would matter little really to any potential flotation.}

I am glad you lot are not over reacting to our defeat. According to Sydney that was the worst performance he has seen in 28 years. Well he must have a very short memory. Yesterday Fergie was the greatest thing since sliced bread now he has lost the plot. Lets face it it was just one of those nights when the team for some reason doesn't kick into gear. I agree that tactically we thought we could get away with playing a weaker team against Wigan. But I understand completely Fergie taking Rooney off as he was having a bad game and didn't close down for the goal. I think sir Alex was just giving him a little nudge for the run in. Support was absolutely magnificent tonight which is more than can be said for some on here who are willing to give the league to City because we have lost one game. I AM KLOOT

Honestly, always the same on this site. One minute everyone is happy, then we lose one game and it's the worst game everyone has ever seen, and the team needs a complete overhaul.

Why doesn't everyone just calm down and remember that this happens 4 or 5 times a year, your response is always the same, and the outcome is often the same as well. SAF sorts it out. Last time, 3-2 at OT, losing to Blackburn - we kept a load of clean sheets after that..

It's fine.

This is going to sound strange to some people but maybe losing tonight could be a good thing. I dont know if the players were complacent what with the 8 point lead but tonight reminded me of our european games (i.e people/press made out it was a easy group/games). I agree about giggs in midfield and its time fergie only used him coming off the bench. Although city are away in there next two games I expect them to win so we need to do the same. Little pea is suffering from not getting through balls behind the defence as he cant play facing his own goal/holding it up. He was never going to get space against wigans formation. If we dont get a creative midfielder we may as well sell him as like owen in his pomp his qualities are pace and finishing. 37 Years experience tells me we are better when the chips are down. Well, the entire world knows but Fergie doesn't, everybody saw but Fergie doesn't, but what!?

Giggs- CM?

3-5-2 and we play with Giggs and Carrick? Wow, Deja Vu(Bilbao and Barcelona)...

Definetely I will not blame Pogba if he wants to go, he will be rigth he must keep his career on cause if Giggs and Schooles again next season he won't play AGAIN.

The worst subs so far this season we're made today!

I hope we get back on track on the weekend and SAF needs to reflect alot!

Giggs again had a poor game in the middle, and everybody is shouting we should of played pogba we should of played clevs but let's have a look at it
Scholes , not the player he was 10 year ago but still arguable our best cm , can't play every game tho,
Clevs, everybody's great hope ,only played a hand full of games and returning from injury, missed more games this year than played.
Pogba, looks a great prospect but yet to start a first team game for united
Fletcher, good at what he does but concers about his health.
Anderson, still got a lot of questions to answer one of which is can he stay fit
Carrick , top player underrated by a lot of people but does his job very well

The question isn't why did fergy pick giggs but why have we let our cm get so bad

In the long run, may be a blessing this result, Fergy is not stupid... And surely now can see that determination and energy is killing us in midfield. Giggs in a 2 man midfield is simply NOT AN OPTION. Especially with Valencia hugging the touch line.

Now need a result at the council ground, don't want Citeh within a win on last day of season. Never do things the easy way...

To add what I said earlier, its terrible that our midfield doesn't really tick unless Scholes plays. Its time to get both Modric and a top attacking midfielder like Hazard. If they were bought then they'd be the best signings we have made for a long while. I do believe that there are funds there, now is the time to spend them to maximise our chances next year in all competitions. 2 good signings and we will be right up there in Europe.

Liverpool-8th in the league,30+ points off the top yet on the brink of a cup double.

Manc Utd-top of the table, true ''quality'' showing tonight, will probably show for the next few games and would be lucky to lose by less then 5 in the next Manc derby. Gap doesnt look that big right now does it?

Football really is a funny old game.
PS to the idiots saying Giggs is turnip, even as a Liverpool supporter you gotta respect the man. Even at 38 still a fantastic player and had one bad game in 1000 tonight.

We lost to the better team. But giggs in mid field was awful. I honestly think a stronger number two would help us massively in these instances. Jones was poor which was a worry too. Also Hernandez is way off the boil. But 5 points ahead and long way to go with three home games in there!

Giggs needs to retire, he's pants now. He was a brilliant player and will always be a club legend and maybe even manager. But he's a liability in the centre of the park.

SAF got his team wrong today, if Scholes hadnt played at QPR we wouldn't have had a problem, but it is unbelievable that our best CM is still Scholes. Love the guy, good to bring him back as he is still quality, but whats that saying about our CM's? Anderson blows hot and cold, Giggs as mentioned above is trousers and Carrick isnt the player he used to be.

Really hope the CM issue is addressed in the summer as a main priority. Cant hack seeing us getting the run around by Wigan, credit due though they really wanted the win.

Playing Carrick & Giggs in the centre is a disaster. Carrick needs to be made look good and Giggs does not have the legs anymore.

Back to the Carrick debate...... he is crap full stop.

We need to sign players that control midfield and can put themselves about a bit.

First of all, well done Wigan, who were undoubtedly the better team. How Giggs remained on the field is beyond me. I was also a little bothered by Young being taken off for Cleverley. As much as I think Cleverley is a wonderful player, I don't think he was the person to bring on in a high pressure game. Hernandez was ineffective, which has been a concerning trend of late. Nani should have been introduced earlier, and Rooney should be kept on the field as long as he's fit in my opinion.

Anyway, not too many positives to take from the game. Just highlights how much United struggle in the center of the field without Scholes controlling the game.

Got to say, what a terrible terrible performance. An absolute disagree! We were over ran in midfield by relegation candidates who we really didn't show enough respect. How he hasn't learnt not to play Giggs in midfield I will never know. In fairness to Wigan they were great.

We need investment, please bring us a Hazard, or an Eriksen etc. Would like to say though, all the Nani haters who have wanted him sold were all desperate for him to come off of the bench because he could make the difference. So fickle!

Again Pogba has to sit there and watch utter custard in the middle of the pitch... what must he be thinking... i know there are those people who think that if he were to sign then he would play, but by not playing him we are playing a weaker team and it shows......

carrick is too slow to play against high tempo teams, but people have been including him in their team for next season.....how many times was he robbed...?
giggs..nothing said the better as that is what he offers in the middle... NOTHING....
tatics all wrong....

raf should have played..... clevs, pogba & jones in the middle with rooney up top flanked by nani and vel....... but what do i know..

fergie needs to get this sorted or city will steal it and that would be a massive blow not just for this title but for the coming years as well..

Worst performance I have seen as a United supporter for 28 years. We are so lucky our next two games are at home. They have now become 'must win' games. How did Giggs stay on the pitch with Young, Rooney & Hernandez going off? Why did he start in midfield ahead of Cleverley, Pogba or Scholes? I would have rather played Scholes tonight and rested him on Sunday. This was always going to be the more difficult game out of the two. Oh well goodnight!

They don't need to worry though because they will still pick up their hefty wage packets while we will still get behind them on Sunday.

Very well beating today! The best team won the game and was Wigan.

SAF used his subs to beat a team that is on the relegation fight, again SAF doing a very poor scout of the opponent. We're outplayed by Wigan!

Total incompetence and tactical ineptitude, we should ask who decided the tempo, the tactics and the selection, was it SAF or Phelan? Someone set the team up at the beginning playing Giggs in central midfield which we can all see is utterly wrong, why? It set the tone for the whole game. Not only did we lose at Wigan, City won and also sorted the goal difference in their favour.
We just let City back in with shocking tactics and poor team selection. Our team is weak and we know we have difficulty creating and scoring in tight games, but how did we make it a tight game against Wigan where we struggled to control the game? Wigan not Barca , Wigan. It is no good blaming the referee, the blame lies at SAFs door or is it Phelan?
When those who come on here and say we don’t need quality take a good look at that tonight. Then lets ask who is the player with the best chance we had to score a goal, Rooney. For some reason he is taken off, probably because he didn’t cover Giggs in midfield enough. Somehow Giggs plays 95 minutes. A 38 year old playing poorly gets 95 minutes. What have we got left to score if Rooney is not on his game? Welbeck and Hernandez , but aren’t they world class to some people on here?
Arrogance , sheer arrogance of those who just said we will just win the next three games.

Giggs in central midfield, very dangerous for us. Rooney will have to drop deeper. Wigan will no doubt dominate midfield, Hernandez will struggle up on his own.

I think that it'll look something like this

-----------De Gea---------
-Rafa-Small-Jones-Evra-
-Toni-Carrick-Giggs-Young-
--------Roon-----------
------------Chica----------

I'd like to see Cleverley get the start if he's fit, but i think Fergie will opt for Carrick and Giggs to hold down the midfield. What do you all think? I also can't find who all is match fit. If Nani is fit he may get the start, but i think Young has been doing well recently and should get the start.

Ignorant, rude, a disgusting show of petulance during his interview. And an absolute dud manager on top of all that. A little fun here, who do all you guys, regulars, ed's and all expect to see as the starting line up for the 2012/13 season where we will hoping to win the EPL as well as the CL etc. Here is my first team for what its worth:

_______________De Gea
Rafael____Ferdinand____Vidic____Evra
Valencia___Modric_____Carrick___Young
_______________Rooney
______________Chicharito

I would like to see a left back in there, but i doubt it, and i would also like to see Rodriguez in there, but if anything Gaitan could get in there as could Clyne and van Wolfswinkel. If money is tight you'd have to go for similar things to me i think, van Wolfswinkel, Clyne, Hoilett and Modric would be good.

What about you guys?

AV7 {Ed004's Note - I have no idea who we will sign and there is no point as second guessing what SAF is going to do at times though I am hoping he spends money to improve our first team. A left back, atleast one midfielder depending on out goings, a left winger and either a cam or a striker. As I think De Gea, Rafael, Smalling, LB, Vidic, Cleverley, CM Valencia, LM and Rooney, CAM/ST are all extremely good players some are world class and some will be. They just need people of higher quality beside them. Would love to see Izaguirre/Cissoko, Martinez, Rodriguez/Hazard and Higuain}

11 Apr 2012 14:25:58
The Blackburn vs Liverpool match has reiterated what i have been saying on here for the past couple of weeks about Hoilett. People have said Hazard etc, but i think they would use the club, Hazard especially. Every week he says he wants to play for this club, then that one, just not the guy we need - although don't get me wrong, i'd be pleased if we signed someone quality like him (i.e. Rodriguez who i really like). Hoilett though would respect the club, he is no doubt looking to step up from Blackburn and after seeing how well Jones has done, i am sure he would step up and be a good player for us who would replace Park for nothing. I'm not saying that he is a starter, but he would be a good squad player. Having Hoilett, Nani, Young and Valencia would be great.

Nevertheless, i'd rather have Rodriguez, but we can't always have what we want so Hoilett is a good plan B. The others i want are Clyne, Modric and van Wolfswinkel who i think would score us a hat full of goals for us once he finds his feet. All in all i would say that he is a better player overall than Huntelaar.

AV7 {Ed001's Note - surely the Liverpool game just showed he is nowhere near good enough for United? He was awful yesterday.}

I have not included ronaldo and messi etc. As they are current players in their primes and aren't yet considered legends as the others are. Right so you have to think if the best in your opinion like this.
1. Best goalscorer
2. Best skill
3. Best workrate
4. Best passer
5. Best all round player
Take these 5 attributes and add any you feel necessary and them make your judgment on who's the best and explain why.

i dont know why but im slightly worried about tonight, ive just got a nagging feeling were going to underestimate wigan,i hope im wrong.im also hoping moses doesnt play because he'll have the beating of evra if he attacks him everytime, although when ive seen him his final ball is usually wasted,i know he wont but id be tempted to play fabio instead of evra to deal with moses pace.my team would be:

De Gea,Rafael,Evans,Rio,Fabio
Toni Scholes Carrick Nani
Rooney Hernandez

but i think it will be:

De Gea, Rafael,Evans,Rio,Evra
Toni,Cleverley,Carrick,Nani
Welbeck Rooney

Okay, can people just drop the Davies issue and the interview issue for what happened with Liverpool. We've all got our own opinions on the matter which is fine but I can see this turning into a similar situation to the Suarez/Evra arguments we had on here every 5 seconds.

Get over it, it happened.

I know this might not get posted because of how insensitive the scousers are, but what is the big problem with what Alan Davies said? I fully agree with him {Ed001's Note - because it showed a lack of consideration for others. Personally I don't see it as a big issue, I disagreed with what he said and that's the end of it for me. It would be the same, in my opinion, no matter which club had suffered the loss of fans, if Bradford say to me we would like not to have to play on the anniversary of their fire, then that is enough for me to say ok, don't play on the date. It is about respecting others wishes, the world is in such a state because no one respects others, but expects their own feelings to be respected. It has to work both ways.}

GDS
" I am guessing Smithy never even saw the interview, just wanted to abuse me for an opinion. Lost all respect for you Smithy."
Haha I did see the interview, I recorded the match and viewed the interviews when I got home, and was shocked to hear what they were asking him, fair play to Brad he handled it very well, but for you to turn this into Liverpool playing the victim is stupid. The only person I can see playing the victim out of me and you is you with your "Eds have LFC bias" and your crying and moaning.
Oh and stop with this "first thing he did was come on a Man United banter site". No I watched the TV for a bit then read the LFC site and on here just before going to bed, wasn't going to post but felt I needed to say something.
Most people on here know I'm honest, give my opinion don't go looking for an argument but I felt the need to tell you how ridiculous I felt your comments were.
Don't respect me I don't care, the feeling is mutual.

Red Man i do agree we need two quality first team players in the summer. But it seems to me that you think that we can only get quality for thirty million pounds. Vidic and Evra only cost twelve million between the two of them. Vidic is one of our few world class players and Evra was until two seasons ago. It depends on what we have to spend, what happens with Fletcher and Pogba, what the boss thinks of Petrucci, who leaves up front. Personally i'd be happy with Cissoko, Strootman, James Rodriguez and Wolfswinkel and Clyne. Not sure on Wolfswinkel but seems a realistic option.

I haven't read the article but The Times have written that Pogba deal is no closer and a decision is unlikely until the end of the season. Sounds like news out of no news really but have there been any changes in the situation that you know about Ed? Thanks. {Ed004's Note - I have heard nothing new}

think messi needs to move to epl to be a true great though, seems to be looking to easy for him, come to the epl, to ot and become a true legend we gave the world ronaldo, imagine what we could do with you

Lorcan

I hate this notion that you have to play in the Premier League to be considered a 'true great'. Maradona, Fat Ronaldo, Pele, Di Stefano, Puskas and Garrincha never played in the English Football League or Premier League, yet are considered the greatest players of all time. Why is it any different for Messi?

Forget the expensive players you mention to sign for Utd,SAF goes for hidden stars and potential, those whom top clubs dnt expect to shine.........i believe we will bring IN ~ Left Back- Izaguire from Celtic .....Right Back - Nathaniel Clyne ......Defensive Midfielder - M'Villa or Fellaine ......Attacking Midfielder .....Michu or Dempesy with Nzonzi being an understudy to one of the above ......Left Winger - Hoillet and a Striker - Ricky Van Wolfswinkel....

Home from the game not to long ago, and read the LFC site and then had a quick flick on here to see what was going on, and GDS you are an absaloute disgrace. How you can't see how asking a question about somebody's 5 year old son who has just died is wrong is beyond belief. You are a knob and clearly have no morals. You have shown yourself up to be a bellend and I can't believe how bias and bitter one person can be.

I'm about to share to posts that I have just read on the Liverpool site with you guys. Bare in mind Liverpool have just scraped a win against a relegation side...

"Shelvey was outstanding! Once he polishes up on his shooting, he'll be top-notch...he can play in the hole a-la Kaka!"

and...

"Might be a bit out there but I think Agger could be our version of Yaya Toure.

Big, strong, composed and got a shot on him."

I don't think I need to say anything else, good night guys.

The Moon.
