Now i quite often post ideas about how were could improve the team and different tactics or players we could bring in to improve ourselves so here i go again. lol.

I started with how could we improve the team with no more than 3 signings and i quite suprised myself with the outcome.

I decided not to buy a traditional Defensive midfielder or an Attacking midfielder nor a Striker or a Left Back all of which are positions i would normally regard as in need of strengthening.

I decided to buy a Deep lying playmaker a Left winger/forward and a Centre back. I can just imagine your confused expressions right now, so let me explain.

I think Jan Vertonghen is a must sign as he can cover for our injured captain and lead the youngsters, also he can provide cover at left back and put Evra under pressure for his place thus making him up his game. Evra has only just turned 30 and hasn't lost his pace so the only reason for his decline is laziness due to the fact that he doesn't have to compete for his place. So Vertonghen has improved the centre and the left hand side of our defence, he can also play in midfield along with Jones so there isn't any need to sign a specialist DM as in a year or two hopefully we'll have Pogba on hand. Besides playing the new formation would rely on pocession of the ball and defending space rather than chasing the ball like a terrier in the park. So we need clever players who can keep the ball rather than battlers who'll fight for it, and on the odd occasion we do need such a player we'd have two in the squad who can do it.

The next position we need someone is a Deep lying playmaker, someone who has great passing and movement but is disaplined and can hold there position thus giving the team shape and a platform from which to build. In an ideal world this player would be Javi Martinez but do we have the money? for what else i have planned i doubt we'd have the money for both so for this position i'd go for Kevin Strootman, he's young and amazingly talented and would work really well with Cleverley IMO. A midfield selection of Cleverley Strootman Carrick Pogba with Jones and Vertonghen as more defensive back up would be more than good enough.

I've saved the best for last, Left wing. I'd sign Angel di Maria. He's having a contract dispute with Real atm and apparently Perez was never that keen on him anyway, they would be willing to move him on in order to rasie funds for his replacement Neymar. With di Maria and Nani wide with Young playing just behind Rooney would be devastating, the movement and qualitity of those front four would terrorise any defence. Other options for left wing would be Gaitan or Shaqiri but neither have the qualitity of di Maria.

we could have either this:

____Cleverley__Strootman____
_Nani_____Young____di Maria_
_________Rooney___________

OR

_____Cleverley__Martinez______
_Nani______Young_____Shaqiri_
__________Rooney___________

personally i prefer the first one as i feel it's much more attacking and would frighten anyone the second is better defensivly and IMO has too many players who struggle with consistancy.

let me know what you think.

Was just reading on the rumours page that we have agreed terms with Lille for Eden Hazard. Probably not true, but I hope it is. Would love to see him here, it would be great to see a team like this.

De Gea

Rafael Smalling Evans Fryers/Fabio

Jones/Tunnicliffe

Morrison Cleverly

Hazard Rooney Nani

With Hazard, Rooney, Nani and Morrison all switching position, giving any team in the world a nightmare. This would be in a few years time though.

well well well...

as s**t as we have been at times so far this season..(no hiding this)... come the end of next weekend and leading into the christmas period.. the only thing keeping us from the top of the table could be a goal difference of 10........

we then manage to get a couple of players back. maybe even get the odd christmas wish and 2 new players in jan....

then who knows...... the only really disappointment at this stage is going out of the cl.......

At last city have been beaten and this means theoritically title is in our hands.
All we need now are 2/3 new players and then we can make a charge for the title.

Well done Chelski, that helps a bit. Just need the gooners to keep their form up at the weekend and that will really tighten things up a bit.
Really need a couple of good performances in West London the next couple of games, not easy games but certainly winnable ones.
Can we just wrap Carrick and Jones up in cotton wool until the games as by god we need them.

I see Sydney talking rubbish on here as usual about the LB situation.
He would sign anyone from around the world with a foreign sounding name none of which have proved they can play in the EPL.
Why don't we go down the M62 and pick up Baines for a decent fee from a skint Everton.
He knows the league, is a good defender and what left back can cross the ball as well as him, and his set pieces are first class too, fed up of our corners hitting the first defender or free kicks hitting the wall.
While we are there let's have Rodwell and Fellani as well or even Barkley.
Simples!!

Red Daz. {Ed025's Note - hey daz!!!...keep your hands off ...none of them are for sale....if you like our players so much...buy a blue scarf and come and join the peoples club!

1. Sneijder will not even be considered never mind enquirer about.

2. All these hazard rumours - why would we blast 40m on a winger!

3. I'd be surprised if fergie succeeds with any signings in January, as there is absolutely zero Market value.

I think we need three or four players, I said so ages ago and I stand by that comment. For creative mid, Mario Gotze as I said all summer or Marvin Martin. For defensive mid, Javi Martinez just as I have said a lot recently and for a forward Edinson Cavani, or maybe even Drogba for a couple of seasons because he would offer a different kind of play. And for a left back, I would say Schmelzer or Jordi Alba, I said Alba previously I have seen Schmelzer a few times since and he is very good as is Alba. Gilly

i think we should go for jan verthoghen in jan
hes not exactly a bad player does the job in defence and scores a good few goals can also play in defensive mid very well and (im not sure on this part) but he can play lb aswell?
wouldnt be a bad signing can play in many places can score and is pretty solid wouldnt be massively priced either

The more i see him play the more i think we should get him, he's better than sneijder and is younger. That man is Hamsik, i reckon he'd come, it'd be a fee but he'd be so good linking midfield with attack.

Can any ed's help me out with this one, I've heard and read (on Wikipedia) that Luis Suarez's agent is Pep Guardiola's younger brother Pere. Is this true?

Not saying Barca would need or want him, seems a bit fishy though.

Fergie has stated recently that there will be no buys in January. But he says things and does the opposite, so I wouldn't be suprised if he gets Sneijder or Gaitan.

"It is very difficult to buy players in January," Ferguson said ahead of Saturday's game with Wolves at Old Trafford. "You don't just want to buy any player simply because it gives you another one. You want to buy someone who can make a difference."

Ferguson said the club's demotion to the Europa League after its Champions League exit only made the job of finding decent recruits harder.

"We have only had maybe four or five signings in my time here in January -- Louis Saha, Andy Cole, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra [and Diego Forlan]. It is not a consistent route for us simply because of all the disadvantages," he said.

"I am not quite sure if you went for a player if he could play in the Europa League," he added. "There are a lot of issues there but there is nothing in my mind at the moment."

I think they should double the number of officials on the pitch. Four linesmen and two refs then just split them between each half so they have less ground to cover and can keep up with the game. Make them all professional. Intensive fitness programme and get more ex players in there. And bring in camera's for key decisions like pens, reds and did it cross the line.

'"The club are playing a dangerous game in not investing, every business needs to invest or it will decline." Red Man'

Spot on Red Man! If SAF decides to call it a day at the end of the season, we are screwed because it's only his team organisation that is keeping us going. A new manager would disrupt this as he will have his own ideas on how to run things. At this point everyone will realise that we have crap players as we haven't been investing properly in new recruits.

DDG - not the finished article by a long way.
Lindegaard - good.
Twins - always injured.
Evans - c**p.
Rio - finished.
Vidic - top-class, will the injury affect him long-term?
Smalling - brilliant.
Jones - brilliant. Midfield or CB?
Evra - how can SAF make this man captain??????????
Valencia - ok.
Nani - very inconsistent.
Young - ok.
Carrick - ok.
Park - finished.
Giggs - should have retired 3 years ago.
Anderson - had his chance and failed.
Cleverly - great prospect, could be brilliant.
Gibson - c**p.
Rooney - brilliant, but moody and lacking in concentration.
Hernandez - ok.
Wellbeck - ok.
Berbatov - brilliant but too lazy.
Macheda - could be brilliant but won't get the chance to prove himself with SAF.
Owen - why??.

So only Vidic, Smalling, Jones, Cleverly and Rooney are top-class. 5 out of 11. pathetic.
We need 2 full-backs, a DM, another midfielder to complement Cleverly, a winger and a striker.
We need to change to 433. Rooney needs to be played as a striker, with 2 wingers beside him that he can interchange with
For all those who follow the reserves and feel they should be given a shot - I agree.
Personally, I would implement a strategy that all young players who are first choice for the reserves, but are not involved in the first-team squad should be sent on-loan for game-time. The reserves is for squad players to help maintain game-fitness, it is really not good enough for youths coming through who need proper competitive matches.

Has SAF got a long-term strategy in place for the up-and-coming youths to blend in with the regulars, or is he not getting enough money to spend on players.
I personally believe there are tough times ahead, the fact he kept on Giggs and held onto Neville and Scholes for far too long shows a serious lack of judgement by SAF. Anybody who says their influence and experience was needed is talking total b*****ks.
Anyone who says we should try and get Beckam for 6 months is talking total b*****ks.
Any one who says Rooney is on a level with Messi is talking b*****ks.
etc, etc, etc.
The end of an era is nigh. In my opinion, SAF seems to be just going through the motions of running a team. The vision, passion and strength he brought to utd is slowly waning. Interesting times are ahead.

with the mirror reporting SAF is after 17yr old lb jetro willems it looks like evra could be with us for a few more yrs till the boy is ready.
i still think we will get rodwell (in an ideal world would go for javi martinez but rodwell more realistic) but as hamsik has 'snubbed extensive utd interest', harry wont give up modric and other targets like goetze prefering spain who is there really to go for @ acm and is that the kind of player we really need?
