I don't doubt fergy is trying to sign someone I don't think any football fan in the country does
I was really just saying after what he has said it will be interesting to see if he actual gives pogba a game

I think what fergy was meaning was we allready had several players for midfield add a new buy as well and it would make it more difficult for any young player to break thro
I think it is an issue that has been spoke about many times but I'm sure you know better
as for we were looking at midfield players behind the scenes of course we were it's no secret we looked at sneijder and nasri and maybe some players that even you don't know about
so to be honest I really don't know what your point or problem is

I really think Modric is the man were gonna get! Not in jan tho, I fink Sir Alex wil stick with what he has until summer and then I think Modric will arrive, Sir Alex loves the guy and I think he's exactly what we need. I can't fink of a player more suited! In the summer I said sneijder but I fink that boat has sailed now, unless it's a low fee then I don't see us going back for him. Also, anyone hear what pastore said? Glad we didn't follow up interest on him, arrogant little get!

- Anderson, Phil Jones, Cleverley, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs, gibson, Park, Pogba, Ravel, Rooney.

So we have 11 players who can play CM. 5 of them in my opinion deserve to be in our squad on current ability, not past or future. and they are Jones, Clevs, Carrick, Fletch and rooney.

With Rooney best suited to playing upfront that leaves us with 4, plus with Clevs and Fletch current injured that leaves us with two, Carrick and Jones.

Now, that can work, Carrick's best work was when he had a real ball winner working his magic behind him, Jones will provide that, so although it's not a solution to our problem in the long term it's certainly a good short term.

Anderson, Gibson, Giggs and Park aren't up to it, they're all good players but they aren't of the level of consistency on a weekly basis that we need, I think Park will be kept simply for depth but the other 3 will leave in the summer IMO.

Pogba and Ravel are simply not quite there YET. next season they probably will be, but I can only see them getting game time if we have no other choice.

so, assuming that Fletcher decides to call it a day altogether it means come next season we should have the following fighting over a place;

Cleverley, Carrick, Jones, Park, Ravel, tunners and Pogba - although this isn't the best selection of player we've got 5/7 there under the age of 24. so my question is simple, will Sir Alex see it as this is the future of our midfield with a couple of youngsters such as Rodwell added to the mix as well as the possibility of an older CM just to add experience and depth to our midfield, or will he see those players as being perfect when you consider they are fighting over 2 roles?

hm. I personally think a midfield selection of Cleverley, Carrick, Jones, Park, Ravel, tunners, Rodwell, Pogba and an older CM looks pretty decent. you'll then have 6/9 under 24, and hopefully 3 under 32. which to be honest, have 9 CM, 6 with long careers and 3 with tons of experience and still being relatively good seems likely to me.

If Pogba wants to leave, we should not force him to play here. If he agrees, then wouldn't want him ?

These 2 signings are the necessity

de Rossi (CM)
Rodwell (CB, CM, RB(maybe) )

With Fletch gone, Carrick only bit part, gibson awful, anderson should be sold hes none better than gibson, always f***ing injured and 70% out of form.

Carrick, Cleverley, de Rossi, Rodwell, Pogba.
When the time comes, Carrick could leave.
I feel players would really benefit playing alongside a great player like de Rossi.

2 Defensive minded midfielders, we'll hardly concede.
Jones should play CB not midfield.
Krasic on loan? maybe, could be a hit, we should give a try IMO. (1-2 million wont affect much)

If we are to beat s**tty we must invest.

It will be interesting to see if pogba does now get a game
in the summer fergy used pogba as one of the reason/excuse for not buying but is yet to put him on the bench
if Gibson is injured I can't see how pogba won't make the bench on Sunday also I wonder if this fergy donig what he does best and playing a few mind games to get pogba a to sign on the dotted line or is this proof that all the rumours are bs
one last thing if fergy is looking to sure up midfield he better hope smalling and ferdy stay fit

Just heard SAF's press confrence where once again he has been asked about buying in January. Here is what the great man said:

If you look at the options we have - [Phil] Jones has played a few games there, Ryan [Giggs] obviously can play there too and Ji [Sung Park] is capable of playing there too.

"There are maybe one or two other options - Darron Gibson is an option. He had an early season injury, but he has experience needed to play in central midfield. The options are not too bad.

"Young Pogba is an option. He's progressing very well. It's one of these situations - unless there is a player we've been interested in for a while appears and you can get him, then there isn't much point in bringing an individual in because it gives you another player.

"Pogba is a possibility. He's a big strong lad, a good athlete. He's improving and developing well.

"Since he's come to the club we've seen the progress he's made and in terms of that youth team we had last year, six of them have all had a bit of experience of the first team this year.

"Of course, young [Ryan] Tunnicliffe is another member - he's over at Peterborough - he's playing Championship football at 18 years of age, so he's doing very well.

"It's a good group that - it's turned out very well. Pogba physically is better than the rest of that group, maybe apart from Zeki Fryers who is a very good athlete."

I really hope Pogba gets a shot and then all these rumours about him leaving can end.

If we were to sign Gaitan in January for 25 million i think we'd still have enough in the tank to sign another player. But i don't think we would do, and i'd be happy if we didn't. I must say that i would like to see Rodwell at the club, however if we get past Ajax and then play Bilbao, then we have an excellent chance to see him play against us. As we know this is seemingly the way SAF is going, if someone impresses then we go for them.

So instead of rushing in January to sign Rodwell, i'd like to see us wait, stick Jones alongside Gaitan if we want or rotate and then take another check in June. Have a good look at the players we have played against and see who would improve us. This to be honest is the way i think Fergie will go, nothing more than 2 January signings at the most, but one is the most likely.

The second signing could be Gary Cahill, and i think as a squad player he wouldnt be a bad shout, especially if Vidic is out for 9-12 months, we won't have him back itll September so we need some quality cover. If not Cahill then Chris Samba should be looked at.

That in total would be about a 30 million layout in January - personally it would be money well spent!

Ajax is probably one of the teams I wanted to avoid. There's no way Ravel and Pogba will play in that tie if we're taking this competition seriously. At least we'll get a good look at Erikson.

Looking forward to Ajax game, hardly any traveling to do, but can we still buy Ajax players in January if available for sale? IE Eriksen, Vertonghen or Van Der Wiel? Ajax haven't played in the Europa League yet so surely we can purchase one if we wanted too?

All English clubs have received a tough draw.

Chelsea Vs Napoli
Arsenal Vs AC Milan
United Vs Ajax
City Vs FC Porto
Stoke Vs Valencia

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - You can buy them but not use them in the Europa League Syd.}

If Ronaldo is unhappy as reported, do you think he could make a dramatic return? No doubt that SAF wants him back - but i reckon if he was to return then Hernandez could be used in a deal. Is this something that you would take? Say, 50/60 million plus Hernandez to bring him back. Personally I would, he still has a good 7 or even 8 years of good football left in him, and i wouldn't be surprised. It would probably very much mean that we have little money to spend elsewhere, but we could use our budget on Cristiano and let others go to facilitate other moves. And getting big wages off of the wage bill such as Berbatov, Owen etc, we would have a healthy looking wage bill.

Who would bet against SAF making a final parting blow on City with resigning the former World Player of the Year?

So, Ajax it is then! Maybe this will give Fergie a good chance to watch Christian Erikson perform. Porto vs City should be an interesting game too..

Now that I've seen the draw, I honestly think that this will happen;

Chelsea will come out on top against Napoli, it'll be close though.

Arsenal, depending on RVP I believe will go through.

And here's the odd one, I think Leverkusen will come out on top against Barcelona, Barca haven't been their best this season and Leverkusen are playing brilliantly, defensively they're strong and Adler seems to be in the form of his life.

Either way, I'm still thinking it'll be a Munich. Real final.

i think we will only buy rodwell in jan and then loan macheda and hopefully gibson for rest of season with option to buy. i think we will sell diouf although this could wait till summer. i heard a rumour that berb could be off to russia for about 8m which with the exception of youth signings will be about it

come summer i think we will go for willems, khedira/ hamsik and a striker maybe torres
i think owen will stay 1 more yr as will park and ferdinand with giggs retiring
can hold me to this

I really only see Rodwell as a realistic target in Jan he can cover CB and CM hes young and has a massive upside Id like to see him paired up with Jones in the middle and see how it works I think clevs carick rodwell and jones in the middle would give us a solid cm until the end of the season.

I dont think Cahil is great but would be a great squad player him and Rodwell could be brought in for a reasonable price we could also get rid of some dead wood and send it the opposite way.

Now with all our injurys how can we realisticly not bring in at least one player next month? It makes no sense really.

In the summer we have to get at least one of ericsson, mavilla,Goetz,Hamsik,Hazzard,Modric,Martinez
We have to.
