Ed what do you make of the daily mail journo (quite well respected apparently) saying we have agreed 3 deals already? Any idea who they might be?

{Ed002's Note - Don't believe everything you read.}

Well this is a real crisis isn't it? If we overcome the mighty Spurs tomorrow then we will be 2 points off 2nd. It's a very odd year and anything still seems possible. Well.dne to Burnley who may manage to stay up, what a great job Dyche has done so far.

It's time for our players to stand up and be counted, we, play some top teams in the coming weeks, if we perform we will secure top 4 and perhaps 3rd or dare I say 2nd.

Let's stop the negativity, we will turn up tomorrow and show the country that we are still United.

Yes this is the time to get behind the team and push them on. Everybody thinks it seems that we won't finish top 4. Well its in our hands and more than possible.
A win tomorrow that would put daylight between us and spurs and put us 2 points behind 2nd could be a massive much needed confidence booster and put the swing back in our favour.
Massive massive game for us and I believe we will get 3 points.

Excellent post and rallying cry AJH after watching the match tonight it does give you the feeling that anything could happen over the coming weeks and I feel strangely optimistic a good result for us and a poor one for Chelsea throws the whole thing open, and whilst the realist tells me top 4 is just about possible 2nd or even the title (with a little help from the gods) is within reach all of the negatives and disappointment we have felt all year could disappear over the next 4 weeks .

As leonitus said .something. something. this is Sparta 😜

14 Mar 2015 22:51:06
Most definitely agree AJH. It is indeed turning out to be a very strange season. Apart from Chelsea who have been top from day one it is anybody's race for the CL spots at the moment. It's simple whoever gets thier act together over the next few weeks gets the prize.

I want to see no more crazy tactics/selections from the manager and for the players to really step it up. If that happens and City slip again I feel automatic qualification for next years CL is there for the taking.

Haha )belfast yes I was enjoying a glass of pinot noir whilst writing that post but hey you never know but in the cold light of day I think Chelsea will make there way to another title and while I would love to win it I would take mid table obscurity forever before my club turned into what your disgrace of club is.

Even if it is speculation it is good to read about links to Hummels, Gündogan, Clyne, Depay and now Ronaldo. Whatever happens in the summer it will be interesting.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

14 Mar 2015 15:21:37
Ronaldo would be the best addition to our squad.
I could see that happening as part of the De Gea deal. Sadly I don't think De Gea would be here next season. Most World Class players eventually leave for RM or Barca.

14 Mar 2015 17:44:00
That would be a really bad deal.

as long as we get decent money for dea gea i wouldn't be to bothered yeah he's is a top keeper but players come and go.

theres plenty of good replacements but i would expect at least 30 million regardless of contract lenth left

15 Mar 2015 11:54:12
I just wouldn't swap a world class keeper, at a time of a shortage of world class keepers and all the other world class ones are already at our rivals, for a 30 year old whos got a suspect knee which might not hold up for a prolonged time in this league. he's already having to adapt his playing style to cope.

If we end up having to sell then its straight cash only. Unless their mega desperate to get bale out. And the campaign to force him out has gone up another notch.

Seeing this morning its going to be a smooth quick window for utd players already signed up

Can you give us some clarity as to who we have already signed up??

Really? I've been away from media etc for a week or so, i'm a little behind the times, who has signed up?

Herbie, you're back! I thought Amsterdam had claimed you, mate :)

The daily fail claims we have 3 ready for the summer. Most people are guessing depay and clyne are two and either hummels or laporte depending on your preference.

Mike Keegan from Manchester Evening News tweeted regarding this last night.

"Told tonight United have already agreed three deals for the summer. No names mentioned but it's looking like a better structured window."

Guess we will just have to wait and see!

Reading through the posts I see where your coming from but its all just speculation at the moment. Hopefully there is truth to it, it would be nice to get transfer dealings done early for a change.

I have just been reading through all the posts on here and then 1 caught my eye and made steam come out of my ears. not because i'm Irish or anything but simply because one of the best players in the Irish team was slated.

SPB

FOR THE RECORD. James Mccarthy is a great Midfielder and on his day can put in a great shift, Ok so he is not technically able to do the tricks and keepy uppies like the foreign players but either could ROY KEANE and look how good he was. Too me it seems that many folk here have a bad attitude and if a player can't keepy uppie or have a foreign name then he simply won't be good enough when its the complete opposite. The post Ed007 ( Bond ) wrote about Mccarthy was spot on, He needs to be playing with better players to see his worth. I believe we have said the same thing about our best players at UTD playing with squad players and looking average. If DM had of got him instead of Wiggy we would be in a better place now and Rooney would not have to carry the burden of back tracking that so many of you moan about.

from past players signed at UTD can anyone tell me how much was spent on EU players and their names then Non EU players and names etc for players like ADM, Veron, Rojo, Kleberson, Anderson, Djemba Djemba, Forlan and Heinze etc.

Then from the EU theirs Mata, Berbatov, Rooney, Shaw, RVN, Herrera, Ronalado, Blind etc

I don't think their has been 1 good player for ITD outside of the EU but they work well for other teams.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Ed007 is blinded by love for McCarthy, he is a very good midfielder, but he is at his level. Simply lacks the footballing intelligence Keane had, for instance, and tries to make up for it by running around a lot. Too often caught in the wrong areas because of that and that is why Barry is needed by Everton. If he was able to learn positioning, he wouldn't have to run around so much and would be a much better player. Same with Rooney. They look great on TV, but in reality they are wasting most of their effort in the wrong areas of the pitch.}

14 Mar 2015 07:47:00
Englsh football syndrome again! :)
I agree with Ed in that in this country we are too impressed with players who are 6 foot 4, strong, fast and can run all day type players (I know McCarthy and Rooney don't fit all that criteria).
If our teams are to improve in Europe, and our national team, we need to stop craving this 100mph football and embrace a more technical style and have players with a good football brain.
Unfortunately, more technical football is not always as exciting to watch. Personally, I think United are on the right track, but still with a lot to do. If we can continue to keep possession of the ball like we have been, but add a bit more speed to our attacking play, we should develop into a much better team.
Whether LvG is the man to do this is another matter, but I do agree with his desire to keep the ball and be more "considered in our play.

Good post Betty, English football is obsessed with a certain type of player, powerful, strong, fast etc. The ball seems to get lost in all this.
It's all well and good if a player is fast but if he can't control the ball then what is the point.Bellion, Obertan anyone? The ability to PASS THE BALL, with speed, accuracy and intelligence is far more important than physical speed. The brain must be fast.Look at the top European teams.Look at United mid 90's: from back to the front, fast, intelligent passing. Schmeichel, Irvine, Rio, Staam, Scholes, Butt, not necessarily physically fast but they could play the ball with speed and get it to the likes of Giggs, Kanchelskis etc.
There was also the desire to get the ball back quickly and I feel this is one of the main problems with van Gaal and his positional obsession, players seem to be confused about being in their zone and actually getting the ball back.
I was hopeful of van Gaal turning it round. He still might. But I really didn't see it being as boring and dull as what is being described as football at the moment. It really is disappointing and puzzling.

James McCarthy would play better with creative midfielders beside him, he can break up the play, he has a good passing range has bags of energy, I agree with bond, our forward players would have more freedom with him in there, most under rated midfielder in the league

Agree3 Disagree1

14 Mar 2015 12:53:55
He does do a lot of the dirty work in midfield.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Mar 2015 13:48:03
I think the fact we are talking about McCarthy shows how poor our midfield is. He is a good player but not somebody you want starting if you are intending to win the league or CL. We have too many of those which is why we are where we are (amongst other key reasons).

Irvine was one of my favourite ever players.

Agree5 Disagree0

14 Mar 2015 15:26:35
Should we really settle for someone less than World Class. I believe De Jong is at par or better than McCarthy.
But I would like United to sign either Carvalho or Pogba or someone who is destined to being World Class.
We signed Blind for 15m, Chelsea signed Fabregas for 25m, we know who's had the better impact.

Could ADM be off in summer? I would be surprised. I think he will come good after a year under his belt. But then again I wouldn't cry if PSG came in and paid a similar fee to us.

One thing that boggles my mind still is them paying 50 million for a defender and then finding themselves in a position of not being able to afford ADM under FFP. I suppose they were expecting to ship a few more players than they ended up doing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Mar 2015 15:28:19
Agreed. 50m+ for him is good, but atleast he showed his quality in the first month or so which was breathtaking and soon I think he would be back to that level.
A players should be given a minimum of 2 years to settle down before being sold.
