After watching the City game they really are in a slump and were lucky to get a win against a very poor Villa team. Its a great time for you to try and get a lead up over them as much as it pains me to say it. Also was impressed by Welbeck against us yesterday. Compared to his performance against us in the FA cup he was like a different player. So I was thinking can we have Hernandez?lol. Intresting to read how many of you feel you need a RB I think Rafael looked very good again and is a hell of a lot better than Clyne. Nice to be talking about football again and its good to now we are in for Isla at Udinese he's a great player and would really improve us. Also had to laugh at the mascots at the Villa game today already having a bad effect on children.

So Liverpool and Suarez have finally succumbed to an apology but just for not having the handshake. This was likely an attempt to save the club from further embarassment. This morning the New York times reported events directly mentioning the owners and connecting it with their American franchise, this may well have prompted the owners to act. Whilst any apology is appreciated, the belief within Liverpool and its supporters of Suarezs continuing innocence means there will be nothing further. There is no point expecting anything else now, so let us just get on with it, look forward, concentrate on our own situation and win games.

However, it would not surprise me if Evra , on a personal basis, does not consult his solicitors over the statements from Liverpool about him. Let me remind you, Liverpools original official statement said, it is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible – certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations. I am no lawyer but could that be defamation of Evra? Whilst I think we have seen everything we are going to see from the clubs, I would not be surprised to see Evra look at that and other statements further.

In a way I hope he doesnt as we all need to move on, but it would not surprise me if he did.

if we can get 13 points out of 15, for the arsenal, chelsea, liverpool, norwich and tottenham period, i think we could have the upper hand on city. This period is with out doubt are hardest period and to get over this with only dropping two points wold give us huge confidence.
City looked poor again today, i know they controled the game, but aston villa were shocking and could of still snatched the equaliser. City have struggled the last few away games, wigan, everton.
they need to protect silva and augero, not wrapping them in cotton wool, but giving them a suit of armor. how do players like them and messi stay so fit and injury free, there not the biggest or strongest and you would assume they would be kicked of the pitch.
Great win yesterday and look forward to the ajax game and what youngsters we will play. hope pogba starts!

I'd like to know who people would like to have or think will be the next united manager as I think it will happen the summer after next but this summer wont be beyond possibility.
My personal choice only based on the fact that he says at his next club he would like to stay a long time would be mourinho.I think he'd instill a fear factor in the players we will already have let alone aid the portugese speaking players we still have since we had queiroz.
Another relevant question is when Mourinho does leave Madrid whenever that may be he will come to the premiership would he go to city with the influx of ex barca board members going there?
I presume they think they may be paving the way for guardiola to go there though.
In the long run hopefully Ole, giggs, scholes etc will come through to take the reigns of our great dignified club.
Any thoughts anyone?

I love this moral high ground you lot take. Seemingly you forget about Schmeichel racially abusing Ian Wright, Cantona's Kick, Keane deliberately ending Haagaland's career and Ferdinand missing a drug test. Not to mention one of your own supporters being arrested for racist behaviour at the Stoke game.

Everyone of these players were supported to the end by Ferguson and your club and I am presuming by most of you. They also continued to play for the club.

These facts mean not one of you is in a position to judge Liverpool football club, any of the players or it's supporters in this instance.

You criticise us, yet you are no bigger or better than us.

I hope this is the end of this sorry affair.

We can now move swiftly on but just to clarify and it is a better situation now than when the day started for lfc but dalgliesh has still not changed his stance on the matter that led to the handshake. He has only apologised for his conduct on tv abd the non handshake. Hes completely contradicted himself. I believe he still doesn't think Suarez should of been banned (correct me if I'm wrong) as he stated less than 48hrs ago.
Suarez has only apologised for not shaking hands. This has cemented itself already into that club subconsciously.

Say that we have £50 - £60 million to spend in summer (which i think is the rough figure) what do we want to see, this is what i want:

Luka Modric: I think that Redknapp will likely leave Spurs, and i think that Totenham told him last summer that they want one more year out of him, then he can go (like Fabregas, Ronaldo etc). He will be available in summer. I think that Ferdinand may be used in a deal however.

(Second choice would be Nicolas Gaitan).

Nathaniel Clyne: For a nominal fee there is no risk in going for this boy, he is better than what we have in our academy in the full back position and i think under SAF he could well flourish.

Inigo Martinez: Everyone has talked about Hummels and Subotic, but this guy is more likely and is the real deal. He is also a BALL PLAYING defender which we like.

Lastly i full expect to see a new striker, not sure who though. I'd be happy to be honest to see Berbatov stay on, see how Macheda and Keane do. That would be enough.

- First choice i must say would be Ronaldo, don't need anyone else if we signed him lol.

A few points on the last two days.

Evra's reaction at the end was childish and tarnished the dignified manner which he had been dealing with the matter. Fergie is clearly unhappy with him, and we can only assume he'll privately get the bollocking he deserves.

The chants from certain sections of old trafford were pathetic and those involved should be ashamed. The fact that some Liverpool fans sing about Munich doesn't excuse it in any way.

The reaction of a lot of Liverpool fans to the whole incident has been baffling. From the unflinching support from Suarez, to the attempt to try to blame Evra for the handshake, to the belief that the whole footballing world is conspiring against their club.

However, the reaction of Liverpool fans on this site to Ed002's suggestion that Suarez's position may have become untenable takes the prize. I have never seen such self-righteous anger and sheer vitriol directed at anyone posting here. And to think that's just the stuff that could actually be posted. The people involved have shown a distinct lack of respect and class, their a further embarrassment to their club.

For me it's about time that us United fans forget about Liverpool for the rest of the season. We don't play them again and they're not a challenge to us in the league. Like any tantrum throwing toddler, once they've shouted, kicked, cried and thrown all their toys out of the pram for a week they'll be back to their task of securing euro-league football.

So now Suarez has finally apologised for refusing to shake Evra's hand, and Liverpool have also announced he led them on. So, this surely will put an end to the Liverpool posse saying Evra snubbed Suarez.

"Smithy"

I don't condone the chants that were heard yesterday. But, trust me, Liverpool fans aren't innocent when it comes to chanting about tragedies. Last years FA Cup match saw a Liverpool fan caught on camera doing it.

Suarez is a selfish little rat. He refused to shake the hand of a man he racially abused. That tells me enough about the kind of man he is.

Blair Mayne

Yes, I agree, Evra should not have done that celebration at the end, even though I loved it at the time. However, you can understand why he did it, considering the abuse he took at Anfield even though he did nothing wrong.

As a Liverpool fan, I'd like to apologise for the way my club and some of its fans have behaved. Don't get me wrong I'm 100% loyal to my club and I have tried to stay loyal to the players. But Suarez yesterday was bang out of order. There are somethings bigger in football than rivalry and this is one of them. Whatever the two players feel about eachother is irrelevant, for Suarez to not shake Evra's hand, which would have been a small gesture for him would have been hugely significant in the fight against racism and reducing the tensions between the two teams. All it showed was immaturity and petulance. Bitterly dissapointed with Suarez, dissapointed with Dalglish's reaction. Normally can't stand Fergie but he hit the nail on the head. We're a proud club with a proud history, and Suarez is dragging our name through the mud.

'Smithy'

If Suarez had taken a knife yesterday and jammed it into Evra's chest, you strike me as one of those people who would accuse Evra of stealing his knife. You see there's an undercurrent of misplaced tribalism throughout your previous posts which almost makes it pointless replying to you (but I'm going to anyway). As long as Suarez wears the red of Liverpool you're going to blindly support all of the sh!t that he and Kenny spout. Please understand that this whole affair is no longer an extension of the United/Liverpool rivalry - it hasn't been for some time now. Anyway..

"I'm judging Evra on how he behaved at the world cup, lying in his statment, the things he admitted saying about Suarez and the way he has acted since playing in the prem."

What you've said here is highly subjective. And stupid. If you swapped "Evra" for "Suarez" this statement actually makes more sense. I'm not kidding. I'm sure you don't need to be reminded of Suarez' classless display at the World Cup? Or his inconsistencies throughout the Evra saga? Or his cheating/diving/finger raising/petulant behaviour during his short time in the Premiership? Besides, what Evra or Suarez have done in the past is not the problem I had. The problem is you're a total hypocrite - criticising Evra and blatantly ignoring anything Suarez has done because he wears a Liverpool shirt!

"he is supposed to be what I described him as"

I don't even know what to make of this?

"Also you fail to answer the main points of my post about your fans disgusting behaviour"

Once again, you try to pass off your opinions as fact. You need to understand Smithy that I'm not narrow-minded like yourself - I know there are idiots on both sides. And trying to claim that one group is somehow worse than the other is childish and unproductive. Grow up.

afternoon lads,

A very satisfying performance yesterday. I'm paying for it now tho!!

Evans was a machine at the back and seeing rio put in some great challenges made me shout "Big Boy Tackle" at the screen a few times.

Giggs seemed to give the ball away a few times and watching scholes' passing, sometimes you have to wonder how a guy can have technique like that, especially as his eyes arnt 100%.
carrick went bout his job efficently as usual, no frills.
I thought wellbeck was immense in the first half. Held the ball up really well.
Toni frightened enrique, tore him apart.

Quick question - did we actually make any subs in the game?
Was too busy taking the piss out of my scouse mate in the 2nd half!!

Brilliant result. suarez just annoys me. looking at him annoys me. But how people defend him, like he is a victim makes me laugh. this is a guy who will bite people on a pitch. Only wish keano was playing, sure suarez would have got "bumped" back into the real world!!

Impartial Wembley FC Fan here.

I havent read most of what has been posted on this page but just thought i'd share my thoughts with you all, being relativley impartial.

Firstly Man Utd and over achievers, they have been for the past 5 or 6 years, this will not continue, there is only so long you can rely on Giggs and now Scholes. Serious investment needed.

Liverpool just aren't the same since they havent been in Europe, its looking like they won't be able to challenge for a Champions league place for a while yet.

On the Evra/Suarez race row.

Clearly Suarez is wrong and is one of the most repugnant players in the league. However utd hardly shower themselves with glory in this situation. Evra needs to act with a little more dignity. He has been in a few scrapes himself so behave like a professional!!

Why do Man Utd players.. particularly Rooney feel the need to mouth off about everything on twitter... In particular im referring to Harry Redknap for England manager. Rooney... this is none of your business.. stay out of it! It is the FA's job to decide who gets the job. How will a new manager feel if its not Harry? Knowing that the players see him as 2nd best. Also.. you will never be England captain... not until you start behaving yourself on and off the pitch anyway.

The season will go to City, Utd will finish second, you won't win a thing this season.. can't imagine Fergie cares too much about Europa league.

Lastly.. all this I'm hearing about obscene chants/ songs from Utd supporters... maybe you forget that even though fortballers and overpaid and arrogant they are still human beings. You wouldn't behave like that on the street so why in the terraces?

I could go on... but I will leave it there for now.

The bigger picture, is the longer that sort of behaviour Is tolerated by lfc the sponsorship will subtlety drain away.
I actually think that Suarez was meant to shake evra's hand according to lfc but he thought he'd use it as a moment of gamesmanship and didn't realise what the perception would be. Now it will fester and ultimately lfc will suffer. Suarez can head off to Spain probably in the summer claiming victimisation by the English media to play where he actually wants to be at barca or Madrid.
Shame it took alot away from the game, but whoever posted that it probably means in Uruguay "you alright there mate" or along those lines did make me chuckle.

Liverpool fans have been coming here with the Dalglish defence of blame everyone except Liverpool. It's been the media, Evra, Sir Alex, our fans etc. The fact is the situation wouldn't have been as bad if Suarez had shaken Evra's hand. Patrice Evra is no saint and has his previous as do other United players past and present but it's as if Liverpool fans regardless of what he does see Suarez as the innocent party. Since coming to Liverpool he has dived constantly, been banned for 8 games and also thrown a finger up at opposing fans. So while I say Patrice is no saint, have a look at Suarez.

In terms of the game it was a great win which keeps the pressure on City and we showed we are a far better team than Liverpool. Getting players back from injury, building momentum it's our time of year to kick on now.

I dont believe I have commented on the Suarez situation as yet however after yesterday I am going to make a couple of observations.
I was not aware that Suarez had not shaken Evra's hand so that played no part for many of us during the game. However in a volatile atmosphere Suarez behaved in a way that could easily have incited a riot, on this I agree with SAF. The Rio tackle, a fair one, resulted in a set of histrionics from Suarez which frankly were uncalled for and were yet again the its not fair on me scenario. I believe what he did at half time when booting the ball deliberately at the crowd was incitement and the FA should look at that. He had to be surrounded to protect him and personally seeing the response from the crowd he was in danger of inciting them. That is the point where he should have been dealt with by the referee and remember the very strong response from the crowd as he walked off was down to that incident as many didnt know about the handshake. I was actually surprised to see him come out for the second half.
This has been badly mishandled by the Liverpool manager over a long period, it is a PR disaster for their club. I agree with Graham Taylors, the PFA heads comments on this although have felt it for a while.
The error with the T shirts, the stance of support even carrying it on last weekend when Dalglish suggested he should never has been banned has led to Suarez feeling he had the moral high ground and had nothing to apologise for. It is this attitude I have to criticise in the great club which is Liverpool. I may want to beat them more than anything but I watched through the 70 and 80s and had respect for them. Maybe Liverpool dont care about other peoples respect, however I feel the sponsors and particularly the owners may well be sat very uneasy now.
Let us be straight one handshake is not the main problem here it is the continual denial by Dalglish of the problem and the lack of leadership by the Liverpool owners that led to the focus on that handshake being key to moving forward. The move forward should have happened weeks ago with acknowledgement of what had happened and an apology. It didnt and the short sighted approach of defending the player has spectacularly backfired.
Suarez could easily have incited a riot yesterday and that needs to be dealt with by the FA. Liverpool need to take a good look at themselves and a player who let us not forget has history, particularly in biting someone. Evra also cannot be proud of his lap of the pitch but in some aspects I can understand why he did that, given the venom at Anfield, the lack of an apology and then the handshake or lack of it.
Liverpool have become a smaller club in my eyes as a result of their handling of the Suarez situation and it needs to be put right before he does something else at someone elses ground. Will he do that? Very likely he will do something given he has been given the message he has done nothing wrong. He already had a one game ban for the incident with the gesture. Is the message to Liverpool not clear enough?
I am just glad that is not our club being dragged through the mire. Yes Cantona did what he did but he paid the penalty and accepted the guilt.
In a way I expect the next event to be claims from the Liverpool manager that it was Evra that didnt shake the hand or it was anything but Suarezs fault. However I expect some leadership from their owners and the shell shock Dalglish showed in the interview was telling.
They need to get Evra and Suarez together , with a proper apology to move this forward but I cant see it.

Cue the torrent of stupid abuse, from most unnamed posters for talking truth. I said in a previous post you deserved the win and played better than us and showed more urgecy. Let's stop with this believing media bull as well your fans showed you up again but nothing will get said in the gutter manc biased press.

RFT, I thought you were banned mate? Your posts have been deleted on here and our page, on numerous occasions. But since you asked, who am I? I am just a humble LFC fan, who loves my club. I'm confused, some of you are calling me bitter? You know I ain't bitter. I was the 1st one to post on here, that you were the better side, we were awful and deserved what we got. Scroll down RFT and have a peak. No complaints about the result whatsoever.

What has really annoyed me, is this drunken clown Slur Alex. Who does he think he is, deciding who plays for us? Dosn't he get it? Do you Mancs not get it? Everytime Slur Alex, media or anyone else ridicule our great club, it brings us closer together and makes us stronger.

If Slur Alex would have taken the same stance when Schmeical called Ian Wright racist names. You wouldn't have had the best keeper ever to play for you, at your club for long. But he did nothing and now has so much to say, considering how he kept saying about the Suarez/Evra situation 'We have no comment, ask Liverpool they have a lot to say'. Now you know why us LFC fans, have no respect for this drunken fool.

Today Slur Alex came into his own and what sets him apart from other managers. His manipulation of the media, is 2nd to none.

Some of you say that Slur Alex is the greatest manager ever? He's not even the greatest manager ever at your club, Sir Matt is.

Hope that answered your question RFT?

Quite a few things to talk about today. 1st and most important, very good performance overall. Every one did a great job but special praise to Rooney, valancia, Evans and rafeal who I thought were exceptional.

2nd, Suarez gate. In all honesty a lot of people could and should have handled it better. Evra would have been better to not celebrate like that straight accros the front of Suarez ( though I completely understand why he did), rio shouldn't have snubbed him ( again I understand why), Kenny was a plank tbh and shouldn't have point blankly lied that he didn't know he didn't shake evra's hand and fergy shouldn't have said what he did as united as a club have took the higher ground through this case by keeping quiet ( why change now)
BUT, when all said and done all Suarez had to do was shake evra's hand and we wouldn't even be discussing all this. He doesn't have to like him, he doesn't have to want to do it but just not be a pr**ck and shake his hand!

Also must say that if Liverpool as a club didn't carry this on in the first place and just handled it with common spence and diplomacy it would have calmed down weeks ago

Must say aswell, thought Neville was spot on with his after match comments.
