I think we have a good squad. Preseason and Community Shield has shown that. We have good defense, wingers and attack. Young has been good addition.
But what I think we are lacking is midfield player who can be a playmaker but can also shoot. Carrick and Anderson can make plays but their shooting leaves a lot to be desired. That is IMO the void we have to fill in our midfield. Who would fill that void or who we should or could sign is speculation on my part. Good choices has emerged in media and this site. I would like to see us sign Mario G??tze or Nasri (I'm not sure his long range shooting though. I have no recollection about that.) or even Snejder if he and Inter lower their demands. If one of these players (or someone that caliber) arrives then I think we would have very good squad.
With that squad we would be close to the Premier League title and would go far in the Champions League also. Would we be as good as Barcelona? Maybe not but I didn't dream of that we would match their team after one summer spending.

Will people stop slating De Gea, the kid is 20 and still adapting to a different country. If any of you actually watched him during his time at Atletico you would know how good he is. Yes he has made mistakes, but who doesn't? If you sat there and highlighted every mistake that Rooney or Young or Cleverley or Nani made you would be there for a while, De Gea's mistakes get made simply because he is a keeper, replacing VDS (one of THE best keepers in the world) and starting for one of the best clubs in the world so he will have the spotlight on him so he will feel the pressure and at only 20 it's not always easy to deal with pressure. He's only a kid and will be THE best keeper in the world within the next 5 years, I guarantee. Casillas himself said "he will retire us all". So just shutup and get behind him

Would anyone else like to see Anders Lindegaard have a good in goal? i thought he looked much more composed in our pre season than he did last season against crawley Don't think it's a good idea to switch them just yet with de gea needing a bit of confidence but if de gea settles a bit more and becomes relaxed i think it'd be worth seeing the ability of lindegaard - after all he is from Denmark ;)

like many other united fans i would like to express that although we may not like to admit it city look a threat. not based on the one premier league game vs swansea but their squad is actually gradually looking world class. I am in the opinion that we do need another signing and i would be happy to see either a creative midfielder or a defensive minded midfielder as both would improve our current side. and lets be realistic it will only be one of the 2 at most. i feel the likes of gibson and diouf will not generate any transfer revenue for us this year as they will go out on loan most likely. therfor do you think there will be a signing whatsoever ? do you feel that the constant words from gill saying transfer funds will be available if a world class player becomes available is a plan so that when no player is signed the club can say we could of brought players but they would not of been world class (knowing that they have no plans to spend but makes it appear that they are ?)

We all need to really show fergie n the board wot united fans want, we should all get together next monday holding a banner saying Fergie Fergie sign him up and have a big picture of Sneijder on it, hopefully the press will b on it and Sneijder cud then see for himself how much he is wanted. Even if SAF feels the present squad is good enough to lift the premiership again this season and im not arguing that it isnt, he definitely wants the champions league trophy again before he retires. This squad in my opinion and more than likely in his isnt be good enough for that.
So for this reason alone he has to go back into the transfer market for a proven midfielder and to be honest with the wages that have been freed up with the departure of VDS,Scholes,Neville,and the sale of Brown,O'Shea etc the £50 mil or so we've spent only balances whats come in.

Hey fellow supporters just throwing up a topic . In my opinion midfield wins games I think pep is been really smart when ya think off it lads barca have 6 off the best mids around . They obviously think having best mids means chances will flow for front men . I still think united need a cm ya all talk about cleverly as a world bearer already the lad looks good player and will get better . Will he ever be a world bearer tho ? Sweinstiger be great buy but wes be even better in my opinion . Let's just hope everything falls into place for us either way we should be all behind team .

So does anyone think we will sign a midfielder before the window closes? I for one hope that we do and I don't just want United to sign someone for the sake of it. They have to be right for our club. And I also think a quality midfielder will only help Cleverley (who I rate highly) and Anderson develop the obvious talent that they have.
I still would love Wesley Sneijder to sign despite all of the boredom at the saga and his apparent wage demands. Despite this my head is telling me that if United do sign a player, then in will be a younger player as is Fergie's way and probably a player that is less well known, but still has ability.
Either way I think the squad is strong enough to win the league, just not sure about Europe.

Can someone please explain to me what implications there will be if the glazers go ahead and sell 1billion worth of shares on the singapore exchange. what exactly does this mean as I dont really know an awful lot about the financial side of things. for instance if united are worth lets say 4 billion and the glazers are putting up 1 billion worth of shares, is this effectively selling a quarter of the club to 'other owners' but will be called shareholders due to having a less a preportion of the clubs overall value?
Are they basically setting up stall to eventually sell the club off, or is this solely just to raise more funds somehow?

De gea will mature and gain confidence and experience with every game. Yes he may make the odd mistake or two most matches but that is part of the package with a very young keeper but the potential is what you must look at. He may slip up from Time to time but we must not complain. We will notice him getting better with every game.
