Ronnie, we have Smalling, Rojo, Lindelof and a young lad called Tuanzebe. We don't really need any CB's atm even with Jones and Bailly out injured.

If there is the budget for it in the summer I would be happy to let Smalling and Rojo leave and bring in a top another top class CB maybe such as Laporte or Umtiti. However I would be just as happy if we didn't and Jose gave Tuanzebe more game time. I really think the lad is going to be top class.

Guess he got his bites then 😂.

To be fair to Ronnie, Jose is looking for another CB. But I don't think it's a pressing concern I have to say. I have a feeling Miki is being pushed out for Oezil, but we will see.

January is so hard to do business in, but hope we do something.

Either of the guys at Bilbao would do?

Nünéz or Laporte? Laporte preferable though?

As you say Smalling or Rojo could leave?

Why do question marks at the end of every sentence annoy me so much?

No point in getting annoyed Stevie, he’s a WUM.

Lindelof has improved, and come through his growing pains. Let Tuanzebe get more time as well. He has done very well whenever he has gotten the chance. Defense is not where we need help right now.

For a few posts Ronnie I thought you had learned to move on to exclamation marks - they did not seem to rile punters quite like the old ? Does.
Cheers mate.

Anyone watched Milinkovic-Savic the way he never looses the ball is scholesecse if we sign him we’re have the best midfield since the mid nineties we have never replaced Keane or Scholes or ince or Robson everyone since has never come close including Carrick mourinho has got that right.

Very good player, him, Matic and Pogba would be magnificent, but his passing needs to improve dramatically.

Carrick is not a Keane or a Scholes but he has been a great player for us for many years.

{Ed025's Note - very much so AJH..

15 Dec 2017 09:31:46
Carrick has been massively underappreciated by most United fans and I would say nearly all English fans. He has been United's and England's most intelligent midfielder since Scholes. Who himself was massively undervalued by England fans.

As a nation we have been brought up on the idea that midfielders need to be fit, strong, quick and charge around the pitch like a headless chicken. As long as they are throwing themselves into tackles and shouting at people we believe they are great.

Everyone is praising Pep's style of football over at Man City, but his style is born out of intelligence not physicality. If we focused more on having intelligent players be our playmakers rather than fast strong hard working players then maybe as a country we would have a better performing national team.

As for Milnikovic-Savic he is clearly a gifted player both physically and technically, but he still has a lot to learn. His decision making can be poor at times and he like many young players often tries to do too much himself. Hopefully he has the intelligence to learn when to make the risky passes and when to play safe. If he can do that he has every chance of becoming one of the worlds best midfielders.

Savic looks a good young player but one of the things he needs to improve on is not losing the ball.

keep hearing good things regarding savic but always with " needs to improve this that n the other"
I think we already have a young midfielder who could have the same/ similar potential in mctominay.
The lad hasn't put a foot wrong thus far and has some, game time in the premiership which must surely be an advantage.
Not saying btw that savic should be discounted as I think we need 2 mid over and before defenders as come the summer (possiby after jan) we could be lighter in that dept.

Is Savic possible for January? Seems like it will be expensive and summer deal.

Plus aren’t city and Barcelona after him too?

Insight fom Ed002 on clubs interested on Sergej M. S.

Arsenal, Stoke, Sunderland, Real MAdrid, PSG, Manchester City,
Juventus and Manchester United have shown an interest over the past year. Milan, the Manchester clubs and PSG will all look to making offers when he comes available. The interest of Juventus will remain if Allegri does.

When Ferguson said I doubt he took into account that team will be spending 100mn every season.

Joey. I think you'll be waiting a long time for their bubble to burst. Guadiola has got them playing like Barcelona and they work very hard at retrieving the ball and creating space when they have it.
It's up to us to change our ways and go up to their level.

I think many people fail to appreciate that Pep inherited a far better team than Jose did, he has then gone on to spend 100m more than Jose has to further improve his team which as mentioned was in better shape to begin with.

I'm pretty sure if Jose had matched Pep's spending we would be a lot closer to City than we are right now. People keep mentioning the need for better full backs, or more depth in midfield, or a creative forward player. We could have two or three of those positions filled if Jose had spent that extra 100m.

So let's not pretend Pep is some kind of god, he is a very good manager, possibly the best in the world at the moment. But he has City playing great football because he has had the money to sign the players he needs.

He has spent around 300m on a squad that already was settled in the top four and a squad that had won the league only two seasons before he took over. A team that had players such as Kompany, Yaya Toure, Fernandinho, Silva, De Bryune and Aguero already in situ. Proven world class players, proven winners.

Will this Man City bubble burst? Of course it will. They always do. How long until it does is harder to answer. But let's consider that Pep isn't keen on staying in one place for too long. I can't see him staying at City for more than a couple more years at most.

For what it's worth I think Pep is a good manager. He's not exactly had it difficult in his managerial career - Barcelona, Bayern and now City all have had top players and have been amongst the best teams in their leagues.

The big test for him now is winning a champions league without the trio of Messi/ Iniesta/ Xavi - I genuinely think 95% of managers would have won with these players especially in their prime. His record at Bayern is tainted by the failures in the champions league.

City will dominate until, as per usual, Pep gets bored and leaves of his own accord in a few years. Probably full circle back to Barca.

If we had Pep and City had Jose, I've got a feeling we'd be several points clear at the top of the league instead of them.

He identified the problems and fixed them to a level. We are much slower to do this, we sign players that don't fit the way the manager wants to play (I don't see a logical plan anyway), or players that compliment one another - there is very little cohesion throughout the team still. We also play negative football, that doesn't work when you have teams that are so focused on attack like City as we are seeing that negative football can be effective for the most part despite playing rank average most games as a team. It's WBA Pulis tactics with better players.

We should have signed Kane years ago as well.

I think pep is going to have to take over at Sunderland and guide them to champions league glory to convince everyone that he is the best around.
