apparently liverpool have had a bid for gaston ramirez accepted, so looks like he wont be coming to utd.

still hoping for a striker cm and a lb.

According to reports, we've signed Ramirez 8 times and bid for him about 20. It means nothing mate, he won't be coming to Liverpool.

many kept recommending him on the forum.

TRUMORS

Agree0 Disagree0

Puzzled, he would be a decent buy for Liverpool, but I would be disappointed if we signed him. Even City wanted him as a bench warmer to replace Adam Johnson, but refused to pay what Bologna wanted. Decent player, but I would want better personally.

Not convinced he will sign for Liverpool, but it wouldn't surprise me. After all the EPL is better than Serie B.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

TRUMORS, fair play mate but not sure many would be happy with Ramires replacing Nani. I would be fuming if he did. It would make us a weaker team. Hazard, Moura, Rodriguez yes, Ramires NOOOOOOOOOO.

This thing about arsenal won't sell to us is such crap wenger and fergie have become really good friends. This deal is all but done its his bloody agent again holding things up and van gaal won't allow him to go for medical on tues as city have it booked tomorrow. Rodwell is gutted united didn't go for him and it was a choice between city and spurs and guess who got his way ?? Yes his agent ! There will be one more signing I'm told and that is a CM. that is we're fergie was yesterday.cant find out who it is but it's going to cost €25m. In one of the Irish Sunday papers today they'd a section bout this season and predictions. Out of 7 of the football writers who would include aldridge Nicholas palmer and irwin and 5/7 predict united to win.

It's nearly the start of the new season at last ! There are rumours that RVP is coming to us, but then again Hazard, and Moura were "done deals". I would like to see RVP play our first game against Everton. All I want to know is who do you want/think will also be starting that game ? For me RVP if not Lewandowski and Witsel. Witsel is what we need world class player we need to sign him before Madrid. Ed's anyone elses thoughts ?

apart from the 4-3 win over hannover (which are deffence didnt play well) we had only scored 3 goals in 5 games and that was against pretty weak commpetition apart from barca and with rooney playing a more behind the striker role with welbeck who doesnt score enough goals up front thats why we need to sign a top quality striker like lorrente, rvp or levwendoski preferably not rvp because the other 2 arent injury prone and there both quite young.

looking forward to the new season starting next week! while the build-up is going on, here is something i've noticed about the posters on these MANCHESTER UNITED pages...

Liverpool fans - about 90% of their posts are pathetic attempts to annoy us and undermine us. they're just so arrogant and hostile at times.

Chelsea/Man city fans - I very rarely see them on here? i'm not sure how many there are on their own pages but on here it seems very quiet.

Arsenal fans - from the ones I can remember, and I may be wrong. but they all seem to be 'nice'. Or come on and wish us well and good luck and even if i don't agree with their posts, they're not bitter or moronic!

just thought i'd share that view with you as i'm now so bored without the prem!

United really need to buy players. Was lookin at the squad and there is a lot of deadwood to get rid of.

Evra:- days are gone
jones:- can't defend
fletcher:-sick
Anderson:-fat
scholes:- way too old
giggs:-see above
berbatoff:-not intrested
nani:-one trick pony
hernandez:-one good season

The truth hurts but what you think. Look forward to your replys.:-). eire red

Believable3 Unbelievable11

Lets not get us started on Liverpool bud....I could really go on all day.

MPez

Agree2 Disagree0

Well I have disagree with most of them I'm afraid. Jones can't defend, have you seen him play? He's only 19 remember. Berbatov is leaving anyway. Scholes was class last season and does a job, he is a legend and to see you put him on that list is a joke. How many seasons has Hernandez had with us? One good season out of 2 makes him deadwood does it?

I know you have an opinion but a 2 word description as to why someone is deadwood is just a bit silly.

GDS

Agree3 Disagree2

To be fair only Hernandez and Jones will be United players after next season. But of a pointless post really. Come back when you can get a top four place like us elite clubs.

Jones can defend
Nani can do more than one trick.
Hernandez still scored 12.

Dylan

Agree2 Disagree0

-JakeW

Agree1 Disagree0

Jones is good but had his injuries and Fergie played him anywhere he could last season.
Nani is good but like Young can be too predictable but on his day is better than Young. Hernandez, too many people slate him and forget that he had 2 bad injuries last season which prevented him from playing and getting form. Although he did manage 12 goals in 36 games. Which is a goal every 3 games from a player that wasn't in form.

Mad Hatter

Agree1 Disagree0

Evra: agreed

Jones: He is 20 years old, still with lots to learn

Fletcher: Looks like he wont play again

Anderson: If he were fat he would not be allowed to play football

Scholes: Still one of the best in the world

Giggs: Looks sloppy

Berbatov: wants 1st team football

Nani: Would get into every other pl team

Hernandez: judge him after next season, you cant say ''one good season'' because technically he has only had one bad season.

Ste-Utd

Agree2 Disagree0

Jones will be class, at CB. Hernandez 1 good season and 1 bad deserves chance, and Nani is a match winner on his day. People forget the games he's won on his own. Agree with the rest. CM needs to be priority.

Boyley

Agree1 Disagree1

Agree with everything you said, we need to buy a striker, cm and lb to win our title back.
MU93

Agree1 Disagree3

You need to calm down, its a team effort.
Evra - U should have seen his pre season
Jones- One of the best better defender in premier league at the age of 19!
Fletcher-I can understand( thats why i think we will definitely get a midfield this season either Sahin or wanyama(wont mind both
Anderson- the boy has his off days, give him this season
Scholes - still legend but we have lots of young player stepping up
Giggs- see above
Berbatoff- guy is class but its unfortunate that we want to play more fast paste game with one two touch and i am certain welbeck will step up this season with Macheda and if I m to understand either RVP or Lewandowski is on there way
Nani- Gives us this edge and any defender wont want to face him and he knows there is Valencia and Young pushing for the spot
Hernandez - the boy does still know how to create that space between any defender just need to get to start scoring and he will be on roll

Kagawa - i have been following the boy for past 2 years.. and u can see it. He is class and i think he will change Saf 442 formation. YOu have got to play him.

Pogba out - Powell in( he has shots like S.gerard and his goals was best goal in league one last season.

So............................
Get behind the team!!

Fergie must know we need to strengthen the midfield, we were found out too often last season, particularly in Europe and Scholes was a desperate measure. RVP would be a welcome addition and would be fantastic with Rooney. Lewandowski can wait for another day. I don't think we should be held to ransom by Tottenham for Modric. We should certainly not go higher than £30m under any circumstances. We can raise funds by selling Berbatov and Nani, who are both surplus to requirements. This is probably Fergies last shout at building a new team before he departs and he needs to be bold, get a top class midfielder in and we'll have a good year. Ps we don't need Baines!!

I might take a lot of grief for this but i really dont want us to sign Van Persie. He's 29 now, He's only had 1 injury free season since he signed for Arsenal. I think the money could be more wisely spent. Stories going around that Arsenal want anywhere between 15-25m. I also think if RVP signed it would get in the way of Welbeck and Hernandez's progress. Could also say the same for Rooney and Kagawa. Id also imagine he'd be on around 10m per season. And what if he signs and him and Rooney end up like Drogba and Torres and cant play together.

So if i had a choice id rather we didnt sign him and put the money towards a LB or a CM.

Dylan

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I agree with the point that RVP is too old and will be too expensive. However i feel like we do need to sign another class striker because Hernandez and Welbeck are not good enough to replace Rooney if he gets injured.

Is Rafael up to the job as right back? I don't think he is yet. Back up maybe, but our defence will be better with vidic back but the three problem areas are left back, right back and a centre back who doesn't get injured as much. Smalling, Jones, Rio nd Evans always have something wrong with them. If they were horses they would be shot! How about promoting a couple of the reserves to see if they can do a job. Has Fryers actually left. He seems to have disappeared up his own bottom!

I would prefer to have seen Wootton given a chance at CB rather than Carrick. Defensively Carrick is poor and gets caught out at CB. When we played Bayern and we were 3-0 up Olic easily pushed him off the ball and scored. Wootton looked fantastic alongside Ferdinand and played with maturity.

We can no longer afford to play players out of position. We have lost to many games before doing this. Hopefully Vidic and Ferdinand will start and Jones and Evans will be fit or nearly fully fit.

Still hoping we add another player or too as I think we could be vulnerable at times if we continue our trend of injury proneness.

Reckon i'll get destroyed with this post, but whatever! After watching City's three at the back this came to my head, using Valencia and Young as deeper wingers, supplying the ball to the more attacking wide men in Nani and Kagawa. Carrick and Cleverly providing a nice buffer between attack and defense. Young and Valencia can also come inside when defending if needed. Also, it's a good way to get nani, valencia, young and kagawa in the same starting XI. Let the hating commence lol!

So the spaces don't work lol...basically Valencia and Young out wide but behind Carrick and Cleverly in the center, with Nani and Kagawa out wide ahead of Carrick and Cleverly. And then Rooney in his natural positions! Sorry eds, you can delete the second post if you want, no point in it being there!

Looks exactly the same, and that formation would be terrible. First of all Rafael isn't a CB so playing him there would be suicidal. Secondly Nani isn't a "central" player. We can't just go and copy other teams' formations and tactics. We have to play with four at the back because our midfield isn't as "defensive" as Man City.

Would just like to start of with commenting how good we played last night after we went 3-1 down. It was a joy to watch. The attacking play was brilliant and I feel we could have had a few more goals last night easily. We missed quite a few sitters.

Now I see a lot of people are questioning the signing of RVP because they are worried what effect that will have on the position Kagawa will be played in. Now I know he played brilliantly in behind Rooney last night, however I think he could still play brilliantly out on the left cutting in. Now I would love to see this attack
Nani______Rooney______Kagawa
___________RVP
The front 4 would have so much creativity and we have proven goal scorers in attack. Nani and Kagawa will both have a huge amount of assists at the end of the season and both Rooney and RVP will have a tonne of goals.
Now for that attack to work we need good attacking fullbacks. I think the right side is sorted out. We can play Valencia against the weakened side because he is brilliant going forward and Rafael can play RB against top teams when they will offer more getting forward. However I do not think we are strong enough at left back. I personally would like to see Baines signed as when he gets forward he has an awesome cross on him and both RVP and Rooney would thrive on his deliveries.
I think the only other signing I would like to see brought in would be someone to help Cleverley dominate against the physical sides in the PL. Now my signing would be either M'Vila or Witsel but atm I think it is more likely we will go for Witsel. Now can anyone on here deny that this wouldn't be an awesome team
____________De Gea
Valencia__Smalling__Vidic___Baines
_________Witsel__Cleverley
Nani_________Rooney_____Kagawa
______________RVP
Playing against the big teams in Europe that don't use wingers Kagawa can easily drop into the midfield along with Rooney to crowd it out and I feel Baines would get enough cover from Kagawa who is a very hard worker.
Now I personally think with just those 3 signings we could win the league and be in a better position to challenge for the league. Now by selling Berbatov and possibly Anderson or Evra the net spend on players would be reduced by a quite a lot.
Also I chose Nani instead of Valencia because it is a fluid attack. Everyone will be interchanging and I feel Valencia might at times limit that movement. However, there were will be games were he would have to play RW imo

Although yesterday was quite an impressive match I still think we need a few more signings.
Evra although he's great at going forward, he seems to forget that he's actually a defender, this could cost us dearly in the big games like it did last season. Think the obvious choice is Baines, especially with him being a dead ball specialist and also at 27 is at the right age to help develop the younger lads like Blackett and Brady, I reckon we could get him for 12 Million.
We definitely need someone in the centre of midfield and with the fast improvement of Cleverly as a playmaker I reckon we need a strong midfield player who can win the ball and play box to box. I was really impressed with Cheick Tiote last season and think he would fit the bill perfectly with a bid of around 10-15 Million. I also like Jack Rodwell but believe he's valued at 20+ Million and will head to City.
Last but least, the obvious one, RVP I think this deal will go down right to transfer deadline day like the Berbatov saga with Berba heading in the other direction and 18 Million, great business for both clubs and both players. So around 50 Million for 3 proven Premiership players that I think would see us secure the title and take us far in Europe.

I thought our attacking play was good last night but we have to realise that the opposition wasn't first class. That said to come back from 3-1 down to win was still a good effort.
I will be sitting in front of the tv and computer today in the hope of some news on RVP but I'm also disappointed that Moura is going to PSG so much for I only want to play for United.

Having watched all the MU pre-season games, I must say that the addition of Kagawa has made our midfield a lot better than last year but we still need to improve it further, if we want to compete with other European clubs, I am sure with Kagawa and Cleverley fit , we will have more creativity and hence more goals, RVP will improve our fire power but would prefer a younger player like James Rodrigues a natural left footer like RVP but with more speed and skill (we have enough right footers). There were two major weaknesses that were exposes once again in our defense as well as attack, our aerial inability to defend as well as score. Vida's comeback will help to some extent, but we need another player, a defender or a midfielder who is very good in the air, in both the boxes, or else it will be the same old story of conceding from set-pieces and not scoring from the crosses provided by our wings, the second being, the ease with which the opposition wings could enter our box on either side and the open spaces that were offered for those runs through the wings could cost us dearly. The most interesting point I liked about this team is their ability to cut through the center of the opposition's defense with ease (Chicha should watch the offside traps), which did not happen most part of last season as we relied mostly on attacks from the wings. I only hope Fergie will come up with the right candidates for the positions that we urgently need to strengthen, wing backs and box to box midfielder. Cirigliano or Mouthino would be an ideal buy for the box to box midfielder, both would be exceptional. They can both tackle, hold on to the ball, track back to defend, intercept passes and pass well (long as well as short passes) to the flanks or through the center. Just a week to go, looking forward to see what Gill meant by "we are not sitting on our backsides doing nothing" ! - Fred

Of play, but they can all score goals as well as pull
The strings. If he came in, and we made him a superstar
Madrid or barca would come straight in and we'd lose him
As he's already said madrid is his dream.

Arsenal fan here. it seems that rvp is on his way to ur team. However, other then Rooney, imo Kagawa will b ur best player (pure class). So if u sign rvp, where does Kagawa fit in? If rvp is striker, with rooney behind him, nani/young/val sharing the wing spots and ur CM/DM in the middle....surely Fergie is not going to play Kagawa in the box to box role, wat a waste! Also, with Rooney and RVP both 90 minute players, when will Welbeck and Hernandez ever gey a chance?

I cant understand the signing.

Kagawa played in that role for the majority of the game and was outstanding... Him and Cleverley ran the show, he looked very similar to the way Modric plays but has more threat and penetration in going through the opposition defence

Been visiting this site for a long time now but this is only my first post (great site!)

.. sorry if this is an obvious point to make but do we even need RVP? Although he is clearly a world class player and would walk into most of the top teams in Europe.. WE HAVE STRIKERS!!! What would happen to Welback and Hernandez if RVP was to come? Both young and developing STRIKERS. Surely the arrival of RVP would hinder both of their development, in particular Welbeck's as he has so much promise. I would hate to see such talent fade away on the becn while RVP has a couple of successful years at his peak and then retires..

Van Persie is 29 years old... he will only have 2 or 3 years at his peak...

WHY DONT WE SPEND THE MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT ACTUALLY NEEDS FIXING? ****THE MIDFIELD****

You know what they say, 'why fix something if its not broken?' Our strike force scored loads of goals last season, it was our midfield that got found wanting on numerous occassions and cost us that title number 20.

We cannot rely on Scholes anymore, Anderson needs to be replaced by a top class prospect. I just dont understand why we won't go all out to buy a young prospect like Martinez or Moura.. It would have fixed the problem that actually needs fixing!

So, do we actually need RVP?

Yes we do need RVP. we lost the EPL on goal difference if u remember. We need goals and RVP will give us that. T45

Wellbeck is still developing, Hernandez had a very iffy 2nd season. You don't turn down the chance to sign a proven PL talent like Van Persie. His signing would help Welbeck develop further. AJH

We tried to buy moura and had the deal sewn up then he chose psg.

I don't think we need rvp as such but how can you turn down such a quality player. I have Liverpool fans as mates who are hoping beyond hope we don't get rvp because he would make us so scary. If you are a centre half and you are marking rvp and rooney, would you be expecting a harder game than Rooney and Welbeck?

GDS {Ed002's Note - The deal for Moura was never sewn up.}

Our midfield needs a tough tackling box2box midfielder to add a little steel to the midfield. I think Cleverley and Kagawa proved last night that they can occupy the midfield very well. Add Scholes, Carrick & Giggs to that and we will be fine.

Kagawa - Cleverley - Witsel? - Carrick - Scholes - Giggs.

Then a youth midfield of:

Petrucci - Tunners - Powell - Daehli

Sydney!

Ed,

I must have misunderstood what him and his agent said then, I thought they said the contract was written up and ready to be signed but then psg came in with a bigger offer and he liked their 'project'!

i was thinking than the way we attacked Hanover with pace and movement than if rvp joins and the way than played in CM role than the line up could be this when we played next monday

I know we look like the only team in for RVP, but we were for Lucas too, don't get too excited until he has signed, otherwise you may be very disappointed as per with big transfers! It happened with Modric, Sneijder, Nasri and Lucas.

Of course we need another striker. But I'll buy lindawski instead of rvp. This will not hinder welbeck and chicharito. It should actually motivate them more and make them better players. Competition is good.

Heard we've got RVP for 25mil ? .. So maybe we now can work on getting a centre mid. If real pull out of the modric deal spurs will be flapping.. I reckon we will get him as their are no others interested as of yet. With kagawa, RVP and modric.. That shows we mean business and want that 20!
