Ed002,
Any truth to these Vermaelen rumors on SSN?
Thanks in advance

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what they are.}

I wouldn't say no if I am honest, a top defender when he is fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ideal for me, doubt Arsenal will want to sell him to us though. I'm sure there will be plenty of foreign options for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank god there's no interest there! He is nowhere near the player he was two or three years ago. Just look at his performances this and last year! Looks shaky and would provide very little stability to our team

Would prefer to continue with promoting youth or giving Jones, Smalling more of a run out

To any of the Eds. what is the current transfer situation at Utd. For me it is way to quiet, just like last year

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club has players it is interested in. I am not sure what else you want.}

I think we should be having a pageant show and parade them in speedos around OT.

Forgot there is a world cup and might take precedent over individual players and clubs, and yes a new manager who is yet to set foot on the grounds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shahram, completely agree. I think the club should be giving us hourly updates of conversations and negotiations so we know what's going on. Please God, there is something going on

Redchad,

I think you will find it is the total opposite to last year. Last year we were linked to everyone and kept talking about what we were doing. People complained we were too public.

This year nobody has a clue, it's all being done behind closed doors and guess what? People are still complaining.

Sorry to hear about your son, thoughts are with you and your family.
Also apologies if you saw my comment last night. Your comment wasn't up when I replied, I obviously wouldn't of cracked a joke at something like that. My bad

I just read the Horrible news, thoughts and prayers are with you and family, Especially your little Boy. I lost my Father when I was 11 and being the eldest child, I know there is nothing anyone can say right now that will help or comfort you or your Family. My advice would be to spend every minute of every day with your son. I would also record some home family movies with your son and let him know every day how much you love him and that your always going to be right there for him through everything.

I'm not saying that you have already gave up hope, I just know from experience too many families focus on what they can do best for making themselves feel better without asking the child what's best for them.

If the Tumour is incurable then be honest with your son and ask him that if the time comes, How would he like to be laid to rest and what songs he likes etc.

thinking of you

I admit I hadn't seen much of either of them, but I was impressed by Martins Indi & Blind last night, both had excellent games. Blind's energy and use of the ball on the left was fantastic. LvG certainly got the best out of his team last night which is good to see and his system and style were a joy to watch in the second half. Of course it's only one game, but certainly made for promising watching as a United fan. Interested to see how they do from here forward.

Anyone else now really exited for next season? Personally didn't see the game but the seen the highlights. Van persies header was sensational! Looks like the end of tiki taka football now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Dutch players were all very good. LvG certainly showed he can pick a team and change tactics effectively for top quality opposition whilst contending with injuries to his own team. What was most pleasing was the reaction of the Dutch players to LvG when they scored. All of them ran straight up to LvG. He certainly has the respect of his team and they really want to play for him. All of which bodes very well for us going forward.
With regards to the end of tika-taka, I'm not too sure. Holland did dismantle Spain but I think it may well be the end of Iker Casillas as an international keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the best part of it all was the appearing relationship between Van Gaal and the players, it bodes well for next season

Incredibly excited, and less concerned that the marquee signing(s) we've all been hoping and praying for are turning their noses up at us.

Last night demonstrated that LVG is tactically astute, something we've been lacking for a while, and a great motivator of those who believe in his methods. I'd be more than happy if LVG was to sanction the signing of young, upcoming talent who are driven by a desire to play for the club rather than money.

I also firmly believe LVG will bring the best out of our under-performing stars. I have particularly high hopes for Nani next season, he fits "the system" and, considering the pitiful sums of money people are suggesting we sell him for, I think it makes financial sense to take one last gamble on his undoubted ability.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Spain were by far the better team in the first half. Holland just couldn't get hold of the ball and on the few occasions that they did they just hoofed it up the pitch. If it weren't for RVP's goal coming when it did (as good as the goal was - it also came from a long ball up the pitch) - I think Spain would have gone on to win the game comfortably.

It was an amazing result for Holland and a very good second half performance; but I wouldn't say I was excited about next season as a result of it. Perhaps if they play like that throughout the tournament I might though.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a lil un true redseven, fr one the goal they scored was a soft pen and the only other chance they had was the silva one, Holland had miles the better chances the first half, and was quite nice on the ball

Horrible news, my thoughts are with you and your family. There is nothing we can say right now that helps much other than we are thinking of you.

It really does bring some perspective to those who seem to become obsessed with things that in the big scheme of things are not that important.

Keep praying, and keep hoping.

Tony

Thanks fellas. I wouldn't usually mention it online but seeing some of the over reaction to our lack of activity regarding transfers made me think get a grip, it's something we can't do anything about unless someone's got a spare billion or two to buy the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same here mate. I did not know until Tony's post now. I really have no words and may god bless you and your family.

Same here carloto. Sorry to hear your news. Best wishes to you and yours!

After watching Holland last night, I have to say I feel next season will be better for us even without loads of signings. Ok, we'll win nothing, but at least it won't be boring. United will upset a few with LvG way of playing.(but hopefully, we will make some signings AND win something).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I want to see how nederlands do against teams that are going to sit back and defend. Most of the teams in PL do that against united and we really struggled to break them down last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that last season our build ups were so slow it enabled teams to sort out their defences before we got anywhere near their goal. Holland turned defence into attack quickly, just as United used to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

That last goal was amazing and reminded me a lot of old UTD
