Ed001

Hope we are still on. see you at 6.30. Good looking guy in a blue suit, slim and white shirt, no tie :)

See you shortly,

My conversion project is about to start LOL

{Ed001's Note - hi mate, yes, I will wear a footie shirt because that way you will know me - JFT 96 on the back. Everyone here wears suits and very few footie shirts about, so thought that was easiest way to be recognisable! See you in a bit mate.}

Is this date night?

Agree1 Disagree0

It sounds like a date

{Ed007's Note - I'm just waiting for Paddy McGuinness to pop up shouting about Fernandos!}

Aww I think it's cute, leave the love birds alone!

Agree1 Disagree0

Or Adnan Januzai turning up taking you to Nando's lol

Agree1 Disagree0

It sounds like they need to get with the times and download grinder. Far easier than using a message board, or so I've heard :O

I can see GCU gently pushing a meatball across the plate with his nose while ed01 shys away, with 'this is the night' playing in the background 😜

Agree2 Disagree0

Oh how sweet, Shahram got all dressed up. going to go dancing afterwards?

Agree1 Disagree0

Behave your selves and find something useful to do with yourselves.

Funny though and grinder sounds like some sort of unicorn site what is that??

Why have I got a vision of john Travolta in Saturday night fever, when he's getting ready to go out?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know about unicorns, but horns are involved.

A little tip for any of you intending to meet, don't wear something that 90% of the other people in the same bar are also wearing. I spent most of the evening wandering up to random strangers in blue suits with a white shirt on.

And that was just in the first Trader Vics, as it turns out there are 3 of them in Dubai, so the taxi driver took me to the closest one to me, which wasn't, as it turns out, in Madinat.

Actually, that is probably another good tip, make sure you are in the right place before wandering round asking random strangers if they are the person you are supposed to be meeting.

What is this grinder thing anyway? Only a few of the random blokes in blue suits asked me if I was on that. They mentioned something about hitting me up on there or something like that. Not sure what that could mean??

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed001 - Thanks for the tip, I hope you weren't bumping into random people asking if they could help you find God, I hate it when that happens!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I was actually asking if they were God, which did confuse a lot of people! Still I did make a lot of new contacts last night, at least I think that was why they were all giving me their numbers.....}

Danny

Meant to say Grinder sounds like some sort of porn site. Stay off of them the real thing is always so much better, LOL.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - your spellchecker changes porn to unicorn huh? Amazing the lengths some people will go to in order to hide their porn addiction from their other halves.....}

So did you meet up in the end or not?

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. After going round the bar asking random strangers if they were God, I eventually gave up and just went over to the bar and some strange bloke was there propping it up. Turned out to be GCU. It turns out that when a bloke calls themselves slim and good looking, it actually means quite the opposite.}

I take it it didn't go well then

Agree0 Disagree0

There's plenty more fish in the sea ED001.

He just wasn't the one for you.

Chin Up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I feel much better now.}

In all seriousness, hope you two had a good chat about football etc, I think its pretty cool that two people discussing English football and their love of two different clubs can meet up almost 5000 miles away.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - All joking aside Ed001 is one of the nicest and most genuine people you could meet, he has a heart of gold and is always for a chat if you have any problems or just need a moan about the wife. The eds on here were a rock for me when my dad died of cancer a couple of years back, if there was more people like Ed001 the world would be a better place.}

Damn, Ed001 sure knows how to rack 'em in!

First GCU and now Ed007 ;)

I was scanning headlines early this morning and one caught my eye about how Phil Jones stopped Ferguson from bringing in Varane. Now I admit I didn't read the story to get the full gist of it, but on the basis of that it does seem like a major error. Anyway, I was pondering it as I was editing this morning and I was wondering what other major errors, with hindsight, could I think of?

For me, the one that stands out a mile is the time when Liverpool were close to clinching the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. Rick Parry pulled the plug on the deal as £3.6m (yes that really is a decimal point) was too expensive for a teenager in his opinion! You can see why he was an accountant rather than a manager.

Anyway, anyone got others like that? There must be hundreds down the years that I am forgetting.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Trevor francis and Graham souness both turned cantona down

Agree0 Disagree0

A few years back Asmir Begovic had all but agreed a move to Spurs. He turned up at Chigwell to finalise the deal only to bump into Stipe Pletikosa - a fellow goalkeeper who played for Spartak Moskow. Some fool at Spurs had accidentally arranged for both keepers to come down to the training ground at the same time.

Realising that there was going to be more competition than he thought and feeling that Spurs' decision to bring in another keeper showed a lack of faith in him - Begovic decided against the move. Stipe Pletikosa, on the other hand, failed his medical.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes I would say that it is safe to say we would all prefer to have Varane over Jones. For me one of the biggest ones was choosing Bebe over Hazard.

Agree2 Disagree0

Pletikosa got a game I think

Agree0 Disagree0

Prunier - remember him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Gazza picking spurs over united, it still hurts me now.
You never know how it would of worked out but gazza with out the injury and under fergy could of been special

Big misses. Hazard, gazza, marcel desailly (spelling), Van der sar 1st time around, beardsly
Lucky escapes Glen Hysene, jon obi mickel, Baines

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba ahem ahem unbelievable how we have let some players go and now have to spend atrocious sums of transfer fees to get players of similar quality. Piquet is another one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gcu they both wanted to leave. Jaap "the wall" stam? That's one I can think of. Rossi another both admitted by saf as 2 of his biggest mistakes. Someone mentioned Beardsley further who was imo a greatly underrated player. Gascoigne obviously for Gascoigne himself as well. Batistuta not signed for anything other than all the millions in the world and a couple of fair virgins & 20 camels.

GCU,

Do we have to go over the Pogba thing a million times a month? It has been explained so many times on this website what happened with Pogba.
